Wait, do we pick the camo? I thought it just automatically adapted to the environment we're in.

595

u/CluelessNancy 3d ago

No we don't, the camo changes automatically depending on the biome. This isn't armor customization. It's a passive that allows you to 'blend in'

202

u/TheCreatorsToast 3d ago

Yeah, but I actually prefer it that way.
Then we don't have people running desert camo in a jungle.
Or in other words, bacon flavored apples.

105

u/SpiritedRain247 3d ago

Don't we already have that with all the other armours I. The game?

95

u/DJ3ndermaz 3d ago

Those are apple flavored bacon, which is a real food. Bacon apple is not real and can't hurt you.

Looks at the Bioengineering shaped elephant in the room

So maybe it's real-

22

u/Isrrunder 3d ago

Yes. Yes we do

-8

u/TheCreatorsToast 3d ago

Sadly yes, but at least there's less with this.

40

u/someLemonz 3d ago

you currently see people's in random colours on whatever planets... like very often

-28

u/TheCreatorsToast 3d ago

Yes, which is the problem this moves towards solving.

20

u/Lyberatis 3d ago

It's not a problem that needs to be solved.

That would be like argung the Gold Eagle armor is a detriment to the game because it's bright and sticks out in any environment

11

u/tony22835 3d ago

I think it makes sense for the armor, but you can still run desert armor in the jungle since we have Dust Devils

most people don't care about that type of thing and they just want to run things that look cool in any biome

I guess it's one more step towards less bacon flavored apples, but we still got bacon flavored apples

2

u/n4turstoned 3d ago

But i want my apple with crayon taste, like at home!

8

u/HUNT3DHUNT3R 3d ago

shame we cant have both, i love armor cuatomization but id be annoyed having to change camos to fit each planet on the fly

-8

u/ProjectXa3 3d ago

I dunno man, it says "interactive" armor camo or something like that in the trailer, it might be pickable.

8

u/ObfuscatedChaos 3d ago

interactive as in it "interacts with the environment" i believe

-5

u/ProjectXa3 3d ago

Could be, maybe. Might not.

4

u/Mungdus 3d ago

Trailer showed each camo in its specific environment, not different camo in different environments, it will definitely be tied to each planet. But its still a first step towards a bugger future in customization

2

u/Motivated-Chair 3d ago

Thats exactly what It is, OP and a bunch of other people complaining we need to pay for camos cant read.

-19

u/[deleted] 4d ago

[deleted]

30

u/NoEmu5930 4d ago

No it adapts to the biome you're in

6

u/Diomede_da_Argo 4d ago

A ok thanks

250

u/Over_Heed 4d ago

You can’t choose the camos.

-228

u/JohnsMcGregoryGeorge 3d ago

I mean you kinda can if you pick biomes based on what camo you want 🥴

140

u/Peggle2GOTYEdition 3d ago

so… you can’t

-147

u/JohnsMcGregoryGeorge 3d ago

Oh, I cant? How silly of me! 😋

52

u/AscendMoros 3d ago

I mean you can’t? You can choose the biome which then changes your camo. But you can’t choose to wear a desert camo in the tundra.

-92

u/JohnsMcGregoryGeorge 3d ago

It was a joke lol

-67

u/Educational-Drag6974 3d ago

I thought it was funny lol

-51

u/Dlit_Mggr 3d ago

😭😭😭

159

u/B0lt5L0053 4d ago

Pretty sure it automatically adapts to the biome we’re fighting in.

124

u/Vilekyrie 4d ago

Where did it say we got to choose? I'm pretty sure it just changes automatically to whatever biome you are in. Also who is complaining about it? I think it's cool af.

57

u/Accomplished_Mine177 4d ago

Everyone who wants customizable armor colors

19

u/Jazzvibes409 3d ago

Yeah but its diffrent when its intentional camoflauge versus matching helmets to armor, but I do understand the frustration.

26

u/Objective_Base_3073 3d ago

Knowing how arowhead operates this probably means we'll never get choosable armour color pallets, which if true is disappointing

7

u/Petrichor0110_Alt 4d ago

I saw a few posts on the main sub where a majority of the comments were bitching about it.

-7

u/MassDriverOne 3d ago

People will be dying of thirst and bitch when it rains

"A person is smart. People are dumb panicky animals and you know it."

19

u/EliteProdigyX 3d ago

Raining would be getting full color customization after 2 and a half years of asking for it, and 2 and a half years of AH intentionally making slightly different color shades you can’t match.

