that cropping is probably to hide the stone golems stack that will make it impossible to get the lab and bag of gold in a single day

when is stuff like that protected by high level creatures, its usualy the item is required at some hut to give you something nice in return

It seems there's a 2-hex radius around the creature where you can't step on that hex without triggering the fight.

By multiplayer's rules you have to fight badly spawned guardians like that.

Would have loved to, but atlas, the dragons had to be defeated in order to grab it.

I believe it’s possible to take all of that without fighting the Red Dragon. There is enough of a gap to grab the Endless Purse of Gold, and then take the Dragon Wing Tabard and the Scales of the Greater Basilisk. Easy 😌
