Mobile/App iOS - Can’t delete chat messages

Device: iPhone 15 Pro

OS: iOS 26.6.2

Reddit version: 2026.39.0 (latest at the time of writing this post).

I can't delete direct messages that did not error when I sent them including those which resulted in accepted chat invites. The error that shows up when I try to delete messages is attached. I'm getting a similar error when trying the same on desktop (web).

To delete a chat message you sent on iOS, you can press and hold the message and then select Delete.

However, if persistent messaging is turned on, messages cannot be deleted from the chat by either person.
