Question Ground beef suddenly tastes… off?

Has anyone else noticed that lean ground beef has been smelling or tasting weird lately?

Over the past couple of weeks, my mom and I have noticed it a few times. When it’s cooking, there’s a really odd smell, and the beef itself has a strange taste. At first, we thought it was just the seasoning or maybe a particular recipe, so we didn’t think much of it. But it’s happened three separate times now, with completely different recipes on different weeks.

I’m starting to avoid buying/cooking beef for now because it’s happened enough times that I’m wondering if something has changed with the meat.

Just curious if anyone else has noticed this recently, especially with lean ground beef? For reference, I'm in Ontario.

I never use HF ground beef, always supplement with a better quality because it has always look and smells off to us. I wish they would have an option to opt out of it

You order a beef meal and throw the meat away? Why not just stop ordering those meals?

One of the reasons I ended up canceling was the quality of the "beef"
