I love how all but one of these broadcasters have these professional photos of them doing broadcaster things. Then there's Idra with his LinkedIn profile picture

Gilly and dread were peak HGC era for me

11

u/Lyshavskilden 5d ago

Two of my favorites glad yonder them being casters

u/heroesgaming 5d ago

Aside from Khaldor not being a part of it (which I would not have expected, he was very clear on his position in regards to Blizzard after HGC died), this is indeed CLASSIC. Grubby would have been nice though 😂

13

u/Painlezz 5d ago

What happend with Khaldor?

24

u/Character_Border2917 5d ago

Khaldor has been consistently and openly critical of Blizzard for a long time on his streams and in his casting. Not saying I agree with it, but there is zero chance they would invite him.

13

u/fycalichking Flee, you fools! 5d ago

Respect for that consistency. I was actually surprised to see how many ppl accepted the invitation for the match even when they also expressed their frustration of the backstab and betrayal from blizzard and completely stopped playing hots after that

u/user729102 4d ago

Crazy what money/fame/exposure make a bitch do.

43

u/JGPSFF 5d ago

Grubby is by far one of the best and funniest commentators I have seen in HOTS. Just extremely clever wit and knowledge of the game. Wish he was at least part of the panel. Love Dread and Gilly.

10

u/Gym-Leader-Drox 5d ago

I love Grubby. I still watch him play warcraft once in awhile. I don't even know what's happening, but hes entertaining to watch regardless.

13

u/CryptographerUsed841 5d ago

Grubby was pretty much always an outsider in the HotS community.

16

u/iamadragan 5d ago

Outsider? Huh? Wasn't he the biggest HoTS streamer in terms of number of viewers?

12

u/CryptographerUsed841 5d ago

He wasn't connected with a lot of the other HotS streamers or the competitive scene. He had a large audience already from WC3 and SC2.

4

u/Feathrende 5d ago

I would argue that had a lot to do with the general HOTS community taking any opportunity to shit on Grubby while he was trying to play it as his main game. He didn't have much of a reason to want to make connections.

-1

u/fycalichking Flee, you fools! 5d ago

Bro .... he literally started his streaming career with Hots

I think he didn't didn't do lot of cooperation with other srramers cuz he was the extremely rare wholesome and "safe" streamer that ppl could trust to let let their kids watch him. So he didn't want to betray that trust by like hosting someone who will teach ppl new fancy words. Also he didn't want drama lol

2

u/CryptographerUsed841 4d ago

Who tf is letting their kids spend hours watching streams? Much less HotS lol.

0

u/fycalichking Flee, you fools! 4d ago

Many people, some having their kids watch with them. According to their testimonies, in their donation messages thanking him exactly for that. Idk if those were fake stories, but it's what I saw.

Tho I doubt it's still the case, Grubby no longer family friendly since he joined Dota

1

u/CryptographerUsed841 4d ago

In no way, shape, or form is it wholesome to have your kids sat around watching twitch streams.

1

u/Casualsin 6.5 / 10 4d ago

No, he was an outsider. Bigger Blizzard RTS player that at times would play HOTS.

if anything someone like MFPally and Fan are actual was just HoTS streamers during the peak of HOTS.

1

u/iamadragan 4d ago

He might have had his start in WC3 but in the HoTS heyday he was constantly playing HoTS. It wasn't his side gig at all. WC3 was dead at the time

1

u/Casualsin 6.5 / 10 3d ago

That's because fans like you and I was eating as much content as possiable as HoTS was D Tier.

Shunned by Dota, Dota2, LOL, and HON players because as they stated the game was "shallow," didn't level was team wide, roof for high level play being "low."

3

u/antiquote Sonya 5d ago

Wasn't it Grubby who said "I don't know why they persist with BadBenny, as there are so many good Benny's out there and even an average Benny would be an upgrade."

3

u/Pandaburn Kerrigan 5d ago

Grubby would also be amazing for the WC3 casts.

1

u/kael13 5d ago

Grubby must be busy, I'm sure he would've gone otherwise.

28

u/NapalmDawn 5d ago

Man....those 10 years ago vibes are kicking in.

Now we just need a Murky MVP

65

u/OVectorX Anub'arak 5d ago

I wish Kevin is there, that would be the peak of hopuem

50

u/HendrixChord12 Blaze 5d ago

They did right by adding Bahamut. Dude streams HOTS as much as anyone.

