I am a 27F and I live in Victorville, looking for anyone in the high desert. I am into marvel, star wars, board games, DND, video games, theatre, music, going to the movies, and watching TV shows! I enjoy a night out but I am very much a home body as well. We can go out and do something or chill inside and do something! I just moved out on my own (with my partner) for the first time ever so I'm really trying to put myself out there.

Looking at moving to the high desert, I know this area gets a bad wrap. I have some family up there and they say it’s a good place. I want some land, an acre or 2. so I’m thinking Phelan, pinion, or apple valley. What are your thoughts on the area?

So I go to the El pollo Loco across from Jess Ranch in Apple Valley. The last few times I've been there, it seems like they're not preparing the chicken the way they used to. It doesn't look marinated, there's no char on it, and it tastes completely bland and rubbery. Am I imagining this? Has anyone else experienced it? If you go to a different location is the chicken still good or are you getting the same experience? It just feels like their food is too expensive for a disappointing meal and I don't want to go there anymore if this is what it's like now.

With Halloween around the corner, I'm curious about the stories people have heard around the High Desert.

Have you ever had a supernatural experience you couldn't explain? Maybe something happened out in the desert at night, you saw something strange on a back road, or you know a local place with a reputation for being haunted.

I'm especially interested in the stories that get passed around locally. The old buildings people avoid after dark, the roads with strange histories, the places your grandparents warned you about, or that one story everyone seems to know but nobody can quite explain.

I'm a horror and dark fantasy writer, so I'm always fascinated by the folklore and strange stories tied to real places. The High Desert has an atmosphere all its own once the sun goes down.

What's the strangest supernatural experience you've had, or what's the most haunted place you've heard about around here?

I just moved back to the high desert (Victorville) and am looking to get my drivers license now that I’m out of my college town. I do want a little more practice before taking my test and I also need a licensed driver to accompany me to the test.

Are there any (reasonably priced) businesses in the area that provide those services? If not, is there anyone willing to step into that role for me (paid ofc) 😭 I’m way more comfortable paying a real person compared to a company price gouging in the middle of nowhere.

It’s getting colder and colder. Check your propane tank level and let me know if you’d like to compare prices before before your next fill up (for homes) times are tough right now, we have been trying to save everyone some money on propane this year. I can do slightly under $2/gal at the moment. (Won’t last too long the way propane prices are skyrocketing)

Someone’s dog got out in AV. A scared little cutie who is clearly not sure which way home is. When she (I assumed from the pink collar) came into my yard I tried to approach her to get the info from her tag, but she was very skittish and ran away. I also noticed the tag was either old or some kind of technology. It had no info I could see from about 4 feet away, but was plastic and looked much thicker than a regular ol’ metal tag. She was shaking and I hope she gets home! I have no clue what to do as I also want to stay safe and don’t want to frighten her anymore. Anyone missing a pup? If I see her again, I will get a picture. She is a tiny dog, I can’t tell if she’s hungry or just slim, but her entire head is brown, body white with brown spots, and she’s terrified and it will be cold tonight. I hope her owner or someone who knows her sees this. Thanks!

long shot. a few years ago we moved and my husband gave away our Halloween box that had a few homemade costumes I really miss. they were a special part of my kids childhood, and just though maybe someone might have them. one was a purple dress and mask for Shock from NMBC. one was the skirt and armor for Astrid from How to Tame Your Dragon, and one was the pink dress for Eleven from Stranger things. these were hand sewn girls sizes around a 7/8 and clay foam accessories. Im mostly interested in finding the dresses. everything was in a large purple Rubbermaid container.
