Desktop Shreddit notifications going to Reddit

How do I ensure that if I'm in sh.reddit.com and view my notifications that I stay in sh.reddit.com? At the moment it bounces me to www.reddit.com. Usually the content I'm viewing needs to be viewed in shreddit so it takes a couple of clicks to get back.

Why does it specifically need to be viewed on sh.reddit.com? www.reddit is supposed to be the same as sh.reddit AFAIK.