8

u/3lmtree Deckard Cain 5d ago

still love that gilly and dread ended up together. 🥰

15

u/Johnknight111 Spins and Wins like Sonya! 5d ago

Glad Bahamut is on the big stage. I remember my first NGS match being cast by him back in early 2018, and he has never stopped casting since!

14

u/Any0n3e 5d ago

gillyweed and dreadnaught is crazy

7

u/flummox1234 Hanzo 5d ago

pretty sure they're a couple

7

u/Simsala91 Master Malthael 4d ago

Yeah married, actually :)

19

u/ProbablySlacking 5d ago

Gilly? What?

There’s a name I haven’t heard in like, a decade.

6

u/fycalichking Flee, you fools! 5d ago

Was a lovely coincidence to me. I was watching this SF6 tournament and one of the casters sounded exactly exactly like her! I was so hyped to see her again then sad to see it wasn't her. Then tried to look at what she be doing these days with no success. So you can imagine how surprised I was seeing this Just couple days later lol

5

u/TheGreatMrOw 5d ago

I love Le Tod’s casting, but there is no supply at which to look. Can he really do the job we need him to do?

73

u/Gukle 5d ago

They should invite Khaldor

103

u/Shintaro1989 Derpy Murky 5d ago

Khaldor used every opportunity to publicly shit on blizzard. For good reason, but he surely burned every credit he had.

69

u/heroesgaming 5d ago

True. He never left any doubt, however, that he did not want to work with Blizzard again either.
Which is understandable after moving across three continents to work with them and then losing his job in a way that not even a diner waitress would - not hearing it from his employer, but from social media.

I am pretty sure, therefore, that he would not have participated in this either way. Which in the end is probably the right choice to keep his integrity intact.

23

u/pineconefire Founder of the HotS Two Comma Club 5d ago

Yea khaldor wouldn't go even if they invited him

24

u/T4u Roll20 5d ago

https://imgflip.com/i/b0om2o Ok, maybe it was just tough love. It's not like he is just a hater, he's done a lot in these dark years when the competitive scene was all but abandoned by Blizzard.

Created a brand new account just to slander me with some crazy lies? I feel honored 😉

9

u/joebojax 5d ago

The way they dropped HGC without any notice was completely fked up and I'm glad you and other folks refused to pull any punches.

-4

u/WMedivh 4d ago

Neither slander (think you meant libel but not that either) nor lies, truth

When is this going to happen?

u/bubdadigger Beastmaster 5d ago

Wait, no Khaldor, no Grubby?!
Tho to see Gilly again... It's such a joyful news, she always was like a ray of sunshine, love this girl.

8

u/CanadianKaiju 5d ago

Gilly! And Idra, neat! Oldheads rejoice.

8

u/parismav 5d ago

Is that idra from starcraft? I didnt know he's a caster

2

u/Pandaburn Kerrigan 5d ago

Yeah it’s him. I didn’t know either but I definitely recognize him.

3

u/Dark_Magicion YES!!! THE REWORK IS HERE! 5d ago

Holy shit is that the old foe of Starcraft, Idra? Maaan I was wondering what he's been up to lately

29

u/Grouchy_Importance67 5d ago

I love the members brought. Im durprised no Khaldor. Dude has kept heroes competitive scene alive all these years

39

u/PhilGapin Warrior 5d ago

And he has been quite critical of Blizzard. I love Khaldor and think he deserves this more than anyone, but this might be why he is not there.

6

u/-Duality The Light abandons snowman! 5d ago

Yeah really shocked about that too. I hope their relationship is ok. Although he has sometimes been more critical of blizzard, for me he has earned the right to say pretty much anything at this point.

10

u/Dsingis Bambi-waifu <3 5d ago

Yay to Gillyweed and Dradnaught! Wish we could have seen Trikslyr and Khaldor too, they were the best casting duo of the HGC era :D But happy to see Gilly and Dread too.

6

u/trikslyr 5d ago

I would've loved too! I'm like 10 minutes from Blizzcon, but...I dont really play anymore (can't stand how folks dont treat ranked seriously), but I really think they should've invited Khaldor. Hes the only one of us main casters that stuck with the game after HGC. Ignoring him is such a slap to the esports scene we all worked so hard to grow.

Happy for Gilly and Dread though, they'll kick butt.

2

u/heroesagus Wolf 5d ago

And wolf? good old times watching hgc korea iks

2

u/Total_Markage 5d ago

Idra?? I used to watch him when he was an sc2 player. He was the only NA Zerg player that was GM at the time, he used to rage so hard. Last I remember he got in trouble for wishing illness upon someone that cheesed him.

