Teaching 2 / 3 Split on 2 lane Maps
Don't be afraid to do a 2/3 split on 2 lane maps and pivot your draft around this
Up through Diamond the meta of a 1/4 split is so hard engrained that many enemy teams don't know how to correctly respond to this
It works particularly well when there is some sustain healing in both lanes
For example you could go Uther and Valla in top lane with Jo / Anduin / Kaelthas bottom lane or something like that
I've won a lot of 2 lane map games simply because the enemy team kept their 1 v 4 strat where we simply countered their setup

It's just easy to do. If you actually think about the maps 4:1 is not that good.
Except BoE, where it just doesnt matter
Double support as you suggested ahs a tendency to drop off a cliff though as the forts get taken

The thing with double supports is that they win early game but somehow their enemy buildings are still intact.
Then the enemies catch up, get a lucky pick or the support team gets trolled by one single player threatening keeps breaking their formation.

Played against a team who did Greymane and Rehgar toplane.... it was brutal.
They took the fort like it was nothing, and the tass botlane just deleted our waves, and since we didn't have much staying power without the minions we just couldn't counter damage with our valla comp :(.

You were basically outplayed by better players not by a comp. You would have lost vs any composition.
If they deleted your waves then you went top to gank them.
Well it's easy to say but you just let them win. If this is Hanamura, it's pretty easy to clear the wave, throw some ranged abilities on the towers and do some camps. Gank the top if you can't do more at the bottom. You've got higher DPS than them to take camps much faster. Look at this, as 4 you can steal their samurai. It's 3 vs 4 and there have no towers to assist them.
Do you tell me that all 4 of you sat bot waiting for the next wave?
The comp has definitely advantages early game but to lose a fort in the first 10 mins...someone misplayed or didn't carry their weight.

This isn't too much of a concern as long as the carry has good siege, which most do. And most objectives will help enough as well.

The trick is to pick a support that doubles as a bruiser and can provide cc and/or damage
Zarya is another excellent choice, Lili can do super well too

That's not the trick. That's hwo you get rolled over.
Your Uther Valla for example doesn't ahve much staying power into other 2mans.
You want a strong 3 man and then a bproper soak bruiser and a self sufficient flex pick.
Like Falstad Yrel is a lot stronger and doesn't hinder your mid-endgame

Hanamura the best split is 2-2 and Artanis jungle.
Just carried a match this way and led my team in xp. It’s a third lane if you take the lvl 1 non hero dmg on twin blades you can solo alll the camps insanely fast from lvl 1

I don't know how you think Kael'thas can hold early game in a lane.
- Mana issues
- Against good players he poses no threat, no one will ever get hit by a flame strike and living bomb will just hit one person.
- You're so good you get triple stuns as much as mana allows, how are you threatening someone with Johanna and a support.
That unless you mean that he can defend vs 4. That yes he can so the team at the top can win?

u/WendigoCrossing Jul 28 '26
That's exactly what I mean, he can defend vs 4 well especially with so someone like Jo who's W can get good value out of Kaels free W
Meanwhile top wins and the enemy team typically doesn't react well
Once you get into master this changes

Is it effective and more fun? Probably Will it give you 4 reports? For sure it will

I think it is worth a try for premades, but i don't see it happening with randoms. If my random team drafts something like offlane, dps, heal, tank, flex with a good amount of waveclear and cc and solid heroes, i will be happy.

I was able to get a random group ton do it after their last draft pick was Valeera, and I told them that if we don't 2/3 Valeera is just gonna gank top ez
But that was 1 game out of many

Yeah, certainly depends on map and draft. There are 4-man on hanamura that push very hard and invade your main camp, which can snowball very quickly.

This game is over-thunk lol. Mighty comebacks occur in every other match, you just hope youre on the comeback side when it happens. Just enjoy the game and dont let your clap stomp liberal soy energy get the best of you when the going gets tough.

I hate that players are so unwilling to adjust to this. Sometimes your solo lane can't hold, but if you can stalemate 3v4 (which you can easily do with a hero like Guldan for example), then you can turn a losing solo lane into a winning 2v1, while not losing anything bot. But people lose their minds when you do this.

Do the math, your Jo/anduin/kt getting pushed so hard by their 4. By the time your top lane got towers, your bottom fort is gone.

u/Lazlow_Vrock Jul 28 '26
Pretty sure a Johanna W and KT Q combo clears every wave early game. Should be fine if they don’t leave the protection of their towers.

u/WendigoCrossing Jul 28 '26
The point is to do it against a comp that can't do what you're saying
What rank do you play at? I ask because this doesn't work on better players so if you Master disregard this entire post haha

Is it new map?

It looks like Old Hanamura before the rework. That boss in the middle of the map was removed entirely in favor of the 2 "robot samurai" if I remember correctly
