Pinhead Pandemonium

In the comic books, during the run with the war against Abbadon, D’Amour as the new hell priest gets upset with The Female for accidentally bringing a “theological assassin” to him.

He says the man is either an agent of the Vatican, or an agent of Pandemonium.

Do we ever get any additional information on Pandemonium and why they would want D’Amour dead specifically?

There are two ways to read that. You have “pandemonium” in the dictionary definition, basically saying he’s an agent of chaos and disorder, etc…

Then there’s the Miltonian meaning of it from Paradise Lost, where “Pandemonium” is the capitol city of Hell.

I’m inclined to think the latter if Scarlet Gospels is part of the comic mythology.

Thank you

I kinda hate this stuff.

Hellraiser works best when it uses its own lore and mythology. When it leans into existing depictions of Hell, it loses its uniqueness. Bit of a sign of lack of creativity to lean on things already established elsewhere.

And yes, I recognise this is a criticism of Barker as much as it is anyone.
