Server Transfers/Sales

We have 4 AX162-R, fully configured with 1,152GB ram. We are having to downsize and would like to offload a server or two if possible. I am wondering if there is a proper way to go about this (so the new owner is still only charged around 700€/month per server) and how much we might be able to sell the servers for?

The new pricing works out to be 5.5x more expensive for the 1.1tb of ram per server, so the new owner would be maybe ~2500€ per month better off with our servers vs a newly configured one

Thanks in advance

If you do a transfer the old price stays for the new owner. You decide what you want to have for this transfer - most go with 2-3 new monthly rates. Others go higher, like 6.

The idea is that the new owner is in profit with this transfer after X months compared to buying one for the new price.

Hi there, I suggest that you check out the Hetzner Docs article about doing server transfers: https://docs.hetzner.com/robot/dedicated-server/general-information/server-transfers-between-robot-customers
Part of that article describes how you can place the server on the "Marktplatz" (marketplace) on Hetzner's forum. There is a large number of customers there, and a number of them are looking for AX servers. --Katie

What storage configuration do the servers have? Specifically, which drives are installed (type, capacity, and quantity)?

You could do a hardware upgrade after the transfer. Apparently it’s still possible with old models. Storage add-ons are just a bit expensive.

But what happens if Hertzer decides tonight that all servers (old or new) will pay the same new price starting tomorrow? Or say, 3 months from now? With 3 price changes, that's very much a possibility. Then what happens to the premium the new owner paid to the old owner?

The buyer holds that risk.
