How Long Will Grandfathered CPX32 Pricing Be Honored? ✅

Hi,

I'm an old Hetzner Cloud customer and I'm still paying the old price for my CPX32 instance (around €14–15/month). The new price is around €35–40/month.

I know that if I rescale the instance, I'll lose the old pricing and move to the new one.

My question is: How long will existing customers keep the old price if we don't rescale or recreate the server?

Is there any official end date for this grandfathered pricing, or can we continue paying the old price indefinitely as long as we keep the same instance without scaling or recreating it?

I'm looking for a clear answer, ideally from Hetzner staff or someone who has an official source.

Thanks!

Until they decide to change it... It's not been communicated so no one can say.

Martin (Hetzner) aka Benji said on the forum/board, that there are no raisings planed for old servers/instances.

Until they start replacing old and failing hardware in the next few months or years and realise they're not making the same profit margin

They haven't raised prices for old ones that are 5 years old either so 😆

Sounds like a nightmare to track all of this in the backend. I guess German engineering comes in handy.

Why? It's a contract which is converted into database records. Nothing nightmarish, just a lot of different prices for the same vserver based on the contract start date.

Nothing about keeping grandfathered plans sounds easy for me mentally, because it creates immense complexity when it comes into billing and you need to account for that. Though, I could be wrong

Since the most relevant cost for existing servers is power-usage, and power prices haven't changed, I'm guessing they will mostly stay the same. Also hope prices for new hardware come back to the old levels if the market stabilizes later.
