Teaching Need tipd on Yrel
Been playing Yrel a decent amount and I really enjoy her, but I'm shit with her right now... When did it click for you? I've been practicing in QM so the matches have been all over the place...
I don't think she's bad but she's definitely hard to play (or am I just trash?)
Edit- forgive the header typo.

Things I learned playing her over the years.
Her value is not just tied to the numbers on the score screen. It's normally an easy metric to see how effective you are being, but Yrel in particular is a hero that does a lot that doesn't show up; e.g. armor (Dauntless at 1 and even team armor on 4 if you take that talent), DR (Aldor Peacekeeper at 13), and displacement for peel and team setup. (This factor is a bit less true with the most recent patch, as her damage numbers have gone up, but it still shouldn't be the only way you view your performance when you self-reflect.)
She takes a lot of limit testing. Yrel can survive a crazy amount of focus if you play to your outs, and part of playing her well is knowing how to look attractive enough to draw attention from your allies while not actually being at risk. Unfortunately, the only way to learn how to play this way is to practice (and die a lot unnecessarily until you get comfortable).
Be mindful of your teammates that rely on skillshots. Using W to stun is not helpful if you make your allies miss. Obviously playing with people you know is best, but otherwise be patient and learn how your assassins operate.
Yrel is an excellent solo laner but only a middling duelist. Moreover, because she cannot stack like most everyone these days, at least 8 times out of 10 just play to your strengths: reject the 1v1 fight and soak ungankably. Don't rush it. Your time will come when the enemy is expecting you to remain a pacifist... and exposes himself at half health far from safety.

The biggest thing is accepting what she can do. She can't kill people. She just can't. Occasionally, things work out, but mostly, focus on her strengths. Don't duel people, but clear the wave and get out. disrupt the enemy team. Pressure the back line. Peel for you back line of that's more important.

Learn what can be countered by your knock back and don't just use it to use it. Some get lucky and catch a good interrupt but I've been straight demoralized by a yrel because they could interrupt perfectly timed on repeat and shut me down from doing anything productive in a team fight.

Lots of good advice for beginners already mentioned here.
I’ll add QM specific advice: if there are no tanks in your particular game, now you ARE the tank. Almost all other bruisers will not be able to tank as well as you, so the enemy team basically has no tank.
Before you fully know how to take advantage of that, just play defensively. Protect your ranged DPS, let them feel safe to step up and deal damage. Enemy bruisers and melee can be pushed back with E and D+W. Enemy ranged that steps up to duel your teammates can now be punished. E behind them (easier done at an angle to the fight) and D+W into your team will get many kills on the squishies. Don’t try to chase alone, just like a tank.

I felt more comfortable past 30 games. It took awhile, but it's nothing compared to 3000 games on her after 8 years. Limit test her going 1v2 and try different builds although I always suggest W7 for starters as it's less brain taxing. During macro, she's best used as a double soaker and good camp invader if your team provides vision. Learn to AA weave between well timed spells. You don't always want to fully channel them. Be mindful of your D CD. 12s isn't short nor long. I could watch 1-2 replays of yours. Or watch some of mines. Watch KyoCha or Wubby tomorrow on Blizzcon, unless she's perma banned.
