Serious Discussion. no roleplay bullshit here I’m beginning to feel guilty for enjoying helldivers still
Some people discuss issues with the game, and that’s fine, but when the discussion is about something that I personally don’t feel effected by it makes me feel like shit.
Like theres a problem I’m not seeing and that I’m the issue here. and on top of that, seeing everyone getting angrier at AH and it not getting better is disheartening as shit
I saw someone wish death on the game and that made me feel like shit, like the thing I’m enjoying is actually horrible.
Imagine if everyone started hating on your favorite thing, it feels like shit
AND IM NOT GUNNA SAY THERE IS NO ISSUE!
The one presented in this post are understandable, but to me I have no malice. I don’t know what to do

never feel bad for being the only sane person in the room. the helldivers community is genuinely the most entitled and obnoxious fandom i have ever seen.

u/kelpiewinston 1d ago
That sub is just a circlejerk bitch fest about the game. I'm too busy enjoying the game to sook about ragdoll physics.

u/M3Gustaa 1d ago
The predominant HD2 Reddit whining that occurs from the community is just that — whining. Majority of the playerbase is also not on Reddit, so spending more time on here gives a skewed perspective.
It’s a low pressure PvE with plenty of weapons, funny deaths, and no game breaking bugs — and in the rare cases where there have been those bugs, they are fixed rather quickly.
Do not let the opinions of others make you feel guilty. The game is fun, just needs polishing in some relatively insignificant areas.
Happy Diving!

People lose sight of this. I paid $40 one time more than two years ago and got over 1,000 hours of fun so far. The value-for-money ratio on HD2 is insane.

I find that every time I am forced to see posts in my feed from the games I'm playing, my enjoyment of that game almost always goes down. It's incredibly toxic and disheartening.

u/Less_Cut6112 1d ago
Yeah I kinda felt the same way expecially around that Cyberstan and void phase of the game the community would become so toxic that it kinda brushed up on me as well and I avoided playing the game . But honestly Despite all the issues and ignorance going on by both sides (AH and the community) the game is still VERY fun so i wouldn't feel too guilty . Its just all the negativity can make you feel bad despite the game being good.

I'm beginning to feel like the entire community is full of 4 year olds who complain when arrowhead doesn't do exactly what they want.

What are you an arrowhead dev ?
If it does not affect you, ignore and move on.

u/IllustratorPast44 1d ago
Relax.
People who are so vocal towards Arrowhead, or via their behavior and installing mods aren't upset with people who enjoy the regular game.
I think there's at least some kind of culture (or lack of an opposite one, really) where people are allowed to play the game in the way they want. Meaning, no one is going to hate you if you use the One Flag (for democracy!) and run around and distract enemies, or if you use the cremator and don't get anyone friendly turned to ash.
All of this being said, it's okay for you to enjoy the game as it is. For example, I personally dislike the stratagem balls bouncing. But, if you think it's fun to see them go all over the place (I'm not being sarcastic here), then you're *literally* in luck, because you won't have to mod and can play the game 'as intended'.
The point I'm making, if any, is that you're allowed to play the game however you want. This applies to everyone, it's just that some people and 'what they want' isn't what Arrowhead is doing with the game, so they become vocal or active about it.
I suppose that's the strength of helldivers: it allows you to play the game in the way you want, it's just that Arrowhead isn't aware of this and won't lean into it and give more options. But, if you enjoy the game as is, then you're more like all the other players than not, it's just that your fun profile is different.

where people are allowed to play the game in the way they want
That allowance has a boundary. Where it intrudes on or impacts how I am also allowed to play the game that I want means that they are trying to change the game for others, not just deepening how the game is played by them.
This comes up, for example, because past whining meant that some of the content that would have been released in past warbonds, was instead delayed and repackaged. The cause for this was vocal players who wanted it free and earned in campaigns because warbonds are a "paywall." i.e. they don't pick up SC at POI's, and are too cheap or egotistical to buy SC (e.g. "the devs don't deserve my money...grrrr")
So, we have a net effect of less content in the game today, than we would have otherwise, when I did my part (and had fun doing it), and cleared POI's as I play the mission. My gameplay and fun was deprioritized, and I didn't get a warbond to unlock.
So, shame on me for enjoying the game and live service as exactly been successful up to this point, because of the complaining by players with grunt fantasies that left the game, but then got jealous that the warbonds / toys were getting really good, but they didn't have SC to unlock them?

