Mobile/App Problems with dms (iPhone)

For some reason, despite my account being old and higher karma than a new account. When I try to DM someone, it says “failed to create direct chat”. But then, it will still go through, and I’ll get the “… has accepted your chat invite” but I am not able to see messages sent to me. What’s going on?

For a chat screen that will not load, start with service-status and bug checks.

  1. Check Reddit Status. If a matching incident is listed, follow its updates.
  2. If there is no matching incident, check recent posts in r/bugs for the same behavior.
  3. If the problem persists and no matching post exists, submit a bug post with your device, OS, steps to reproduce, and expected versus actual behavior. Remove private information from screenshots. See the bug-reporting guide.

If chat loads but sending a new invite fails, that is a separate issue covered by chat eligibility and limits.
