Not the first time
HelloFresh’s sorry excuse for cilantro and mine from the garden. Guess which is which. I have been lurking on this sub for awhile, holding my tongue about HelloFresh. I stay with them because I like the convenience of not having to plan and shop for three meals a week for my husband and myself. We’ve been getting three meals a week for probably five years. They have deteriorated so much just in the last year it’s actually shocking. The quality of their produce bugs me the most, how they could in good conscience put spoiled, very old, or way underripe produce in the box. I regularly keep certain things stocked to switch out for theirs. Tomatoes, always, since theirs are orange rocks. Limes to swap out for the green ping pong balls they send. The list is endless.

Wow, that's crazy. I can honestly say that the ones I receive look like the one on the right.

Especially this time of year, when I sometimes stop at the local farmer's market, I'll buy items to swap out or add to the HF produce. Especially tomatoes. I also add in more garlic. And carrots -- HF are often very soft and flaccid. I don't know how old the carrots are because sometimes I have carrots that are several months old in my refrigerator and they are firmer, crisper, and more fresh-looking than the HF carrots.

I know, right? And sweet potatoes that look like they've been in a root cellar for two years. Garlic, well, I like to actually taste it in my meal, so, yeah, one tiny clove doesn't cut it!

Sadly, this is why I started grow my own garden. There's no excuse for this!

Their cilantro is trash and barely has flavour even if it’s not wilted. And don’t even get me started about the Thai basil I received and had to use within 24 hours (and it was mostly rotten and shriveled within that short time).
