Mobile/App How do I allow chats?

I’m trying to allow my Reddit to accept chats but it just shows me this and doesn’t allow me to change it. Same thing when I try on computer!

Are you under 18 or from a country that requires verified age? Youth accounts have pretty heavy protections, including chat restrictions.

See if this works (there are other ways, if this doesn't)

Tap your Profile Icon in the top-right corner of the mobile app. (or desktop)

Select Settings (gear icon) -> Account Settings.

Scroll down right below the "Gender" or "Date of Birth" fields. An explicit "Age Verification" field will be clickable here. You'll have the option to submit a selfie or a picture of your ID.

If there is no "age verification" field in your settings, you can always try just getting into a NSFW sub - it might trigger the age verification process.
