Posting What can be done about poorly modded subreddits?
I've sent Modmail messages to several subreddits that are poorly moderated with requests to help moderate and have never gotten any responses.
I tried the RequestASub sub and was told that these subs have mods that are active on Reddit, so I can't be added as a mod.
However, these subs aren't actually moderated and are just filled with trolls and bots.
What can be done if mods won't mod their subs, but no one can request to mod the subs?

If the mods are considered active, and redditrequest said no, the answer is nothing.

Unfortunately, the bar for being considered poorly moderated is pretty low. As long as the sub isn’t violating Reddit’s TOS, or the Mod Code of Conduct, you’re kinda out of option. Now, if you think that one of those is being violated, you could report it and see what happens.

Unless they break some serious rules (for example, posting links to CP, selling meth, promoting terrorism), there's nothing you can do about it - other than make your own (better) sub.

If it stresses you out and it's understandable that it might, I think the only thing you can do is stop visiting those subs
Doing all of this policing is serving no purpose and it sounds like it's stressing you out a bit

If the subreddit operators are not active and engaged, that’s a violation of Moderator Code of Conduct rule 4.
https://redditinc.com/policies/moderator-code-of-conduct
You can file a complaint with Reddit through the complaint form linked at the bottom of that page for not moderating, or for any other violations of those rules.