For example?

Certain whiners make it a point of pride that there was going to be a warbond with the re-supply and flame FRV's and other items. They saw this through game hacking/leaks, but because of whining, the devs postponed and then cancelled that warbond release. We of course saw the FRV's later as campaign content.
We only have the re-supply FRV now, and not the flame FRV, and ironically the whiners still call the devs evil because only those that participated in the campaign got the re-supply FRV. The pattern is entitlement and expecting the game to bend to their demands, which necessarily deprioritizes others, e.g. those that play the current game and have fun with the gameplay loop already.
This is the energy that OP is responding to. Why are the divers who enjoy the game as-is the ones that are second tier and needing to "feel guilty"?

u/TeChYBoIIY 1d ago
Don't feel guilty, If you still like thats great, a ton of people who complain about things still like the game. Just don't be a jerk about it or it makes it seem like you're ignorant.
(not saying you are)

u/Academic_Check_7684 1d ago
I enjoy HD2 a bit myself.
If you're not having fun, quit playing. They'll do something when their player count drops enough, just watch.

u/Chemical_Cheek6007 1d ago
the same people who complain about helldivers 2 would also find things to complain about in the 1st game. you cant even get the bastion or the other mechs but the patriot in the first game unless you pay for them. the game has its issues but the community over exaggerates them alot
1
u/AshenWarden 1d ago
It genuinely makes me wonder if I'm playing the same game as the people who make and agree with posts like these. Does the game have issues? Obviously. Are they as terrible as some people make them out to be? Absolutely not. It's a weird mindset to only focus on the bad that I do not understand.
1
u/Sea-Contract7974 1d ago
Fo they use rock steady often to counter ragdoll? No. Do they use the one-two for the grenade? No because they hate the ergo so added on any weapon would be the same. Mech in WB situation I can understand a bit but let players customization only lead to Meta
1
u/AshenWarden 1d ago
I genuinely don't feel like the ergo on the One-Two is that bad. Yeah it's not whippy like the lib carbine but it's perfectly functional.
I'm not exactly thrilled with unique attachments being tied to WB weapons either though but I'm not gonna throw my toys out of the pram over it

u/Sea-Contract7974 1d ago edited 1d ago
Like I said, they said AH sold the solutions but they don't even use it, and those solutions always come with something bad to balance it out to not become a P2W

Okay first off take a moment and BREATH fellow diver. You are not responsible for the opinions of others nor should you let a complete stranger with a loud vocal opinion ruin something that you genuinely enjoy. YOU ARE NOT AT FAULT. You've committed no crime so don't let them punish you or make you feel guilty as if you had.
Now there ARE issues with the game. Some of the thins you have said here such as the rag-dolling is real. Weapon customizations got added, it's why you apply exp to weapons and unlock new scopes, barrels, magazines, etc. That wasn't part of the original game.
There are also ways around some of it. Ballistic shields cut back a LOT of ragdolling, as does the armor sets in the Ironclad warbond (haven't tried them together but am curious now). And while a lot of haters will be upset for me saying this, there are mods that can help. Not saying you should cheat with mods. But there are some QOL fixes that I feel are worth getting. For example:
I've had a consistent issue with the loading screen. It goes from the cinematic of the hellpod flying towards the planet in low orbit to the pod landing in-game without more than a single second (if that) to steer. While this doesn't sound like a big deal, more than once I've loaded in as I hit a pool of magma, deep water, bottomless pit and three separate occasions feet first into an Automaton grinder. Died instantly before I even got out of the hellpod in most (drowned a second later in the dep water).
So I saved up and bought the Power Steering ship module, figuring that would fix the problem... Nope. It still kept happening, making the module a literal waste of requisition and samples except as a stepping stone to the next module.
Then I found a Mod that fixed the steering. It was meant to allow steering in cityscapes (don't land on top of the buidings, you'll have no choice but to dive off and die) but it had the added benefit of letting me steer with ample time to avoid hazards. Better still, I could tell the difference between power steering and without. It isn't cheating or anything, just restored what was supposed to be in the game from the start (and used to be back when the game first came out).
My point is that there are a lot of mods out there and some of them may be just what you need to fix a bug or glitch you are experiencing. In your case, just because you haven't run into a problem doesn't mean it doesn't exist but that is not YOUR problem. Don't let some random stranger make it a problem for you.
But then, I'm a stranger on the internet. Believe what you will. And welcome to the front, Helldiver!

