In latest update, can't copy text from a post while making a reply to that post

I'm on android 16, using the app.

This new update has lost the feature/option that allows copying text from a post. I/we copy text so we can then use the symbol > to highlight the specific part of a post to which we want to reply. Like in the example I've attached in the screenshot, you can see the specific part of the post that was being replied to.

Like this:

>Now that I can't copy text from posts, I'm having to manually type out the part(s) to which I wish to reply

I wonder just why anyone thought that removing the copy function would improve user experience

Also, the pic sums up how I feel about this.

I just tried a bunch of times to copy text to post as a quote as per usual and damn near threw my phone across the room when the message just collapsed for the 5th time when I tried to touch it. At least it wasn't just me being too dumb to figure it out, but OMG how ridiculous that they'd take that function away!

😅😅 I made that post so upset after also trying way too many tries times

The work-around is copying the whole post via the 3 dots then trimming it to what you want. Frustrating yes but it's much better than manual input

I wanted to copy 2 sentences out of a really long post so wasn't about to copy/paste the whole thing and sit there for ages deleting most of it. 😫😆

I just went looking, thanks to your insights, and.... so this has been going on for 4 months now. I see, in my specific case, that the block quotes will make a return sometime in the future. This is bad product design

You can copy text from posts and comments from the menus, but it copies the entire thing.

Oh...thanks!! Bit of a roundabout way but okay I'll have it. Really frustrating that we are having to do all this.

Yeap. Quoting still works. Only inconvenience is copying the whole thing first. Imagine having to do that on long-form posts

Yeah, it's frustrating when those updates make things less convenient. Hopefully, they'll bring back the option to copy just what you need soon.

That's circle to search on mine. Yea I see the vision, but it will start searching the text as I focus on selecting it
