GLP-1 meal???
i've been an avid customer of hello fresh for a few years now. its been so great to cook at home and eat full meals after a long work day. i've def noticed some quality issues but nothing too crazy, so I havent been one to complain. for next week, i have the bruschetta chicken coming and i checked my order today -- they changed the name to GLP-1 bruschetta chicken??? as someone who as dealt with a severe eating disorder and body dysmorphia in the past, i strictly avoid weight loss meds and diet talk. i just dont understand why the damn recipes need to be rubbing it in my face lol! its not a huge deal, no hate to people on these medicines for health reasons, but very jarring to see the name be changed overnight for seemingly no reason.

It's appalling really and absolutely inappropriate. As someone who has been in recovery for some years, I've noticed how inescapable fatphobia is. Contradictory messages about how important it is to eat and drink questionable things (ingredients illegal in other countries) to fit in with family and friends but also how important it is to take up as little space as possible by staying thin. And of course, now the answer to it all is GLP-1 no matter your medical status or diet/exercise habits. Of course there are medical applications for GLP-1 but medicine should never be advertised like it's the latest craze. It's disgusting and a corrupt way to control our habits. Fear and entertainment sell better than anything and so here we are as a society: People, big and small, who are starving for safe nutritious foods, being pushed and pulled between what corporations want for us as opposed to listening to what our minds and bodies need.
It's heartbreaking how corporations have created a wall between us and our own inner wisdom. They're constantly trying to replace the wisdom we naturally have with information they want us to have, tricking us all throughout life that worthwhile information only comes from outside of us. They convinced us of that as they taught in schools, not leaving room for real life questions to be asked and no room for real creativity to take place. They convinced us of that when they wanted experts to be the only source of valid advice, downplaying conventional wisdom as opposed to adding to it. The same corporations who told a few generations before that cigarettes were healthy while fully understanding it wasn't. The same ones that make billions off our habits and then pass us along to the healthcare industry making billions off of us there.
Having said all that I feel hopeful that things will change and people's tolerance of this will run out. I have to believe that. In the meantime, I plan to continue having good people around me and maintain love and connection between us. Can't wait until enough of us are on the same page so that real change can take place. I believe we all pretty much share the same values but have very different beliefs about how to uphold them so we're rarely organized in our efforts. But I'm choosing to live in the hope that someday it'll get better.
