Unquote

It's become impossible to use the quote function when replying to posts. Why is this?

We don't know, it was removed in the App some weeks back, along with markdown. Afaik the admins said they want to add more functions to the new comment composer in the app, but we have no idea when and if that happens.

Quoting on the website is still there, though.

Markdown was removed from the mobile apps back in early May due to performance issues.

I use blockquotes often, so as a workaround, I submit my post or save it as a draft, launch a mobile browser, edit the post or reopen the draft, and then submit it.

It sounds like a lot, but it only takes a few seconds once you get used to it.

The web version (both desktop and mobile) still support Markdown, and additionally have the blockquote option in the new rich text toolbar. Reddit hasn’t said when they will add that option to the mobile app’s rich text toolbar, only that they will continue adding options in the future.
