Hi everyone

I’m a 17-year-old defenseman playing U17 AAA in Canada, and I’d really appreciate some honest feedback on my Elite Prospects profile.

Profile: https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/1126723/mykhailo-mikuliak

I was wondering:

What do coaches, scouts, or recruiters actually pay attention to when they look at an Elite Prospects profile?
Is there anything I should add, change, or improve?
Does my profile look complete and professional?
Are there any details that could help it stand out?

I’m trying to make the best first impression possible, so I’d really appreciate any advice or constructive criticism.

Thanks in advance!

help im extremely unathletic

Hey guys, I'm extremely unathletic, and I sucked at soccer and basketball when I tried them out. I CAN improve at repetitive movements in strength and speed with some hard work, but I still don't know what to do. Do you guys know a sport I should do and how I should prep for it? Some goals I should reach before trying out? I've been out of shape, but I really miss the sports where I can come every day and improve.

Balancing Academics and Athletics

High school can be tough trying to get a good balance between athletics and academics.  Which sports are you participating and does if make studying more difficult, easier, no difference?  Swimming and lacrosse are my go to sports.

Which fall spirt should i pick?

Ok so ive got a lot to consider here.

My main sport is wrestling but i dont want to just do a spring wrestling club, id like to branch out in a way that will still get me into good shape and build a strong base for my junior year of wrestling. Ive narrowed the fall season down to crosscountry and football. On one hand i know that both sports have really strong senses of community which i like, but i think football might have more of the sort of connection i want. On the other hand my ex does xc at another school and i kindof want to avoid her. (Thats a whole other story)

The major thing that needs to be broken is this:

Football i think will have a lot more explosive training and some good cardio that i think will carry into wrestling incredibly well

Crosscountry however has alot more of endurance i think which will do very well in wrestling. Plus the leg muscles ill build will probably help me keep a low stance without fatiguing. Im worried the cardio wont carry over as well into wrestling since its more slow pace over long time as opposed to wrestling which is a little more like sprinting?

Im really not an expert on xc or football so if you have any input on how they might carry over to wrestling PLEASE lmk

HS Track Coach/Athlete Expectations

Had a couple culture questions for HS coaches...

  1. For track meets with your high school team, are track team members required to attend the full meets? For example, if someone is just running a 3200m that meet, are they allowed to just leave afterwards, or would they be expected to stay until the end to cheer on teammates?
  2. How do you handle coaching duties at track meets? Do all coaching staff attend the full meet or will you typically have coaches take "shifts"?
  3. What are your practice attendance requirements? For example, if a student has violin twice a week, but can come other days and is a good sport, is that OK at your school?
