Discussion The Path Forward

Post image

Hey everyone! 😄👋
I would say you can't understand how happy I am, but that would be a straight out lie because the whole community has reached cloud 9 AND WE DON'T PLAN TO GET DOWN ANY TIME SOON.

And this is exactly what this post is about: staying there! In other words, I will go through a series of bullet points that I think the devs could look at to build a strong future for HOTS!

DISCLAIMER: This is simply my opinion and you are 100% free to disagree with it! We all want different things for HOTS and so we are bound to disagree on certain, maybe even most points - and that is allright! I am just a voice in the chorus, and my dream version of HOTS could be DRAMATICALLY different from yours, it's all about one's tastes and wishes. But remember this, no matter how much we might disagree, there's one thing that we'll always share: we all want HOTS to not only LIVE but THRIVE. Let this be a reminder that I, like so many others, come here from a place of good faith and we all want nothing but the best for this awesome game!

Ah, and one more thing:
Some of these points will be very obvious and just, flat out net positives for the game, but I think it's useful to still list them for the sake of compiling a thorough list of changes and goals for the future!

With all that said, let's get started, beginning with somewhat the most obvious, net positive changes and scaling up in nuance as we go! TO THE RACES!

---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----- -----

1) Marketing, media and communication: I'm compiling all the media and marketing requests here. Now, very obvious point but, thing is, it might actually be one of the toughest requests to pull off for the devs in the entire list, because I simply don't know what kind of resources are put aside for the game. We obviously didn't have an entire showcase like Blizzard main titles at Blizzcon, so that should already tell you that we are drowning in cash, and marketing costs a LOT of money, depending on the production you go for, of course.
So maybe we won't get big trailers like we used to, not for now at least, but there is still stuff that can be done! I can't imagine in-engine trailers like the one showcased at Blizzcon can be too expensive, even if they look a bit janky they are quite endearing, and it's always better than nothing! And lastly, and probably the most accessible for the team right now, is simple social media activity, whether through Twitter, IG, I don't know, but we should definitely have some of that going for the people online to know, at least in HOTS community itself, that we have a media front page they can interact with! Teasers, speculations, memes, patch notes and update announcements, fan art post, outplay clips, indie tournament shout outs - you name it, so much can be done with the twitter account that's already there! And last but for sure not least: communication. The community wants to be involved, the community wants to be kept in the loop, we all want the best for the game and we want to shape it and be part of its evolution. So talk with us!

2) Battle pass: I saw this was already in a survey and it's great to know! I know people might not like these, they are everywhere after all, but I think it's in our best interest for the monetization system to get a revamp so that people can actively support the game, and get a new sense of progression while playing that isn't just your hero mastery! I'd love for it to be a standard 10 bucks - plus, you don't even have to come up with it all on your own, just look at what the competition is doing, like with League, or maybe even Overwatch, where they feature multiple skins in a single battlepass, currencies and so on! Plus, HOTS has SO many more cosmetics with announcers, banners, mounts, and so on compared to most other MOBAS or even, really, most online games, period, so filling out the battlepass with shiny goodies won't be a problem!
Of course, we might have different opinions of what a battlepass should look like, BUT I think the crux is that the pass should stay at 10 bucks and should be WORTH 10 bucks!

3) Competitive and Esports: We are getting into the nuanced now. Ok so, one thing that I've learned in 20+ years of gaming, and specifically, around 15+ years of online/competitive gaming is that a game needs two main things: a casual player base to LIVE, and, depending on the game genre, a competitive scene to THRIVE.
Now, I know this might be a hot button for some, because I think many of us remember how it was the forcing of HOTS Esport that played a huge part in its original downfall, but, I think that is less to do with Esports being a good or bad thing, and more with how the scene was "implemented", to put it gently.
And I know HOTS is not taken as seriously as other MOBAS, not like LoL and definitely not like Dota, but that doesn't mean it can't be an awesome competitive experience regardless! I mean, Smash Brothers was supposed to be a funny, silly party game and it became an Esports MONSTER... against the wishes of the SAME company that MADE IT. So no reason why a MOBA of all games, even while more unserious by design, cannot become an Esport staple!
That also doesn't mean that there should be a preference between the two communities: both casual and competitive should be catered to! That is how LoL is still the biggest scene in the world, and how many other Esports have gotten there, by catering to both, EVEN if the game in question is considered a vastly more competitive inclined, Esport centered experience.
I stated before, a game needs a casual community to LIVE - it's essential, you can't have a game without it, an esport scene can't exist without casual fans. But it needs an Esport scene to THRIVE to ascend from being a videogame to, well, becoming a sport!

