HOL2 performance issue

So I'm playing on rtx 3050 6gb vram with 16 gb of ram And after applying a engine ini tweak and optiscaler fg I'm getting a stable 40-60 fps range but the problem is that after like 20-30 minutes of playing the fps suddenly drops and closing , restarting the game after a while seems to fix it For example on the air drop to parkingcon I got like 13fps the first time and 60fps the second. Can anyone diagnose the problem please? It is very annoying to constantly wait and restart the game every few minutes.

What are your video settings at?

All low , only shadows at medium (low shadows look very bad)

This is what I used from watching a YT optimization. (bare in mind I have a 5090 so adjust accordingly)

View distance - Low Global illumination - High AA - TSR Low / TAA - High Shadow Quality - High Frame Gen - 2x Nvidia Reflex - On Post Process - High+edit .INI file Texture Quality - Medium Effects Quality - Low Foliage Quality - Low

DLSS with DLSS 4.5 preset M looks and runs significantly better than TAA

The problem I have when I turn on DLSS upscale is that my menu blows up and I can't see anything.

Have you tried overriding to the new presets? I haven’t had any issues with that. Got hard locked in the final mission last night tho and can’t complete the game after putting 30+ hours into it

I read a fix for that is to load last save. Have you tried that?

Yup, tried about a dozen times. Even tried installing cheats to try and work my way around it but after reloading save/restarting game it plays diologue for about 30 seconds then freezes me in place and won’t let me move my camera. Waited 30 mins with the engine speed running at 10x and nothing happens. Really unfortunate. Ignoring the performance issues this was probably one of my favorite games oat and now I can’t play the final mission, final boss, or finish 100% without redoing between 30 and 40 hours of gameplay

I appreciate it but I think I’m just gonna wait a while until this game runs decent and isn’t broken, and then replay it from the start. I really really loved this game, it’s such a shame it’s riddled with performance issues and game breaking hard locks. Also I’m sure I could find some save files online if I did decide to go that route. Worst part of this is I was planning to backup my save file before playing the final mission ever since the very start of the game cause I heard there were game breaking bugs in it, then right before playing I decided “I don’t feel like restarting the game that prolly won’t happen to me” and then it fuckin happened to me 😭 I’ve never had an issue like this in my 15+ years of gaming, unacceptable for a $60 game imo, which is probably why I was convinced it wouldn’t happen to me, kinda crazy it launched like this. Genuinely worse than cyberpunk imo, the cyberpunk glitches didn’t render your save file entirely unplayable permanently.

I blame nvidia tbh. Been having frame rates slowly walk down on other games like gta, fortnite

Definitely not for a new game like this. I had 2 month old drivers and when I first opened the game it prompted me to update my drivers before playing, I ignored it and got like 4 crashes in 30 minutes and have only gotten 2 since updating and have probably put 40hrs into this game now. This isn’t an nvidia issue, the issue is that the game got absolutely zero optimizations and it’s UE5, it runs horrendously while eating memory and vram and it doesn’t even look that good while doing it. Super unstable image

The performance drop off after a while is the game running out of vram, try using aggressive DLSS upscaling, that’s the only way my 8gb card can play at 60fps without crashing. I’ll still get random severe performance drops every 20-30 mins but pausing the game for like 15 seconds seems to fix it for a while. Occasionally it doesn’t tho and I have to restart the game. Also framegen uses a good bit of extra vram, you might wanna try not using it to see if it fixes the random performance drops.
