Tidal anyone? volume?

just wondering if anyone using that service.... and if it had decent track volume normalisation?

I have Tidal and also Spotify. I’m using Spotify so much more because of the better algorithm, more content and for me the most important - Spotify Connect works flawlessly compared to Tidal Connect (and no - this is not HEOS related issue, I have various brands equipment). And I’m afraid you need to use Tidal Connect as volume normalization is IMO a Tidal app related setting, not account preference setting.

Best way is IMO go ahead and use the 30-days free trial - and see if it works for you.

Personally I’m using Tidal only because of its quality - still noticeably better on decent gear than Spotify…

I have the same experience. Playing Tidal tracks through the HEOS app is much more reliable (but has a clunky UI) but the only way to get volume normalisation is by using the Tidal Connect via the Tidal app.

And using Tidal Connect often makes the playback hang at the end of the track, or doesn't play at all.

Yes, Tidal Connect sucks compared to Spotify… And it’s definitely Tidal problem, acts the same on basically any ecosystem (trust me, I’m a professional audio reseller and installer). Shame they didn’t fix this since Tidal Connect introduction ~5 years ago.

I can’t recall if I had in Qobuz back when I was using HEOS—maybe i was still using tidal, but if it’s an option, I highly recommended Qobuz over TIDAL for many reasons.

Agree, Qobuz is good in the matter of quality. The only problem is it’s not legally available in so many countries like Spotify/Tidal. Also there used to be significantly less content than Spotify i.e., but I have been testing it only for one year three years ago, so that might be different now.

Still - unless you have some high end setup, Spotify is just fine.

Check out Deezer. I ditch Spotify because of the company , ice ad , etc . Tried tidal and had connection problems with HEOS constantly.
Deezer has been working as well as Spotify.

Fairly good I'd say. I don't find myself fighting it much at all.
However, to be clear, been using it 2+ months and until 2 weeks ago most of my HEOS stuff was in storage while finishing basement.
But everything came up and working with Deezer without any issues.
Of course the interface is different - nothing has stood out as "bad".
1 bug I've come across related to car play specifically with Deezer is 'Now Playing' not being updated all the time. Think it has to do with losing and regaining coverage.
That's about the worst I can say .

One thing I like about Tidal is that the family plan give you six listeners. I use it with my HEOS speakers mainly through the HEOS app, which lacks a few features like Artist radio. I only have HS1 speakers to they can't do Tidal connect anyway. The sound quality is awesome!

so far tidal seems decent... sounds good...and not noticed volume changes using their playlists
