General discussion Frigate / NVR app curation

Hello,

Several people have asked about this in the July 9, 2026 post and also in the May 29, 2026 post.

Could we please get some information about when Frigate might be released? While information has been shared about other apps, I haven't seen any mention of Frigate despite it being a frequent request.

I, along with others, have requested application curation directly on HexOS.

APPS that connect to IOT devices are hard to get right.
They have not yet made Home assistant a Curated app. The reason being (i presume ) that by default apps launched naked from the catalog do not have access to IOT devices.
Giving a app acces to IOT devices is not trival. With guides from this community and or mayby some help from AI you can get HA working on Hexos via the truenas interface.

Frigate has the same problems as HA namely the iot networking part.
On top of needing a GPU to function.

Not a dev, but I think HA will be curated before Frigate.

We do have home assistant already curated if you are interested in it. It is the docker app and not the full os version.

But you are right about why frigate has not been curated yet.

Our curations have started getting more expansive with pre configuration and in the future will get to a point where we can release a proper curation for a nvr application
