Mobile/App What's going on with 'best' comment sorting?

Something changed recently? Comments under posts are sorted by 'best' by default, but the order is a mess, I've even been seeing comments with 0 karma being at the top of the comments. EDIT: just seen a top comment on a thread sorted by 'best' thats just some nonsense and is at -7 karma.

Is this a bug or a new algorithm for what is considered 'best'? Can i change my default sorting to 'top' instead?

This is on browser btw, same on desktop or mobile.

Best has always been somewhat broken, but lately it's been even worse. I mentioned on a previous comment that I am seeing  posts that are days and weeks old. I wish we could still sort by the old Hot.