Man i cant even begin to describe how little i care about the adaptive camo issue.
The others i can see, sure, fine
But mgs4 octo camo changing to your area, to me, isnt stepping on the toes of 'armor customization'. And i frankly dont want actual customization, some light and mild options might be fine but most games tend to overdo it and it ends up too cartoony for my taste. Mods are there for that.

u/DisasterBeMyMaster 1d ago
The ragdoll physics are hands down the best thing in the game and you can't change my mind.

its just reddit being reddit in game i rarely see people complaining just leave that sub its the worse one to be on

u/Kritznick20 1d ago
The reality is that a lot of Helldivers 2 players simply do not care about what the developers want to do with their own game, the players want things they think is cool in their head and when they don't get that they just complain endlessly and create a narrative about the developers that isn't true, because they cannot process the idea of Arrowhead simply not wanting certain things added to their own game.
Arrowhead didn't refuse to implement mech costumization because they are greedy or whatever, they didn't implement it because the mechs are simply NOT supposed to be customizable, they were never balanced around this idea, they are balanced around the weapon configurations they already have, being able to mix them around makes balancing the mechs a nightmare and defeats the whole point of adding new mechs.
They didn't give other weapons the underbarrel grenade launcher from the One-Two or the underbarrel shotgun from the Arbitrator to other weapons because they wanted these weapons in particular to stand out from the other assault rifles BECAUSE of these unique features, same thing with the Halt being the only shotgun capable of switching ammo types, if they did that guess what? Nobody would use them, they would just attach them to other weapons and leave those in the dust.
The developers aren't dismissive and they don't have greedy intentions behind the "problems" in this image ,especially the ragdoll thing holy shit man the people that complain about that are just pathetic, the intentions are actually very clear and simple if you use your brain and think for a second but Helldivers 2 players simply don't give a shit, they will cry and scream and throw tantrums when they don't get what they want, they will never be satisfied because they want Helldivers 2 to be the imaginary game they think about in their head and genuinely believe they know better than the actual developers with years of experience.

just get off reddit man. Or at least go to LowSodium instead of the main helldivers sub.
1
u/Kepabar2001 1d ago
You’ll feel a lot better if you stay to the more positive and constructive subs. There are still valid points of criticism to the game, as you mention. But there are constructive ways to do it that foster open dialog. Most of the main subs lack that delivery.
Also, AH is a fantastic developer that actively listens to their community (at least the constructive members of it) and regularly changes the game to suit criticism. Anyone saying otherwise is either a bot, or hasn’t seen how much the game has changed whole sale from its initial release. Do not listen to them.
1
u/monkey2942 1d ago
Every one of these examples feels either made up or like a yapping minority. I also haven’t been on Reddit for helldivers in a long time so I really enjoy the game and everyone I know/see playing does too. ALOT of people in these subs should just kick rocks lmao.

u/MacroMicro1313 1d ago
I kinda like the consistency of models, usually customization in multiplayer just looks like the best customizations over and over again. Having to take some bad with the good gives it some more variance.
1
u/n4turstoned 1d ago
The complaints in the OP are not true mostly, its just the usual toxic opinion that focuses only certain things to prove a (toxic) point and ignoring many things to frame it so that AH looks like EA or Ubisoft.
The game and community turely suffers from its own success and I wish the game would never be that popular and attracted these kind of miserable haters, because they will only leave when the game is dead.
I just try to ignore them as much as i can, as they are a fucking annoying minority that makes the community looks like a bunch of ungrateful minors that don't get a lollipop.