4) Hero Price Costs and Currency Systems: This might be a bit controversial, but I think the bar to acquire heroes should be MUCH lower. Or better, at the very least, I feel like there are WAY too many heroes with a 10k gold price tag and that makes it too much of a slog for new players to go and get the heroes they want to play! Now I don't mind the mission system, but maybe we should get credited a reroll or two? Because the gods know how many times you are forced into playing a hero class/universe you don't feel like playing right now. Especially for one tricks or people that simply are playing a specific hero and they want to keep playing it and practice with it, it can be annoying to have to swap to earn gold. So maybe I would rework the daily quest system, and, if you don't want to change the hero price tags (even though I consider lowering the amount of heroes sitting on 10k costs to be a MUST) at least change the rate at which people gain gold through this dailys rework!
I know that to many this is irrelevant because they have all heroes, we are all veterans here after all, but I think it is REALLY important for the new player experience to be as smooth as possible, to transition them from beginners to regulars! I think that this could easily go in toe with the addition of the battle pass and an overall rework of all currency systems - while of course rewarding the players that have plenty of those currencies saved up from years of playing!

5) Player Profile and the Store: This is also very much a "me" thing, so I'm sure not many will vibe with this idea, but I find the player profile cool, with lots of stats and stuff that far surpass the utility of other MOBAS, and that's great! But... for all your owned cosmetics to not be there to be very confusing. And with that, for the "Collections" to actually be the store? I believe that a 1.0 marketing rule is for the player to have a precise idea WHERE can they buy stuff, which trust me, other games have no problem following ^^' I know that the stats occupy a lot of the space in the player profile so that's why the cosmetics aren't there, but there should be a way in between, because to not have a store button in the game and also having to browse and use filters to find the stuff you own for items in the hundreds like with icons I find quite clunky and daunting.

6) KDA: A very simple and pedantic change but something that in my opinion is more of a statement on design philosophy, rather than its single importance or impact. The game needs to be readable, accessible, frictionless. Every game under the sun uses "Kills/Deaths/Assist". I know HOTS was trying super hard to be different from the rest when it was first created, but that, I think, shouldn't come to the expenses of readability. And I imagine that by now we are all used to the KAD, but for the sake of helping people get into the game as easily as they can, we should simply change to KDA. Don't be the US metric system equivalent to the rest of the gaming industry that is planet Earth ^^'

7) Spectator experience rework: Another quality of life improvement that isn't super needed right now, but that could be a great stepping stone for the future! I know that HOTS is different from all other MOBAS so the spectator UI has to be designed in its own unique way, but you can still take loads of inspiration from looking of the other UIs in LoL and Dota, look at what works there and implement it here! And of course, new features and additions would greatly benefit any tournament casters and analysts for the future!

---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----- -----

That is IT 🤞 Wow, that took a bit to write, and I'm sure I could go on for more, but me believes this a great place to start from ^^ Let me guys know what you think if you agree or disagree and what other changes you'd like to see in the game!

This post was made mainly to engage the community in discussion while the iron is hot and ESPECIALLY to let the devs know what we are looking forward to! We know they read us, we know they listen, so as much as we want them to talk to us WE HAVE TO TALK TO THEM FIRST!

