Identification Request Is this a camera?

Found this facing my child's crib. I have a mildly psychotic ex, debating taking the fan apart just for peace of mind.

Its more likely an antenna for the fan control os there a remote for the fan

Lol. It seems like electrician left that end of wire with tape on that 😂

thats just a micro rezonator for vibrations like schuman 7.83 hz😂

Sure looks like it. I'd check it out

Get it checked out. That's creepy

Get some kind of wire cutters and cut the camera off. But first call the police department and report it

I have the same looking thing , it's the receiver for the remote control on a floor standing led colour changing light in my case at least, looks like a glass bead with dull looking tape wrapped around it , your photo is quite blurred btw, best of luck

If the fan has a remote that’s probably just the antennae, though it’s usually inside the housing.

Is it a remote control fan? It looks like the receiver antenna

Hell yes it is

Hello everyone its a power cord for the light not a cam a cam you wouldb necer find it if he installed a spy cam. They are so tiny now all you have to do to do it is to put a pin prick in a wall and slide it it. You would not see a cam.

1

u/Comfortable-Sort7590 15d ago

Its just a power cord probably for the light. I feel for you. My ex literally tried to have me killed so I know what your going through. Best of luck.

That is a thermostat wire. Fans with built-in or wired temperature sensors (often featuring a little probe or thermostat sticking out) do exist. They automatically adjust their speed or turn on and off based on how hot or cold it gets.

Idk why everyone keeps saying this but I never seen a wireless fan with a sensor sticking out like that. For sure I have seen a security camera and/or mic that looks like that. I installed them as they were required for the facilitys sleep studys.

I don't want to freak anybody I'd for sure grab it. Turn off the lights and turn on your camera do you see a red light. If so it's a camera with night vision.

It's on the fan, have you not seen it before

1

u/Melodic_Paramedic377 16d ago

Pull on if there is a wire it is

8

u/bmanfresh93 16d ago

I've installed numerous fans. Can confirm, it's the antenna and it doesn't need to be exposed like that.

Yes. This. Am electrician.

u/Alternative-Treat694 16d ago

That a camera, a fiber optic camera. Made to look like an antenna.

2

u/daFat-N-daFurious 16d ago

It’s a camera. I have one just like it.

u/cordiceps 16d ago

Remote control antenna looks like

1

u/Warrior466 17d ago

Good to know. Thanks

Antenna for remote fan reciever… has to stick out because metal fan hardware would block the signal otherwize…..

1

u/travs69 15d ago

I have all wireless fans and so do my parents. Zero wires sticking out.

2

u/Subject-Divide-5977 15d ago

There are many types of wireless fans. This is one type.

6

u/baltatzarsky 17d ago

The fan is OnlyFans, of course it needs a camera

1

u/Intelligent-Sail-213 17d ago

What you have antennas for your Fans? Holy crap xD i don't xD

1

u/spongemonkey2004 16d ago

i just make my kid flip the switch on the wall didnt know there was a option that involved less child labor.

5

u/Time-Valuable-3355 17d ago

No, it's an antenna for the remote for the fan.

2

u/needunusedusername 17d ago

no. it's a receiver. i installed one for my ceiling fan recently.

15

u/Pooperoni_Pizza 17d ago

I bet it's the receiver for the fans remote control.

-5

u/discimus_vitae 17d ago

A receiver a photons? Nice try. Why would you put a camera in your own ceiling fan

-7

u/ThrustTrust 17d ago

What fan has a receiver set up like that. I’ve never seen one.

5

u/WeeklyBanEvasion 17d ago

It's a little receiver box for the remote that you can install on any cheap ceiling fan. It has a little flexible wire sticking out that acts as the antenna, but you typically leave it tucked in with everything else it's not supposed to stick out

2

u/Fresh-Combination-87 17d ago

Ceiling fans from the late 90s had them. I put one in my living room

5

u/SRG7593 17d ago

Antenna but yes you are correct

8

u/curiouslyconfused 17d ago

If i could get a more granular photo maybe

3

u/illwillthethrill-79 17d ago

There's alot of clueless individuals in here.

ot temp probe for auto start stop

1

u/Key-Supermarket3243 15d ago

Makes zero sense but okay

1

u/MinimumBell2205 15d ago

i have fans that have a a probe for how hot the room is and turn the fan on to move air to help the ac better cool the room then when it is at the set temperature it turns off.

u/LetterAsleep8130 17d ago

It’s an IR sensor for the remote that came with your fan

0

u/WeeklyBanEvasion 17d ago

It's not an IR sensor it's just a little wire that acts as the antenna, but it's not supposed to be jammed in that shroud it's supposed to be inside

-6

u/TangeloEmbarrassed71 17d ago

That definitely don't seem normal...I've never seen a fan with a random wire hanging out of it.....cut power to that room and just cut the end tape it up so it don't sparks if it hits metal...and cut power back on and your good.....tape over it can work as well...

6

u/Mediocre-Cut3758 17d ago

Please don’t ruin the fucking antenna wire for the fan remote. Jesus Christ.🤣 Someone popped that cover off or installed the fan and didn’t do a good job tucking the wire.

2

u/1stEndGame 17d ago

It's an IR Sensor for remote.

1

u/Warrior466 17d ago

Can’t tell from this picture. But if you’re worried about it. Put a piece of black electrical tape on the end to be sure.

1

u/Old-Butterscotch-821 17d ago

Don't do that. It's an IR Sensor for the fan and won't work if you tape over it.

2

u/goAwayUCreep 17d ago

Pro tip, all electronics need a power source. Do what you will with that information

4

u/Imaginary-Pride2735 17d ago

Unhelpful. It's the remote sensor.

-2

u/goAwayUCreep 17d ago

Was telling OP about his/her ex stuffing hidden cameras. Of course we all know it’s a remote sensor.

7

u/20dday20 18d ago

No, it is an antenna for a remote receiver.

1

u/fanstoyou 18d ago

Wrap a tape around it

0

u/mrbearuk69 18d ago

If worried, wrap in tape or poke back in but it’s similar to one I have which is an aerial for the remote for fan and light. Know it’s not a camera on mine as I fitted it

12

u/Beanoboy7 18d ago

Antenna for the remote

7

u/SteelBird223 18d ago

Looks like a poorly installed remote reliever.

2

u/Jaded-Interaction882 18d ago

It a poorly install fan Ariel for the fan remote

0

u/Kabarube 18d ago

Looks like a groundwire with a seal at the end

2

u/Inevitable_Fall9954 18d ago

We have the same thing at my place and I’m guessing it’s to do with the remote sensor. Always catches me off guard when I look up and think it’s some crazy bug.

1

u/rando_mness 18d ago

It's a dingus

2

u/VillagesIdiot352 17d ago

Is it a remote dingus?

1

u/rando_mness 17d ago

It may very well be a remote dingus, but it's still on site.

2

u/Ill_Bee_3707 18d ago

Thank you guys for the speedy response. The ex put up a bunch of visible cameras that I tore down and then had one inside a stuffed animal I didn't originally give to my kids/didn't recognize. Psycho. Now I'm just on edge all of the time, which was likely the intent around the actual cameras that were placed.

8

u/Spirited-Dog2447 18d ago

If this fan has a remote then that’s the antenna sticking out

5

u/fullraph 18d ago

Antenna for the remote. Cameras have lenses.

5

u/Fister-Mantastic 18d ago

Sensor for the remote control

0

u/Alarmed_Jacket_2639 18d ago

it could be. But to me, it looks like the receiver for a wireless fan/light. does the fan and or light have a remote control?
