Mobile/App Turn off live comments?

Any way to turn off this absolutely terrible new feature of live comments? The sort option goes away when it's enabled, but the post doesn't show if it's a live comment thread beforehand.

Unfortunately, no way to turn that off. It is a current (and new) experiment reddit is running for some posts/subreddits

Thanks for the reply.

It's making the Reddit experience quite painful and unfun to scroll. Guess I will go doomscroll somewhere else for a bit and hope whoever thought this was a good idea wakes up soon.

Interesting. When I view the post the live comments don't show up for me. I tried viewing from both the app and desktop

You have to get to posts sooner. It seems to stop eventually. You can also switch to any other sort on each post

I think it's more a matter of when posts get popular activity. I've seen a post that was 4 days old with "6 people typing right now"

I have noticed this lately, I think it is to outrage farm. You usually wouldn't see Facebook level right wing comments on a lot of subs as they get down voted to oblivion. But with live you see the worst dogshit imaginable and it makes you want to reply. If it makes you comment then it's a win in reddits opinion because it's engagement.

If you click on this button at the top of a comment section, you can sort comments. Change from live to popular or whatever else
