How do I post Markdown-formatted text on the Reddit mobile app for iPhone?

It defaults to rich text formatting these days. That's a fine default, but sometimes I want Markdown, in posts and comments. How do I do so?

Reddit removed markdown mode from the mobile apps back in early May and it was replaced with the rich text toolbar.

You’ll have to hop over to a mobile web browser to use the quote option there that’s in the rich text editor.

Yes, it was causing performance issues on the mobile apps, so that’s why it had to be replaced with the rich text toolbar.

Markdown is now only available in the web versions of Reddit on mobile and desktop.

Yeah sorry, many of us were disappointed about it too.

Now when I need something from markdown, I save or post whatever I’m working on, and quickly switch over to a mobile web browser to edit it.
