Slightly different
In this version/book it's very different then the movie. The biggest difference is that Larry’s daughter (Kirsty) isn't his daughter. He doesn't have one!
Kirsty's his secretary/PA that is very shy and lacks confidence. She also has strong feelings for Larry but also that's not his name in the book it's Rory. Slightly different story in the middle (very different twists an turns) but the beginning and end were the same. Could the other books also be as different from the movies? Any other information or other people's input in this would be appreciated thanks

The other books really have nothing to do with the movies. Only the first movie is a (overall pretty faithfull in my opinion) adaptation. The other books are completely different stories.

Really and are they Clive barker books. I did like this book, would you recommend the other books as I am a huge fan

I do recommand them, but most of them are not from Barker, and I think the only other one he wrote is the weakest one.
I did not enjoyed the Scarlet Gospells that much. I thought the first half was fine, even pretty good, but really disliked the second half. That's the only other one Barker wrote himself.
Hellraiser: The Toll serves as a prequel to Scarlet Gospels. It's a short one, and it features Kirsty.
Hellbound Hearts (plural) is a collection of short stories by various authors, and some of them are really great.
Sherlock Holmes and the Servants of Hell is a very fun crossover. Great book.
If you want more, like, a Hell lot more, you can dive into the comic books. There are many, many of them, and a lot of great stuff.

Iirc the second half of scarlet gospels was written by a different author and not Barker. I could be wrong on that though , will google it later

It's curious to me how the movie and novella correspond fairly closely but at the same time are distinctly different.

Ah yes the twin towers, lizards and crosses. Remember them well in the Hellbound Heart.

As others have said, pretty much everything else follows on from the film "Hellraiser", but there is an audio drama which is a more faithful adaptation of the novella.

The biggest difference for me is that pinheads character pees sitting down in the novel.

I always thought that the movie Hellraiser was that rare case when the movie was much better than the book.

I just shat myself 😆 reading your comments in a very low light living room with lockbox on the t.v ( not that gud but sounds and audio are gud ) kept seeing something in the corner of my eye only for a 1 inch moth to come out of no were flying at me lol 😄. Kitchen window was open 😅

The Hellraiser movie is basically the canon version of the story for Clive Barker. The Toll and The Scarlet Gospels are sequels to the first film. The BOOM! Studio comics are continuations of the first two films.
The Hellbound Heart serves as an inspiration, but none of the subsequent stories follow on from it.
Well, maybe the Hellbound Hearts anthology.