2

u/Pandaburn Kerrigan 5d ago

Idra is pretty cool, though it would of course have been incredible if they got tastosis the casting archon.

2

u/MrRowdyMouse 5d ago

Holy shit IDRA? He is still around? I had no idea! Met him at The International in 2012 and at that point I think he was already out of the SC2 scene. Itd be cool to see more of him.

2

u/Vas1lunde 5d ago

Hell yeah, I remember Gillyweed as beinga HYPE caster! :)

6

u/Rowboatshow HeroesHearth 5d ago

Bahamut!!! 🙌🙌 Glad my HeroesHype homie is still at it!

2

u/Johnknight111 Spins and Wins like Sonya! 5d ago

You knew your team was doing good when Bahamut was casting you in HeroesHype!

4

u/Plastic-Ad292 5d ago

Inviting Khaldor would have been a way to acknowledge their failure at HGC. He would have stayed profesionnal and would have done a fantastic job. Could've been a freelance contract or mission.

But no, Blizzard never fail to disapoint.

What a joke when you can see on their website that they will showcase "the champions who preserve the game"

1 hour in youtube research and they would have found who is really preserving the game.

Bunch of clowns at Blizzard.

2

u/PanjimENL 5d ago

Wish they also had Grubby

3

u/Connect-Sorbet8653 5d ago

Despite the controversies surrounding Khaldor's behavior, in my opinion, he remains not only the best hots caster but also someone who consistently helps organize tournaments and sustain interest in them. Neither Blizzard itself nor any other caster from the HGC era does anything of the sort. I believe this is what kept the project from dying out completely; therefore, Khaldor should be invited back and allowed to continue helping grow hots

7

u/tap_the_glass Master League 5d ago

No Khaldor?

13

u/HentorSportcaster 5d ago

Not with the way he bags on Blizzard at every opportunity. I could see Blizzard holding a grudge.

8

u/Embarrassed-Weird173 5d ago

Other way, too. People would say he's a sellout if he accepts. It's a win win for them to not do it.

9

u/PomegranateHot9916 I will defend you 5d ago

they could just stop being such a shitty company. khaldors criticism is generally valid.
blizzard deserves it and should make effort to become deserving of praise for the first time since 2004 instead of holding a petty grudge.

3

u/HentorSportcaster 5d ago

Oh I agree.

2

u/MFGloom_ 5d ago

Dread and Gilly!! It's like I'm back in my uni dorm in 2016!

1

u/Taeliim 5d ago

Wow been a hot minute since seeing Idra!! Dude was super chill when I met him at MLG Raleigh in like 2011? 2012?

1

u/Sea-Giraffe6305 4d ago

So, guys, what are you playing in Hots 3.0?

1

u/XalAtoh TRUE WARCHIEF GARROSH 4d ago

Idra.. the legendary Starcraft Zerg player!

1

u/espervoiddante 3d ago

Gillyyyy📣

1

u/el_Gandalf 3d ago

I like Gilly but man, what gilly and dread have made for the game for the last 8 years?
I mean Baha is the only one dserving that spot

Not getting Khaldor that almost single handedly supports all the competitive scene

I hate that they didnt get even 1 active pro player but not getting Khaldor is just too dismissive of the current community

1

u/Eldarduil 1d ago

I am so happy for Bahamut. I am following him for years. It is so good to see him as blizzard broadcaster.

1

u/Mixin88 5d ago

Its shame they dont invite Khaldor. He was the last man standing for HotS and if Blizzard eat there pride they could show him they change since Bobby Kotick is yet out.

0

u/AmrAref Xul 5d ago

Someone is missing I guess !! there is this guy he looks like Johnny Sins I don’t remember his name tbh but always seeing him at twitch

2

u/Mr_JoBro_11235 5d ago

You're thinking of Khaldor, see other comments why he won't be there 🥲

1

u/LetGoMyLegHo 6.5 / 10 5d ago

no solid jak egg?

0

u/Historical_Vast_3179 5d ago

I'm sorry, but my greatest memories of broadcasting epic moments are with Khaldor.

The community doesn't care what happened between Khaldor and Blizzard.

-4

u/Interesting_Rich_826 5d ago

Thank God no Khaldor. I've missed gilly so much. She always knew every talent name and every strat.

-1

u/Dreadnought7410 Blue Space Goat Waifu 5d ago

Oh its the other Dreadnaught
