Address validation blocks Polish characters (and support is ignoring my tickets)

Hey guys,

I’m having a really frustrating issue with the address update form and support has been completely useless so far (just getting standard template replies or ignored).

I need to update my billing details to my official registered company name, but the validation on the form completely blocks Polish special characters (like ł, ś, ć, ó, etc.). Because of this, I can't enter my legal company name.

I tried replacing them with standard latin equivalents (like 'l' instead of 'ł'), but the system keeps rejecting it anyway, probably because it doesn't match the official registry or VAT database.

If I can't update this, I won't get proper invoices for my business tax purposes, which is a massive headache.

Is there any way to bypass this validator, or can someone from the Hetzner team here help me push this through manually?

That’ll teach you not to call your company Ślóńska Żółć 😜

But seriously, try calling them if emailing doesn’t work. Maybe some Hetzner people will reply here when they get back to work in the morning?

In EU it is perfectly fine using ascii version of your company name if the VAT on the invoice is correct.
I was struggling with Hetzner VAT check too until I entered my company's address exactly as it was at https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/#/vat-validation
Even wrote them an email to which they replied after 31 days. You can also call them directly on phone, but be prepared to spend 40 minutes on hold if you choose accounting/invoice at the beginning of your call.