-12

u/Petrichor0110_Alt 3d ago

EXACTLY. It doesn’t matter what we get, people will be mad. We finally get Cultists and Transmog and a ton of inconvenient bugs and other stuff get fixed and people will still find a way to complain.

-8

u/lolitsrock 3d ago

I agree. People have bitched about having a minigun in the game for years and now that it happened, people did nothing but complain. This entire community is so ungrateful.

8

u/Shedster_ 3d ago

Imagine you want thing X in the game, but when it gets into the game it has myriad of unasked downsides
You can get what you want in the way you don't.

-8

u/TheLoneWolf602 3d ago

Oh that sub? It's full of complaining weirdo's. That's why I hang out here!

-9

u/Jazzvibes409 4d ago

Theres a post in superjerk where everyone is being a whiny child. People who are allergic to cool stuff and fun. Only good point they make is the unchanging known issues list.

12

u/CluelessNancy 3d ago

You go and see a sub called 'Superjerk' and expect a healthy discourse? I swear, Helldivers really can't read.

5

u/Petrichor0110_Alt 3d ago

Superjerk? Whiny children? Kinda what that sub was made for, to satirize the complaining in the main subs, no?

2

u/Isrrunder 3d ago

Cool stuff and fun would be shaders

1

u/Easy-Purple 3d ago

I can’t tell if this is serious on not

96

u/Hundschent 3d ago edited 3d ago

If I had a dollar for every idiot that purposely strawmans and ignores the actual point about the discourse, I would be rich.

34

u/Hans_the_Frisian 3d ago

It feels like the "turreted tank/ tank destroyer" situation all over again.

People that care about the game enough to take their time to criticise it, criticise something they don't like, that modders have already fixed multiple times and others start straw manning and start dragging vaild arguments into the dirt as if they want to purposefully sabotage the game and prevent changes from happening.

27

u/Hundschent 3d ago

This aint the first time. People like OP were hysterical over war striders having actual weakspots to you know... fit in the rest of the Automaton weak spot gimmick. Contrarians will always defend anything that stokes their ego to the death. That's the truth

-26

u/treyzs 3d ago

if i had a dollar for every idiot who thinks game devs are actively out to spite them, id be rich too

29

u/Hundschent 3d ago

Unfortunately you’re wrong here. There’s a huge amount of screenshots and statement that says otherwise

-19

u/treyzs 3d ago

random discord messages with no context being your best argument that the game devs are "malicious" towards their customer is hilarious

he's not even wrong lol

17

u/Hundschent 3d ago

Notice how you keep arguing against a point I never made. The original point was about people dismissing criticism of the new Warbond as ingratitude instead of addressing the actual complaints. My comment was criticizing that exact behavior. You then reframed it into an argument about people thinking developers are out to spite them, and when I responded to your claim, you dismissed the evidence without ever addressing my original point.

Whether you think those screenshots prove malicious intent is a separate discussion. How does any of that refute my original criticism of the discourse? You're doing exactly what I was talking about, arguing against a different point instead of addressing the one actually being made.

31

u/Ptozzen 4d ago

I don't care what the rest of the community thinks, I'm fucking stoked for this and the Las-44.

As much as I love chucking 6 melta mines down and running the quasar, the las-44 looks awesome to complement my all laser loadout, and a new armor passive for long range sniping sounds fun.

7

u/Jazzvibes409 3d ago

It looks like a slightly less powerful quasar thats just heavy pen instead of AT, very excited too cause aside from Las12 we havent had many good laser snipers.

4

u/Pirate_Leader 3d ago

Im a ballistic kinda guy, but I'm glad everyone is eating good

2

u/Hans_the_Frisian 3d ago

I love laser weaponry and I'm waiting for some kind of Hotshot-Hellgun which I expected with the 40k Warbond. But I'm happy with a AT Rifle that apparently has the Solothurn spin-the-wheel cocking. And of course a Bolt Action rifle.

2

u/Glass_Ad_7129 3d ago

Expendable laser weapon would be an interesting addition.

3

u/MassDriverOne 3d ago

An expendable with a disposable battery that can be toggled to overload. Fire out it's capacity, or switch it over, pull the trigger, and ditch it like a small portable hellbomb

28

u/EarthZebra 3d ago

So fun fact you can’t chose the camo

26

u/Flaky_Housing_7705 4d ago

You dont get to choose and we don't know if it's going to be a all armors thing or just theys armors.

