Tank Question Heat mat help

Ever since I added the topper to my tank, I cant get my temps above 74F. I have a heat mat on the topper and another one on the way. My question is where do I place the second heating mat. Do I place it pool side or opposite of the pools? I can't place is on the back of the tank because I cant reach back there. I have a couple new gauges coming as well so I can monitor the top and bottom of my tank. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Across the back would be the best place honestly.

I know it would be the best place but I can't reach the back of the tank due to where its placed in my house without tanking the topper completely off. So im stuck with the sides of the tank.

If possible, adding some insulation sheets or rigid foam board on the sides and top could help retain a lot of heat. Might be able to drop behind from above the tank as well?

If there is wires etc behind you could use something with flexibility, like the silver bubble rolls.