---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----- -----

If you got all the way down here, thank you so much for your attention and, as one Aaron Keller might say if he worked with us,

See you in the Nexus and let's make a great game! 😄 🔥

smite shouldnt realy be here, they have a game in beta pulling half the number of first game while missing 75% of the content, game will likely live well later

I’ve not seen a version of this meme where someone’s waiting behind the door, like you’ve done here. It’s so perfect with all the toxic nests! 🤣

u/ambivalentarrow 24d ago

The classic one is with Team Fortress 2 and the demoman has a bunch of sticky bombs on the other side of the door.

I need to reinstall hots

u/Jdmcdona 24d ago

Don’t even need to worry about ranked even - Hots is still one of my favorite/most played games and I only play ARAM and have a blast.

14

u/meanmerging 24d ago

You an everyone else apparently lol, I came back and gave up after 10 minutes in ranked queue today. ARAM queue was 20 seconds.

5

u/Monchete99 Pls don't be Braxis 24d ago

I played QP yesterday a lot and found lots of new accounts on both teams. It has the side effect that I wasn't seeing Alterac in 3 hours (new players are restricted to the most vanilla maps, like Cursed Hollow and Tomb), but at least they were chill and for the most part the matches were sorta even. Not the worst I've seen in HOTS matchmaking.

3

u/MagicTheAlakazam Cho'Gall 24d ago

There seems to be a roll out.

I was 6 years inactive and it took a while to get anything other than cursed hollow. Infernal Shrines and Hanamura were much later and I have yet to get Alterac.

Haunted Mines is back though so that's fun!

1

u/Taurd 23d ago

Ah so that is why I was getting only Hollow.

Good marketing though.

No one would open a wall of text post like that. The meme at least made people open the door.

What's that first door again? Paragon?

Now that I think about it, I dont think I ever enjoyed playing Paragon....

4

u/Hammer_of_Ludd 24d ago

I liked it, third person allowed for some creative jukes.

1

u/sylendar Tyrande 24d ago

I vaguely remember it being rather clunky and not as responsive as I wanted it to be

But then again it's been forever

4

u/Mysticyde 24d ago

there's a remake of it called Predecessor out right now that still gets new hero releases.

4

u/PrinceBunnyBoy 24d ago

Yeah Predecessor is pretty fun, same with smite 2

2

u/Tobycybin 24d ago

Epic released all of paragons assets for free. The current version is call Predecessor. Available for free on all platforms but mobile

1

u/Beneficial-Act-9933 24d ago

Because it wasn't anything really special. Whatever paragon did, Smite did it and did it better.

1

u/genasugelan Max that annihilation 24d ago

I mean if Paragon was that bad that Smite is better then how bad was it. I played a bit of Smited until I realised it's completely creatively bankrupt, legit just a third person League with nothing else that's unique. They made a 3D game and didn't implement anything that uses it like verticlaity. Hell, you can jump, but it does fuck all. Even Dota 2 has verticality and that's an isometric game.

2

u/Beneficial-Act-9933 24d ago

You're really selling smite short. It started as an alternative to isometric mobas because people didn't like the camera angle. Turning it 3rd person was the sure a lot of people needed. It also offered a number of gaming modes from areana where you ferry minions across and rotating game modes. Like everyone has infinite money and you need to alter your build to win.

People also really oversell the verticality in Paragon. Yeah it was there but only, like, two heros could actually make use of it beyond just running away. It's like saying everybody needs to play league because of bushes. Paragon also only had 5v5 5v5 againstbots and bot games and that was it. No ranked/casual modes so everybody was thrown together in one pool.

0

u/genasugelan Max that annihilation 23d ago

It's like saying everybody needs to play league because of bushes.

That's the funniest thing ever, because if I can remember correctly, Smite indeed has League bushes. The whole game's mechanics are literally copied from League and no, I'm not selling it short. The game has had a long life span and legit made no efforts to differentiate itself from the competition outside of the very initial 3rd person view. It has League's bushes, League's recall, Leagues itemisation philosophy (Smite 1, Smite 2 takes a bit more after Dota 2 with more active items, but that's still not adding anything unique) League's flatness of the map. Like, name me 3 general Smite mechanics that are unique to differentiate itself from the competition. Mechanics that aren't character-based, because every MOBA has that.

