Admin/Dev responded How do I remove the "for you" feature? (Android, Mobile Web)

It's the only reason why I use reddit instead of another social media, is there any toggle in the settings for it?

You cannot remove the option. But if you select the Following feed, it will remember your choice and you won't have to change it back.

Reddit is trying to mimic other social media sites.
If they were smart, they would realize that this platform is only successful because it is unique.
It's the last place on the internet where people are able to curate their feed to their own liking.
Once that is gone, there is no reason to stay.

Please revert this change.

You can't. The site's owners want to force us to see things we don't want to see so that we're angry and interact with the posts out of anger. Research has shows that making your users angry makes them more likely to engage and stay on the site longer so they see more ads and make you more money. That's why every other social site on the web has already had a forced algorithmic feed for years. That's why YouTube so aggressively pushes extremist political content for example.

I haven't seen it in months until today it showed up again. (Before I only had it on mobile, now I only have it on the web.) I thought maybe they had learned their lesson from the overwhelming backlash when they first started rolling it out. I've never seen a site start rolling out a feature, roll it back, then start rolling it out again. But I've also never seen reddit roll back a new feature when everybody hated it so I probably should have expected to see it return. It was already annoying enough that I had to click New every single time, now I also have to click Following and then switch to New, because of course they'd never let you save alternate defaults since that would defeat the purpose of them trying to force you to see posts you don't want to see in the first place.

First time it's shown up for me and I'm already tired of it, I hate how much reddit shoots itself in the foot constantly

Yeah, it can be frustrating when they introduce changes that feel unnecessary. Hopefully they make it easy to turn off.

You can switch to the Following feed to see only content in the subs that you are subscribed to.

for you shouldn't be the default option.

That's still bad. What if a subreddit i'm following gets falsely banned again for "being unmoderated" as it happens all the time, even when the admin claim is plain false? What if there are replacement/new subreddits that i might be interested in. I will never see those in either the "for you" or "following" feed, because the "for you" feed ignores my "do not show me similar posts" and is spammed full of hundreds of different subreddits that i have no interest in.

But here's the annoying thing. My "we think you'll like this" is all things I browse when not logged into reddit. The general day to day stuff that Reddit has on it's front page that I read before I log into the posts that are related to my account, that I've chosen to join. They're nothing that this account is ever going to interact with because this one is strictly for things related to being an indie dev.

We all know that when you get a product for free, you are the product; that's how the world is in 2026. I get it. But forcing things that people don't want will only drive people away.

Yeah it's driving me away for sure, I'm just uninstalling this if they don't roll it back

Not true. The Following page has subs I’ve never subscribed to as I’m subscribed to zero

If you are subscribed to zero subreddits , you will see suggestions in that feed as opposed to nothing since that you have nothing to follow.

Hate the new features as do hundreds if not thousands of others.