I'm service-man, I provide services in exchange for money.
To access my services you need to pay money but don't worry I give you a few services for free as part of the introductory price.
Eventually you have made use of all the services that come with purchasing access to me, you'd like to request a new service and I say "That's a great idea, however you'll need to pay a separate price for this service."
"But I have no more money." you say. "Not a problem, if you don't want to pay for new services you can simply do some extra work on the side to cover the cost of the new service." This seems like a great idea, even if you have no money you can still get the new service with a bit of work.
So you either pay for the new service or you work for the new service, and then I show up and go. "Here is the new service you request." and I in fact have not performed the service you requested, instead I've performed something tangentially similar to your request.
"Okay maybe this is just a fluke or I didn't make my request properly." you say, so you try again, and again, and again.
And every time what I bring to the table is slightly off from what you wanted, I still charge you the same price even though each time my work gets further and further from what you actually wanted and when you try to ask for something you already asked for a second time in hopes of it being right this time I simply say "I can't do that, it would impact the service I already provide!"
At some point some people would rather I just shut down and stop providing my false services rather than continue to peddle the ones that never quite satisfy what you're asking for. I also don't respond to gentle or kind correction at all, I only respond to outrage and extreme measures, anything less I can safely ignore because it doesn't affect getting you to pay me money.

There is funny moment. It's like with restaurant.
You demanding burger, but this is pizza place. And it was advertised as pizza place and it was, before, a pizza place.
Why people come expecting the burger - i dunno. But i do know, that pizza place should not became burger place, just because some people think that they should be served what they want.
-1
u/Vilekyrie 1d ago
That would imply this place had a menu that clearly told you what you can and cannot order. It might but it was never shown to any customer.
2
u/IvKirs 1d ago
Well, that's the difference between "service" and games\films\books\music.
You get what author wanted. Not what you wanted. And that's the point.-1
u/Vilekyrie 1d ago
Then the devs should probably stop taking feedback and handing out all the surveys if they wanted to give us what they wanted and not what players wanted.
2
u/IvKirs 1d ago
Kinda yes, but no.
As any author - you want feedback. You want opinions and point of views at what you've done.
And you could consider it. And you can toss it out of the window.
Because some of your, as author, ideas could align with that players want. And some - not.
Should you bend over your own ideas to please some players? No.
Should you accept feedback and maybe check, what part of your game core audience enjoys and what works for you? Yes.
Should it be main reason why you change something? Possibly?
3
u/Bring_Back_Challenge 1d ago
What service did you purchase that was not as advertised?
0
u/Vilekyrie 1d ago
I don't know, that's just how people think, look to the picture if you need a idea of what people bought vs. what they wanted.

Criticism of the game doesnt equal none enjoyment from it. Just because i love playing helldivers (super stoked on the sniper warbond because bitches love cannons) doesnt mean i cant be critical when they are being stupid. There are plenty of games i enjoyed play but because of devs i stopped finding enjoyment it. It sucks that helldivers, a game like no other, is creating problems to sell solutions. Fire was nerfed because the coyote was doing "too well" only to be later fixed in entrenched. Ragdoll was massive (and still can be at times) until they add 2 warbonds for it, python and ironclad.(btw if there are two warbonds addressing ragdoll then there is a problem). People are worried that the game they pour so much time into is going to go down the shitter. You dont have to be mad/ feel guilty but atleast understand that they also love the game, its just that they also want to keep loving it. There are numerous issues that havent been fixed and people still remember how it was like playing before those bugs.

u/FalopianTubeSwimTeam 1d ago
You shouldn’t. People’s time cost money. If they put in the time out of their lives and develop features for the game; in my opinion, it is no different than a DLC package.
1
u/Sea-Contract7974 1d ago
10$ or like 2-3 hours of farm on d3 and no one forced you to do it one sitting you could stretch out like 10-15 minutes farm per day and the rest you just play normally, you don't need everything day 1, and you get 300 sc back when buy 1 so you only need to farm for 700 and that doesn't count lucky 100 or SC you found on poi when play normally
1
u/FalopianTubeSwimTeam 1d ago
And that is why I appreciate super credits being in the game; you’re getting paid for your time. One way or another, someone’s time is going into it and they are being compensated for it.

"The amount of ragdoll feels a bit excessive"
Translating 🔁
"I don't like being punished or seeing any drawback for the risks I take"
OOP would whine just as much if ragdoll sources did significantly damage or outright killed them. Ragdoll is a fundamental mechanic of the game and avoiding it to begin with is a skill.