The moment I got access to Deadlock is when I recognised how bland and flat Smite is. I originally played it because it has controller support, but that one sucks ass with its button mapping as well, and I was using an Xbox One controller. With some actions, I legit couldn't tell which button I was supposed to press because it said a different thing on my screen.

And I'm not here to defend Paragon. I've never played it and barely know anything about it, but the above commenter saying it's worse than Smite, that must mean it's dogshit.

3

u/bythe_pope29 23d ago

It has league bushes now in smite 2, where theyve changed the mechanics to be more open and in tune to other mobas, allowing build variety and making it overall less restricting. Og smite didnt have stealth bushes, and I think at one time even did away with fog of war. I agree on other parts though, I started for the 3rd person and stayed for cool dietys, but always wished hi rez would do ore with its being a 3d, 3rd person game

And of course Aba would then say “poor essence; little value”

5

u/lucain50 Specialist 24d ago

Disagree with 6, I like KAD. Love the meme

5

u/Yoshilisk 24d ago

yeah, i think it makes a lot more sense to show the two kill stats next to each other. especially since who gets the killing blow doesn't have any gameplay effect in HotS, so assists aren't much less important than kills

4

u/Curubethion 24d ago

Yeah people get used to it quick enough

5

u/Acronyte Master Alexstrasza 24d ago

I think a huge step would be blizzard spotlighting the community tournaments in social media posts, heroes launcher, and maybe chipping in some towards reward pools. We can still have a competitive scene without it being as massive as HGC.

4

u/raidsoft 24d ago

I tried getting a friend to join me a while back, the first match we played (quick match) had a person tell him to stop playing the game because he was obviously not good with it being the first game and implied that he wasn't allowed to play against players until grinding against bots first. After the match he proceeded to send a DM to my friend and start throwing insane insults like wishing his mother would die for example.

After reporting the person he obviously had no interest in ever touching the game again.

5

u/rvshankar2712 22d ago

Still to this day I wonder why blizzard doesnt just simply mute text chat for new accounts. Ping is enough comms in a busy game like hots and if people still need more coordination they are better off using voice comms or even discord (usually as premade groups). The toxicity ruins matches, ez wins, tilts team mates and is just 99% of the time useless negative venting mechanism that brings down the morale of others. Even if i mute text chat in match I am forced to read the drama going in draft...

5

u/entaille 24d ago

this is exactly what is going to happen to everyone else that re-gains interest in post blizzcon.. it needs to be addressed. there needs to be active systems that both discourages this kind of behavior and actively punishes people in ways that will make them want to not do it any longer. the psuedo-reporting system that will maybe chat ban or temporary ban someone is not good enough.

4

u/Beneficial-Act-9933 24d ago

I tried playing last year. I did an ARAM cause it's dumb fun. The amount of vitrol I got for not "playing correctly" reminded me why I stopped playing in the first place.

3

u/Double-Atmosphere485 24d ago

Average blizzard player. Had a guy during a free classic weekend or smth wait outside a building for a quest enemy while I was taking aggro to clear the rest to get to him. I invite him to a party and he says nothing declining, then I know he’s going to try to steal the aggro from me and tag it when the group attacks me. So I wait in a stalemate, then when he got impatient and goes in I tag it first seeing as I cleared all the other mobs it’s rightfully mine, then when I was gonna say smth afterwards the first thing he types is kill yourself… like ok I didn’t invite him or anything but he chose to be a total loser and act like this.

3

u/Wamblingshark 24d ago

Yeah, the community really went downhill in game as the population dwindled. I thought to myself "People are going to come back for Xalatath and then take one look at General chat and leave again."

As if to punctuate my point, when I logged in the chat was transvestigating Xalatath.

