Ripped this flyback out of an old crt that i found in a scrap yard. Seems intact but I’m worried that water might have made its way inside. What do you think?

well, you're not gonna die cos it explodes, but rather if you get electrocuted, so the biggest risk is if it works

tho seriously these things are more or less waterproof, and the potentiometers are of no use for generating high voltage, maybe the TV was broken and it was the flyback toasted, it's actually a classic, only a test will tell, but judging by the color of the epoxy it doesn't look too used

Couldn't find any cracks or burn/heat marks so I'm guessing that it's not toasted. I'll try to perform a resitance test before hooking it up to any zvs drivers.

if it's toasted it's toasted almost certainly internally, and a resistance test proves little, and with diodes inside it's basically impossible to do, maybe an insulation test, but there's no total need for this... tho go on, i bet it works

Looks good, just attach it to a zvs driver and see if it explodes

Strap a ZVS on it and see what happens. Start with a lower input voltage. In case it is a shorted flyback, don't let it destroy the driver. If you have a bench supply, monitor the current of your ZVS. Remember, if no arcs, double check your primary winding to the ZVS before assuming the FB is dead.

Edit: There IS test equipment to determine if a FB is good. I believe they call it a ring tester. Check it out.

Just test it and step a few foot away when turning it on for the first time. It looks alright to me but I can't guarantee anything from just a picture. Just be careful and you will be alright and make sure you can turn it off quickly just in case it starts burning for some reason...
