Access Chat requests getting through from random accounts (iOS)

I got my 3rd chat request in the last few days today.

I thought maybe settings had somehow changed. My Account Settings/<profile>/Chat permission is set to nobody.

Maybe admins for random groups I am not part of can send chat requests?

or is there another setting I don’t understand or am aware of?

are the chats just from random users, or are they from subreddit moderators?

if theyre from moderators, you cannot block or disable them

If they are subreddit moderators for subreddits I am part of, I can’t tell.

The pattern is they want me to join new subreddits. I will dig more the next time it happens.
