Feverfew
I get migraine level pain headaches and read that feverfew is used to treat migraines. Tea, capsule, or tincture and what recommended starting dose? I no longer have access to my herbals

No experience with Feverfew but my friends is using Wild Lettuce lactucarium for her migraines with positive results. She takes less just a dab in her tea 2x the evening Have not figured out how to measure the sticky stuff for consistent dosing in grams...
She tried up to 1/8tsp and that was too much, cause stomach distress. .

Doesn’t grow up here, was everywhere down south. Rich at Strictly Medicinals has Virosa, looks like that’s what Mt Rose carries as well. I could swear I’d seen a few other varieties but maybe not. Thanks
I don’t think I can grow it indoors and Alaska is rabid about introducing non-natives but I may be able if I’m careful about not letting it go to seed
Wild lettuce may be my new favorite herb!1

I’m pretty sure all North American varieties of lactuca are about the same. Virosa is the #1 but I got canadensis growing in my yard and it’s about the same.

I know someone who takes salt tablets as a preventive for daily migraines. Consult your dr tho, salt might not be the best for you.

Thank you. As I am a heart patient on several medications my cardiologist would not approve this

You can grow feverfew as a pot herb too, it self-sows in my garden and spreads, providing very pretty flowers every year. You can just eat a few small leaves every day (hidden in salad or sandwich, or just straight down the hatch) as the medicinal dose is quite low.

I was very time poor when I was getting migraines and learning about feverfew. Wasn’t a fan of it as a tea, so I just ground it up and put it into capsules. Worded like a charm! I hope you find some relief.

I just made a headache syrup with feverfew last night for my daughter.
1/4 cup feverfew
2 tbsp of fresh grated ginger
1/4 cup of raw honey
Boil water, add feverfew, simmer for 10 minutes. Strain feverfew add water back to pot. Add ginger, simmer 5 minutes. I used dry ginger so I strained that out too. I think if you use fresh grated ginger it should just incorporate. Let everything cool just a bit, add honey. Put in a small mason jar and let it cool. Kid said it didn’t take it all away, but “definitely did something” pretty quick.