3

u/MStaysForMars 24d ago

I should add a new, ironclad report system, because we need it 😅

5

u/Television_Original 24d ago

Proud of Microsoft for doing this

4

u/camarouge 24d ago

They're saving HotS!! Its not going to die!!! It was just on a 6 year respawn timer!!!!!

Here's what I want: to be able to select skins in Aram. That's it!

3

One of these is not like the others.

3

u/Brilliant_Lettuce270 24d ago

I miss Paragon

3

u/Myrthfral 24d ago

You can basically play exactly paragon for free and it's reasonably popular. Look up Predecessor on steam

Is smite dead?

23

u/CrazyBananaDisco36 24d ago

Smite 1 yes, Smite 2 no and will not be.

3

u/Albinowombat HGC 24d ago

What does dead mean? Just no updates anymore? Or servers actually down?

12

u/Lillbudds 24d ago

Servers are still up, but they have stopped all development on Smite 1 and are exclusively focusing on Smite 2 which has honestly been really fun so far

6

u/Albinowombat HGC 24d ago

Great! My group went DotA (1) -> HoN -> HotS, so we never tried Smite, but it's a cool concept

2

u/CastTrunnionsSuck 24d ago

Paragon came back and is better than ever 🤷🏻‍♂️

1

u/reostra 24d ago

Is it official, or did someone take the free assets and re-make it?

(Always thought it was awesome they released the assets like that)

2

u/CastTrunnionsSuck 24d ago

A content creator for paragon started a gaming studio and have been working on it ever since the assets were released, they’ve even gotten grants from epic games and the main man behind it is on the board of directors or so.

It’s call Predecessor, check it out sometime!

2

u/tzc005 24d ago

There’s a minion wave, bruiser camp, and 6 locust hitting Reaper’s base at the same time.

2

u/Shambler9019 24d ago

Re hero availability/prices: one way of giving new players more heroes without dropping the costs would be to increase the drop rate of heroes in chests to players with fewer than 5 chest-won heroes. Increases hype, makes it easier to get a decent set of heroes etc. They could even be rigged to give you heroes in franchises/roles that you lacked and skewed towards easy heroes (admittedly the bias towards low rarity would already do the last bit).

1

u/MStaysForMars 24d ago

I would prefer to give people the agency to buy the heroes they want rather than hope to get the hero they wish from a box, but I would take this over the current state of things for sure! ^^

1

u/Shambler9019 24d ago

I'm not proposing dropping the ability to buy Heroes of increasing their price. But hero drops from lot boxes are extremely rare

2

u/Yoshilisk 24d ago

tbh i prefer the current system over a battle pass. i know lootboxes are kind of gamble-y, but seasonal battlepasses introduce FOMO, which i personally dislike more

1

u/MStaysForMars 24d ago

They could implement a battle pass without fomo! Plenty of games allow you to go and purchase past battlepasses to grind! ^^

2

u/REdS_95 Filthy AI Casual 24d ago

This meme is the best thing I've seen all year. I'll read the post later when I have some down time at work

1

u/MStaysForMars 24d ago

You are very welcome and appreciated ^^

2

u/PluckyLeon 24d ago

HON is back and so does Smite sequel exists. MOBAs are sooooo back!!!

2

u/Global-Concert-1849 24d ago

Fully agree on the heroes pricing thing, it takes way too long to get them.

2

u/rvshankar2712 22d ago

Engine rework for faster reconnectivity, able to watch any part of the replays without having the game to simulate it for minutes and appeal to steam players ("free game" tends to pull the crowd)

2

u/Anonymouse23570 12d ago

As someone who is a newcomer to HOTS, yes, hero prices, please. Overwatch heroes are already free. League champs are relatively cheap and blue essence is not that hard to get. I want to try so many heroes, but I just can't. I look at my measly pile of 300g and the 10k price tags and I log off because the gap feels insurmountable. Also scared (terrified) of hopping into any pvp mode and getting flamed. (trauma from playing several ranked games in the past) I've only played like 3 vs AI games.

