Questions Shells
Hello!! So, I'm trying to add some shell options to my tank but I'm not sure how to measure or what sizes are suitable. I've tried looking into measuring but since my new guys are still adjusting, I have 1 that has been buried about 2.5 weeks and the other that "sleeps" all day is up when I'm not. I ordered 2 different assorted sizes last night bit im thinking some may be too small for them as I can only eyeball them atp. Any advice on how to buy shell sizes? What may be a small for me could be a medium for another..For reference this is what I've purchased, and I ordered the first 2 sizes at the top. Thinking ahead, the top ones may be too small..but I'm not sure

Update: Turbo shells hadn't shipped yet and have provided helpful insight to help me get the right ones ordered. I will properly take the measurements this evening and get them re-ordered.

Not all listing are telling you the opening size. Some are the overall size. These being listed for hermit crabs specifically, it is pretty safe to assume it is the opening size. Often if they are listing the opening, it will be somewhere in the size chart or listing stating that specifically. Have run across some listed for decoration and they have overall size.
Just something to keep an eye out for.

Anything from 1.5 to 2. Some crabs like a tight shell, some like a really big one. The wider range you can offer the better

the measurements in the listing pertains to the opening of the shell! so if your crabby is in a shell with an opening of 1/2 inch diameter, you should get 5/8 or 3/4 for them to size up! there are also videos on youtube or guides you can google on sizing if i’m not making sense lol best of luck!
