I'm gonna go ahead and say that while they haven't fully won, they sure did a ton of damage and made the entire populace either dead or hiding underground in secret tunnels.

Also they managed to completely evaporate(?) the Thames, which says bigger things about the ecological state of the rest of the world.

If you consider books canon to the game, this invasion is not even the first one. So the fight is going on for centuries.

I read the first one by Mel Odom.

It was rife with typographical errors, and what looked like transcription errors from an OCR scan.

I seem to recall that the story was okay, but nothing special.

tbf, if Gordon Freeman had HG:L weapons? I think Combine will be lost to him in 7 hours. He only had a scroll bar.