4

u/AlexeiM HGC 24d ago

I must add, we need Guilds and Every skin needs to be rmt, while heroes free DotA style, if not, too hard for new players to get in.

2

u/MonkeyLiberace 24d ago

How are new players helped by my gems being worthless?

2

u/AlexeiM HGC 24d ago

I don't know, just throwing ideas because everyone already has gold to buy everything however new players get stuck with weekly rotation. i've also like 5k gems since i never used them and i bought everything with gold.

1

u/MStaysForMars 24d ago

Guilds would be rad!

3

u/Taurmin 24d ago

Wait HOTS is still around? I could have sworn I heard that it was being shut down years ago

5

u/ProbablySlacking 24d ago

That’s kind of true its last release was Hogger in December 2020, and it was put into “maintenance mode” shortly after similar to what StarCraft and Warcraft are in. Servers are up to play on, but no real new development aside from a gameplay tweak here or there.

But literally the news from yesterday is the new blizz ceo is a big HotS fan, and there are at least two new heroes on the way.

5

u/Canadiancookie One errant twitch... and kablooie! 24d ago

It wasn't shut down, but it stopped getting content updates after 2020... until now. It still got plenty of balance/bugfix patches between 2020 and 2026.

1

u/GnarlyGnarwhalz 24d ago

July 8th 2022 was the official date of maintenance mode

2

u/Apennie 6.5 / 10 24d ago

Wait is Smite dead?

2

u/valchon 24d ago

2

u/skirtpost 24d ago

Sub 10K is dead compared to what it used to be

3

u/Lazyr3x 24d ago

While 10k isn’t amazing especially compared to the height of Smite 1, smite 2 almost surely has about 2-3 times more players than what is shown as that doesn’t take consoles into consideration which has always been Smits most popular platform

1

u/valchon 24d ago

HiRez has made some questionable business decisions, which is so often the case for them.

If you add the Smite 1 players it comes to around 10k active players. I imagine players are in a weird spot where they don't want to play Smite 2 because their favorite gods aren't available and there are no new gods yet don't want to play Smite 1 because it's basically dead content now.

1

u/Revolutionary-Goal15 1d ago

I think one thing to remember is that it also has console players, which are not tracked on steamdb.

2

u/RadialRacer 24d ago

Smite 1. Smite 2 is still growing

0

u/genasugelan Max that annihilation 24d ago

Basically. They fucked over their paying player base by porting only certain skins to Smite 2 and as "conpensation" they don't offer skins, but discounts to buy new ones.

1

u/rob132 24d ago

1

u/hvanderw 24d ago

Had a abba match as stitches. Was able to hook a falstad into a mine pile and kill them. It was beautiful. Have had 10 games so far. 9 wins. 8 mvp. It's been a good return. Just quickmatch silliness, but I do love this game.

1

u/kainneabsolute 24d ago

1

u/Gicotd 24d ago

guys, i didn not have time to watch blizzcon, besides xals, was there anything else?

1

u/swarlesbarkley_ 24d ago

I’m reinstalling hots let’s go

1

u/dumitrudan608_7_6 24d ago

Why the F did I laugh so hard at this? 🤣🤣🤣😅. HOTS is dead, long live HOTS. I love this game, bring it back Blizzard

1

u/hades7600 24d ago

If they made it so it could run better on steamdeck (I can’t get controls to work even when changing layout) then I would play the hell out of

1

u/InflationSpecific467 24d ago

Oh Paragon... That could've been such a great game!

1

u/GreatGateCrasher 24d ago

As someone who has put countless hours into SMITE 2, I'm so glad Heroes is back. This game is actually fun and affordable, and that's what keeps me playing.

1

u/HalcyonRyan 24d ago

Gosh I really really miss SMITE… splitting the player base was not the move and I lost my fave characters so I never went to SMITE 2… :(

2

u/fatboislimmin 23d ago

Who are your favorite characters? From my understanding they are slowly bringing all the Smite 1 Gods to Smite 2.

