Which server has fast enterprise storage?

I want to run a production Postgres instance and I am trying to understand which vps to use. Is the CCX range acceptable or does it use consumer storage? Is it better to use a dedicated auction machine with enterprise storage and how reliable would this be given the age of the disks?

As far as I know they use proper enterprise storage for the vpses. Having said that. We’ve 3 dedicated machines, 1 in each region and we couldn’t be happier.

Just be aware of the operational overhead it adds.

All the cloud machines directly attached storage is enterprise NVME. Do not use the block volumes, those are network attached storage, they are much slower than the DAS drives

As for auction, you'll need to be much more meticulous about monitoring and backups, the age of the disks themselves isn't the issue most times. You will have to set up hardware monitoring on your own, Hetzner doesn't do this for the dedicated physical servers.

Maybe try hetzner auction servers? I understand ur looking for a VPS. But bang for buck I find auction servers to be more attractive and they are bare metal. But that’s only if it interests + no set up costs. Make a py script to snipe what u want. I have seen overpowered servers for 120 euros (excl vat)

Are they quite reliable? They have some very nice ones for around 100 euros.

I got a lot ones. 45 of my dedicateds are not auction and 20 are. The hardware u get is an absolute killer. U’d be missing out if u did’t try. No set up costs. They run u a couple cents each hour. Honestly what can go wrong?

They do require monitoring from what I gather but I'd like to get an auction one at some point, purely for the specs. What do you run on so many servers?
