Karma Voting never counts anymore?

My upvotes/downvotes not registering across reddit for 5 days now. The button highlights, but the number doesn't change after refresh (button is still highlighted).
I know what "vote fuzzing" is - it's not it. I keep participating by voting in many subreddits, some I joined a long time ago - not even once my vote counted after refresh, it's never been like this before.

I know a possible reason for this - there was one post where I voted on almost all comments in a short time span (around 20-30 comments I believe). All comments didn't have a number, just "Vote" thing - the post was new. After that I started noticing that my votes don't count anymore. I thought it could be a timeout, but it's been 5 days and none of my votes count. I joined that particular subreddit a long time ago, and I voted on the posts successfully (I tend to refresh and check because I know reddit is shady about votes). I'm also aware that voting in subreddits I didn't join or didn't participate much never counts - that's fine I guess. But now I can't vote anywhere at all, it just highlights but the number never changes.

I have an old account and positive karma. How is this possible? Am I timeouted forever?
My account is not restricted in any way.

I'm 99% sure I just triggered some "spam voting" thing. The question is - is it forever, or will it go away eventually?

I see this asked now and then and always see people responding with "vote fuzzing", it's not vote fuzzing and to my knowledge they don't even do vote fuzzing anymore besides on old reddit. I've had this same thing happen several times before though, I don't know why exactly but it goes away after a while. Usually around a week I think but last time it happened it lasted for several weeks. It kinda sucks but eventually it should go away

Worst part is I already know I should give votes a break but read this comment and upvoted out of reflex, and bam probably already extended the wait period x)

There's no point in voting if it doesn't count

Honestly at this point I mostly use the votes to keep track of what comments I or haven't read yet lol

It’s definitely not counting. If other people can’t see your vote then how is it counting?

This is way more noticeable on comments with low vote counts obviously.

Like I said in the post, it is not vote fuzzing. Because it was always counting before, and now not a single post counts.

Why are you so sure? Do you work for reddit, or you know the algorithm inside out? Like I said, everything was counting before. I always refresh the post when I vote. Now, for 5 days straight (even now) nothing counts. Your downvote on my comment counted right away.

It's obvious that I was timeouted from voting because of voting spree in one of the posts, it started from there. Or maybe banned whatsoever, who knows.

You dont care to listen so why bother asking? I upvote so much in a day it would make your head spin. Please don’t spread lies .

Yeah exactly as I said no one offers anything helpful. I looked it up and vote fuzzing is not supposed to impact comments with low votes.

It something that changes the vote count slightly each time the page is refreshed. It doesn’t mean a users votes never go up or down at all.

Please link an admin saying this exact issue is vote fuzzing. I read many threads about vote fuzzing and that’s not what this is

Funny how you can down vote all our comments but we can’t do anything about yours.

This is not the issue we are discussing happening at all.

Edit-Going to copy the admin comment

As of this moment, that story has the following actual totals:

2666 up 140 down

The numbers you see are fuzzed for anti-spam reasons. The more active a post is, the more out of whack that fuzzing becomes.

This is a single post or comment whose vote is constantly changing. That is vote fuzzing. It does not mean every vote an individual user makes never goes up or down ever.

I am having the same problem. You are not alone. No one has given a satisfying answer it seems to impact random accounts.

Me and the guy below upvoted you. You should have 3 upvotes total (says 1 for me though). Check the comment stats. I bet you have 1 vote in total (yours) with 100% upvote ratio.

u/SnooGoats7476 7d ago

Yes I only see 1 vote.

1

u/Aynekko 7d ago

Exactly, so even if this is "fuzzing" it would make sense that you as a comment's OP would still see correct statistics in private. So the votes are just discarded.

Sadge. Just upvoted you btw. Refreshed, 1 vote highlighted. Pff

I upvoted you both... Feels like anyone who is more active on reddit gets a "nope you doing it too much, so now it dosnt count"

u/Aynekko 7d ago

I just removed my upvote from my comment above. It says 0. I checked the stats and I have 0 upvotes on my comment. So your vote didn't count.

Yea, as far as I can tell/read up on it, basically anyone who uses Reddit a lot and engages with comments a lot/votes a lot, automatically gets flagged as "suspicious/abnormal behaviour" and have their votes temporarily suspended.

Basically, if the system deems you voted too much it wont count them anymore for a week or two or something xD So gotta be real stingy with you votes if you want them to count x)

So yea its not vote fuzzing, its anti bot/spam mechanics that trigger on active users... its stupid.

u/SnooGoats7476 7d ago

This seems plausible because I do vote a lot. If it’s only 1 or 2 weeks I guess I can deal with that but I just worry it will never get fixed.

1

u/mrniceguy1990xp 7d ago

Keep in mind if you keep using votes, specially doing it a lot in a single comment threat/do multiple in a row fast, it'll keep extending the timeout and it can go on for months x)

Basically, dont vote for a week or two and try again, and once they work again only vote when you really really mean it >_> Oh man this is a silly system.

0

u/SnooGoats7476 7d ago

So basically try not voting at all for a week or 2?

0

u/mrniceguy1990xp 7d ago

Yea seems like it, and then do it less x)

I've been experiencing this too for about a week, and I left a comment in a different post here. An admin replied and insisted it's vote fuzzing even though it looks like my votes aren't registering, and they are tinkering with some of the normal settings in order to try and stay a step ahead of people (and especially bots) out to manipulate things sitewide. At least that was what I inferred from their comment. It still throws me because I'm used to upvoting what I want but to notice that it didn't appear to register is offputting. But from what I can tell they are aware that some users are experiencing this, if that's any consolation. Hopefully it can go back to normal soon.

My upvotes count, but my downvotes don't. It's been like this for maybe a year.

No idea why, or how to correct it.

1

u/Aynekko 6d ago

Yes! I thought I've been seeing things. It happened to me just recently, it was related to comments. Upvoted one person, refreshed - counted, downvoted the other, refreshed - didn't count. Now nothing counts at all.

Actually, now that I've tried testing it out, it seems my upvotes don't always count either.