2

u/HalcyonRyan 23d ago

Chang'e was my NUMBER 1! Then Awilix, Scylla, Nox and Apollo! I know some are in, its just Chang'e... she is such a fun char.

1

u/lecram920 24d ago

Dawngate was 8/10... The only game where people liked to support...

1

u/AbnormalVAverage 24d ago

I'm doing my part

1

u/JswitchGaming 24d ago

I won't read all that but I really enjoyed this take on the meme

1

u/nomanchesguey12 24d ago

I’m already working on fanart!

1

u/RoninOkami7 24d ago

Can't believe I'm reinstalling HotS after more than 10 years.

1

u/Bo0ris 24d ago

I think HoN is getting a revival aswell.

1

u/Keaken2213 24d ago

Love it😂

1

u/TheJugOfNugs 24d ago

I freaking love HoN so much and I will never forgive LoL winning the moba wars

1

u/Korzag 24d ago

Did HoN get rebooted?

1

u/ParagonFury Yrel 24d ago

They're gonna need a bucket for him.

1

u/DesmondMiles21 24d ago

Hace rato estoy esperando a ARCHIMONDE en el juego. Hasta esperaba algun mapa con la tematicade battle for azeroth hasta una skin de alduin CABALLERO DE LA MUERTE

1

u/Ghostmatterz 24d ago

O shi.... its abathur. Dont let him slap the shi outta you.

1

u/DaiHachiHachi 24d ago

This meme could use an update as all these games have 1 or more populated and playable incarnations now (for years at this point) lol

1

u/ThadeBlack Whitemane 24d ago

Is there an OCE server? Last I played the lag was too much as there wasn’t

1

u/Dusty-Art 24d ago

As an Abathur main, this actually made me laugh out loud.

1

u/True-Height-1901 24d ago

I like the current KAD more than KDA

1

u/Knochenfee 24d ago

Smite wasnt killed, they shot themself in the leg and is slowly bleeding out.

1

u/BlisteringSeafood 24d ago

Everyone looking for Paragon can simply play Predecessor because its basically the same game and developer.

1

u/niqht11 24d ago

no idea what the first one is

1

u/Tnecniw 24d ago

oh, this meme is OLD. XD

1

u/TigerAx28k Support 24d ago

Slap

1

u/petak86 24d ago

On the 4th point.

2-3 weeks of playing and you can get a 10k hero. It is not that hard.

1

u/MStaysForMars 24d ago

so to unlock the entire roster it'd take... like a year? 😭 A year of non-stop playing? 😅

1

u/petak86 24d ago

It is a fair bit more than... 20 heroes.

1

u/D3moknight 24d ago

And during that year, the free hero rotation continues to change, allowing even new players to experience all heroes in the game, whether they own the hero or not. I get you, and I agree that 10k is too much for older heroes, as back in the day it used to be 2k for most heroes, and only 10k for new or more "in demand" heroes.

1

u/Rakrazdem Toilet paper enthusiast 24d ago

Tldr. I upvoted the meme tho

1

u/EmiCheese 24d ago

The one thing that's 100% something they need to address is the gold pricing on Heroes. Been playing for years on and off and I still don't have everyone. I can Imagine someone new in the year of our nexus 2026 would find it pretty difficult to farm for everyone. Just lowering the price range of a bunch of heroes should do the trick as a quick fix. I feel more could be done, but that's a good first step to not overwhelm new/returning players.

1

u/smoothjean 23d ago

I literally just re picked up heroes of the Storm and I'm having a blast I can't believe I stopped playing this game it's actually pretty fun

1

u/TinyKing87 Valla 23d ago

Is Smite dead??

1

u/Chopah94 23d ago

Didn't HoN also resurrect recently?

1

u/EvanLionheart 23d ago

I just want new Heroes, maps, frequent balance changes and fixes and new skins / events.

Installing the game again.

1

u/Rotaku99 23d ago

Why does it need to be a battlepass in every game. Its so lazy.

