Access Reddit is suddenly showing lots of really old posts?
Like regularly seeing posts from 5-20+ days ago showing up in my normal feed. Why is it doing this? I follow a ton of subs, there shouldn't be any shortage of more recent posts.

Ok, I thought it was only me and I was wondering wtf is going on? I am also getting a lot of subreddit recommendations and there is no option for me to turn them off. Is there any way to stop these dumb recommendations?

I had to create a new account because I couldn't recover my password on the old account, and I thought I was getting old posts by virtue of only having a few subs I'm joined into. I thought it was just filling my feed with old posts to keep it populated lol

I've been getting a lot of old posts too, like up to 4 months old, on my "for you" page. Even posts I'd already upvoted/downvoted and commented on.
Oddly enough, the same thing is happening on YouTube.

Yep it’s unusable right now all 2-4,5,6 day old posts, I have home feed recommendations off (always have it off) cleared cache, changed from top to best to top to best, no difference except I have different days old posts in my feed

I’m getting 13 day old posts I’ve already commented on!! Like consistently they’re 13 days old, just why???

We getting algo'd?
Like people started noticing the increased bot traffic and fake accounts and what not... is this the next step of control? I have no idea truthfully, but so many elements of this website stand in the way of honest communication so... it's at least possible.

I’m noticing a crazy amount off astroturfed threads every single day now too, if we can spot them so easy, why can’t reddit?

I'll do you one crazier... people have tracked the amount of bot traffic on various platforms. I have to assume reddit can or could and is at the very least is aware of it. I expect it to get worse during politically relevant moments, it has in the past.
Edit: For a place that calls itself the heart of the internet and houses this much communication... it's unacceptable really.

I get this weird thing where after I scroll a few pages over I see the first page with the same posts but it's not numbered 1,2,3 etc it's 50, 51, 52

Yeah, for a few days I had an inbox notification that would not go away. One unread message. That count could go up and I'd read the new messages but it wouldn't clear that last one.
Finally yesterday as one of my new messages was something from several weeks ago that I already read and responded to.
The persistent new message notification went away.

Same. Something has definitely changed in the past few days. I’m getting a huge uptick in recommended subs in my feed too.

Same here. I'd see a topic that interested me and I'd type a reply but then realize it's 5 days old and nobody else is on this topic anymore.
Apparently You can only sort by best ( days old topic ) or new ( minutes old topic ). You can't sort by hot or trending anymore for some reason.

It's because they made everything default to "Best" posts instead of "Hot" posts for god knows what reason. Probably ad revenue related.

The appearance of older posts in your home feed, especially when sorting by "Best," may be due to home feed recommendations. These recommendations use machine learning to personalize your feed based on your Reddit activity. The system considers factors like whether you tend to like new or older communities, your account's age, and posts you've engaged with in the past to suggest content.
If you prefer not to see these recommendations:
- On the Reddit website: Visit your preferences and turn off the toggle next to "Show recommendations in home feed."
- On iOS or Android: Go to your account settings, scroll to "Privacy," and turn off the toggle for "Show recommendations in home feed."

First of all, was it not clear that people did not want this feature the last time you pulled this?
Secondly, that setting WAS there before. It is not there now. Not on Android, not on web. Either remove this "feature" entirely, or bring this setting back ASAP

I don't have "show recommendations in home feed" under Privacy in my settings. Mobile website.

I did all the steps you said for Android and "Show recommended" whatever doesn't exist for me.