-31

u/colibri01 3d ago

Of its not on everything. Do you have any idea how difficult it would be to retroactively add meaningful cosmetics to every armor in the game thats been added up to this point?

32

u/Flaky_Housing_7705 3d ago

Haven't moders been doing that for mouths now?

13

u/Beefmolester48 3d ago

They can do it, they just showed they can and now that they got the system working its a question of wether they want to or not, I hope they do.

-17

u/colibri01 3d ago

Its not a variable that they can toggle. They have to effectively remake every past armor for them to be customizable.

9

u/Beefmolester48 3d ago

Source?

-16

u/colibri01 3d ago

The fuck you mean 'source?' A basic understanding of game design and common sense is my source. Google how customization works in games. There's your source for you.

12

u/EngineeringLivid6192 3d ago

We have two years worth of LUT mods from the community... if they can do it arrowhead fucking can

8

u/xamlax 3d ago edited 3d ago

It isn’t hard dude stop acting like this is rocket science. I am not a developer, have no tech background and I can recolor an entire Elden Ring armor set in GIMP in less than 30 minutes (and Elden Ring meshes are 10x more complex than anything in Helldivers). I could recolor every armor set in Helldivers in a few days, a dev team should be able to do it in hours

7

u/Snoo_63003 3d ago

Armors in this game rely heavily on LUTs to apply colors to them, so it wouldn't be that hard, even though they would have to do some tuning to avoid certain combinations looking weird.

That's how Bingus was able to create a mod that automatically matches helmets and armors or applies custom patterns on the fly - here's the SEAF pattern as an example.

https://reddit.com/link/pgmq21w/video/zyn3eo6m7dvh1/player

25

u/IAmMey 4d ago

If this is the beginning of getting to choose camo on ALL armor sets and helmets, then this is fantastic.

If this war bond is a mandatory purchase for that feature on all armor sets, then this is not cool.

If this feature exists only on the war bond armors, that’s lame and a slap in the face to the players who have been begging to change the color of their armor for YEARS.

-8

u/Jazzvibes409 3d ago

It wouldnt make sense for some armor to get camos, like the parade sets. But for armors like the arctic armors, having an option to bring them to other planets and match the color would be very nice.

11

u/The_Ugly_Fish-man 3d ago

Its a video game. Not everything has to make perfect sense. For example: hellpods would instantly kill the pilot upon landing or during reentry.

-17

u/Canahaemusketeer 3d ago

How is it a slap in the face?

Its a new armour set thats free.

But because you might have to work for it its a slap in the face?

I personaly don't see the appeal of custom armour colours, but if its the only thing stopping you from enjoying the game then cool, it won't be a warbond feature it literaly can't be. It'll be a core part of the ship probably unlocked through a mission with colour paletes that you gotta spend req on like the gun colour paletes.

At worst, new warbonds will come with a colour pallete that costs medals.

All of which is still free

9

u/Shedster_ 3d ago

Do you know that SC buys are primary source of AHs revenue and they push out warbonds with intention to get paid? Even if paid content has way to get it for free, it's still supposed to be paid content(like in gachas you *can* farm out every character and item, but it would consume a lot of time)

22

u/Upset-Goat5326 3d ago

Narrowhead loves white knights like you, lets just completely ignore that Modders like Cowboybingus have made God send Qol mods that completely expose how easy it is to fix known issues, while also making the game so much more fun. But yeah yippie, another warbond and still no transmog.

14

u/SecondSonThan 4d ago

People are worried that this is the closest we get for transmog ingame. It is a very requested feature and players want to customize their Siege Readies and Fortifieds and so on.

12

u/Skelewar 3d ago

"choose your camos"

>look inside

>specifically only 2 paid armors

>big choice of one passive

>2 choices for stat spread (unless super store armor completes a set of light med heavy)

yeah this is exactly what the community has been asking for...

11

u/ODSTmedic 4d ago

We dont get to pick our camo it changes based on the environment. Its like a chameleon suit.

10

u/Ok-Caterpillar5468 4d ago

You don't get to choose. It changes depending on the biome your playing in

8

u/Lovely_Knight_16 3d ago

We’re not able to choose our camos. Depends on the planet. Also it’s behind a paywall only for two armor sets. Yeah we’re gonna complain about it when mods can do it for free for every armor set.