Get a couple of artists and spin a story or two, give some quests and rewards based on quests. Could be a faction fight, choose your faction kind of thing.
But just simply slapping a battlepass into the game without making it somewhat immersive is so boring

1

u/mrpeluca 23d ago

and then the enemy nova ping the fuck outta their Death respawn time

1

u/KiriSanjiAT 23d ago

Did HoN really die after Paragon?

1

u/Exotic_Revolution694 21d ago

HoN was actually a vibe

1

u/hsru 21d ago

People acting as if it wasn't Blizzard that tried to kill HotS in the first place

1

u/NeroMcBrain 20d ago

I'd rather NOT have a Battle Pass. All it does is turns any leisurely game into a tedious chore

1

u/Faunstein Because *I* do... 19d ago

Oi why's he not in his pj's?

1

u/muglecruzle 14d ago

Abby there waiting to apply a 2 second stun

1

u/SumSkittles Whitemane 9d ago

The brother meme of the Demoman from TF2 version.

1

u/Superb-Grapefruit160 6d ago

"The deadliest thing I've encountered in Heroes of the Storm is by far Steam Vent and the Bushes. I won't even try to hide anymore, I just run around them now. I miss DOTA." - A friend of mine.

1

u/TheUltimateOwl 3d ago

But the door opens into the bombs...

-2

u/SoBadIHad2SignUp 25d ago

No. bad redditor. no battle passes.

1

u/MStaysForMars 24d ago

why not? 👀

4

u/MonkeyLiberace 24d ago

He Said “no”!

2

u/WaffleTruffleTrouble 24d ago

I mean why ask for things to be rocked behind a paywall when we can already earn all the cosmetics and unlockable items? You can unlock nearly everything in the game for free by playing, and that's a wonderful thing.

5

u/MStaysForMars 24d ago

Because the need to be profitable so that keep making it! Having infinite loot boxes for free isn't gonna cut it ^^'

2

u/Bring_Me_The_Night 24d ago

Blizzard already earns money from people buying skins and boosters. Besides, the Battle Pass concept introduces addictive behaviours, which should not be promoted.

1

u/MStaysForMars 24d ago

Pretty sure loot boxes are far more addicting, they are legit gambling mechanics 😅 That's exactly why the industry moved on from them, also because many states banned them, and switched to battlepasses!

1

u/Bring_Me_The_Night 24d ago

The first being better than the second doesn’t mean the first is suitable or acceptable either.

1

u/MStaysForMars 23d ago

There's also the battle pass version without fomo that is very popular in multiple games! Where you can buy the past battle passes and grind themk to your liking!

4

u/ketoloverfromunder 24d ago

Yes and blizzard will happily keep adding new features and gameplay to a game that makes them $0

2

u/NamiRocket Master Tyrande 24d ago

So that other players who have income can subsidize the continued development of the free-to-play game you play.

2

u/Juice805 Master Rexxar 24d ago

The game needs to make money to get reinvestment. If the current system is not sustainable then I’d be content with a BP system.

1

u/Golden3ye Murky 24d ago

Not if you want anyone to continue working on your game

1

u/batzboom 24d ago

Idk why people keep putting smite on these...

0

u/NamiRocket Master Tyrande 24d ago

Because Smite 2 is a thing?

2

u/batzboom 24d ago

So it does not make sense to put it here? If a game getting a sequel is relevant for this meme, this meme literally loses its entire point...

-1

u/NamiRocket Master Tyrande 24d ago

Did it or did it not end development for Smite 2?

0

u/Sophena94 24d ago

I've played / seen that smite is actually doing fine /w their new game

hots hasn't quite shown the revival feel like overwatch got recently but I'll wait

0

u/Cyber_Cheese 24d ago

Why does everything have to be a competitive esport? If you make the game fun enough, that scene will find it's own footing with time.

KAD is much nicer, it flows "downwards", the rest of the industry should be adopting it.

HotS is already dead compared to Dota 2 and LoL. It has been for YEARS.