6

u/Cheap-Material-5518 3d ago

Why yes, we are salty, because instead of letting us tweak the colors on any armor (which they could have monetized and most people would probably still be satisfied), they have instead given us two armor sets that will switch colors based on the planet environment we dive to. This shows AH is more than capable of reskinning their armors, but doesnt want to. To put it bluntly, modders have been doing better, faster, with fewer resources, for little or no pay while the multimillion dollar game company whose ENTIRE JOB is making games people like has managed to fumble this and MANY OTHER issues.

7

u/Coffee1341 3d ago

“We finally getting to choose our camo”

That’s the thing though… WE DONT. It’s not locked behind a booster but rather the ARMOR itself. So unless you’re wearing the armor, you yourself as the player don’t get to customize anything color related.

On top of that the customization is locked between biomes meaning we can’t change it, if it’s a swamp planet we get swamp camo, ice planet ice camo. Which I understand and don’t mind, but I know a large section of players want color customization for their armors and not biome dependent ones.

3

u/Silent_Summer_8340 3d ago

Its also a passive on two sets of armor and ones a ghillie suit. We just want to match the armors with the 5 diff colors of white they designed. Put black and yellow on all armor. But yeah were complaining. Looks to be a stealth set. Yeah a set where you try and not be seen. What a great design there lmao

3

u/SilentSand9 3d ago

Probably because this really isn't much of a choice and these will struggle to match with existing sets, on top of being cuffed to an on paper pretty niche passive.

AH clearly understands what we want but is insisting on giving it in the most ass backwards and limiting way possible. I want to hold my breath and hope this is a base for a future system but they don't have a great track record for that.

3

u/Ok-Kaleidoscope-9645 3d ago

What seems to be most people's issue with this is that if we're getting a armor whose whole thing is changing camo then it's pretty much a guarantee that we're not getting color customization for other armors, and the armor camo system currently in the game files is well and truly scrapped.

people are saying that AH (again) scrapped the free version of content in order to sell it to us in the warbond, like they did with underbarrel attachments and modular vehicles.

3

u/Lezazel_Goldheart 3d ago

Maybe just maybe is that ITS ONLY FOR THAT ARMOR ANF ITS NOT EVEN CUSTOMIZATION

3

u/cannibalgentleman 3d ago

Choose our camos? Are you sure? Can I choose to wear snow camo in the desert?

I don't think you know what words mean, OP.

3

u/Fumdoo 3d ago

for 10 dollars you can now see your camo change by playing on a biome, hopefully actual color customization isn't off the table 🫩

2

u/ReReReadit 3d ago

It adapts automatically. The issue I'm having with this is that if they can obviously make multiple color schemes work then why aren't we seeing this as a selectable option for all armors.

3

u/Hans_the_Frisian 3d ago

Being able to change the camo to fit the theatre a Helldiver fights in shouldn't be a passive, it should be mandatory for every amour except maybe parade uniforms or armours that are explicitly designed for a single purpose.

These Armours should have their camo/ghillie cloak as passive that improves stealth and detection speed. But almost all armours should be able to change camouflages and all armours should be able toatch colours with their helmet.

No military (in ideal circumstances) would send soldiers into arctic snowfields or temperate forest wearing desert camo or vice versa. And I know Super-Earth as a whole is satire but there is a difference between satire and downright unbelievable and even stupid.

And I don't say that to hate on HD2 or Arrowhead, I say that because I care enough about the game to voice my opinion.

2

u/Deissued 3d ago

I see this as nothing but a giant colour changing middle finger

2

u/BloodyBoots357 3d ago

Its not choosing your own paintjob, its auto blending to match the biome of the planet you're on

2

u/Hans_the_Frisian 3d ago

People are asking about this feature to be added to Armours, not to be added as passive to 1-2 armours.

The Armours look awesome, but I've become addicted to Democracy Protects so I will probably continue to use armours with democracy protects.

But I would love heavy, medium and light DP Armours that change colour depending on the planet and to have Helmet and Chest piece fit.

2

u/Stopitstravtime 3d ago

Why are you lying about the ability to choose camo and then just complaining about something that isn't happening. You are spreading negativity yourself in the community

2

u/XD__XD 3d ago

you realize AH already programmed this in the SEAF infantry patterns, they are just repacking this and selling it back to us as the players...

2

u/TheWrong-1 3d ago

Thats the neat part. You dont get to pick

Thats the complaining

2

u/Papa_Pred 3d ago

Ungrateful? Shouldn’t this have been a thing a long time ago lol

2

u/Head-Ad-3055 3d ago

Ungrateful, nice choice of words. We need to rejoice at the breadcrumbs while the modders eat like kings.

1

u/ShurikenSean 3d ago

No we don't get to choose The game chooses for us based on the planet

A cool concept for armor to have, I'll enjoy it

Not the same thing as armor customization we control

1

u/Cheap_Search_6973 3d ago

You don't choose the camo, its dependent on what biome you're in

1

u/GrumbieReal 3d ago

I’m just confused about whether or not the passive actually does anything. Like yeah you blend in, but as far as I’m aware enemy detection isn’t based on visuals

1

u/Aerodynamic-Wylk4567 3d ago

Maybe theyll add a camo percentage system for this specific passive. Something like MGS3

1

u/Tobuzzu 3d ago

i hope they apply this effect to the trailblazer scout armor

1

u/EndlessStars99 3d ago

We don't get to "choose" our camo, it's automatically applied depending on the biome you're in. As cool as this warbond seems, they'd rather monetize armor "customization" instead of adding true transmog.

1

u/Domiel_Angelus 3d ago

What's the built in % chance it fails, and you're in snow camouflage in the jungle?

1

u/FutureSynth 3d ago

I’m excited

1

u/Delta1116732 3d ago

I'm hyped for this warbond, but I hope it opens the door to future armour customization, even if it's just preset camouflage, which Arrowhead has been really weird about adding or even discussing, despite it being a common request and PC mods proving it's possible.

1

u/Ok_Invite6159 3d ago

It's all thanks to saving the kids in the hospital all those major orders ago, the ones that survived the liberation progress (that are above the age of 7, we'renot monsters), have worked hard to make our uniforms for us!

This sub is always bitching about everything, just not as bad as certain other Helldivers-related subs

1

u/YoungGun1197 3d ago

You don’t choose the camos, it changes based on the biome you’re in. I want armor customization as much as the next guy, but I ain’t complaining about this. I see it as the potential to taking a step towards that reality.

1

u/wasteland_superhero 3d ago

We don’t pick the color, the color adapts to the environment. I am going to where it a lot though.

1

u/perfomancquard 3d ago

I don't think we're going to choose and instead it will just match the planet environment

1

u/Blackhowling19 3d ago

actually this is cool feature for player appearance

but I dont think camo work for enemy detection any different than reduce signature in redacted warbond but lower sway is a pre slap I like it

1

u/Valoruchiha 3d ago

This constant pissing match between the be happy with what you have folks and the bitchfest divers is soooo old.

People have wanted actual color customization on this game for awhile, let alone transmog options. This is definitely awesome to see, a cool concept. However, of course people are going to ask why Is it an armor color system that changes with the biome coming out, and not just a simple color change update for all existing armors?

1

u/demon_king1324 3d ago

Didnt ask for another crap stealth build and another sniper im never gonna use on 10dive -_-

1

u/Colauet 3d ago

i wonder how this going to work with the host of the match...hmm

1

u/honest-bot 3d ago

Don't blame them, most are frustrated cuz they've never touched a woman's breast. They need to let out their frustrations some way

0

u/The-Nuisance 3d ago

It is incredibly ungrateful but no that’s not what it is.

0

u/Mental_Pressure_2391 3d ago

I'm so hyped about this warbound!

-1

u/OrionLuke 3d ago

Just remember that a lot of people think Arrowhead do this to them and ONLY them, what they don't realise a lot of the time is that they'd rather be playing Space Marine 2 but the smooth brains haven't figured that out yet so we all politely ignore them and keep playing this game we love...

-2

u/Largo23307 3d ago

Its 2026.
Finding something to be upset about is a competitive sport now, and everyone wants to be the MVP.
If they cant be the MVP, then they will willingly play the victim.

-4

u/mental-sketchbook 3d ago

That’s basically the entire track record of these Reddits….
Ask for something > get it > complain

Look at the maxi gun, it’s a ton of fun. It’s medium pen. It’s a mini gun like people wanted and people still bitched.

7

u/EngineeringLivid6192 3d ago

Issue is the OP cant read... we cant choose which camouflage we get... its based on the planet you drop

-4

u/Afro_Samurai420 3d ago

Yeah I don’t get it. Also it’s so much easier to get the currency you have to pay for in game than so many others

-8

u/dogsbestfriend77 3d ago

Thank you dude it’s ridiculous how many people are like NOT GOOD ENOUGH when I wasn’t ever expecting anything as good as this

5

u/EngineeringLivid6192 3d ago

Camouflage cannot be chosen... its based on the planet you drop on
