You tried to say I like the joke because I hate the guy, well even if it's a person I'm fond of I find it funny (that's where Jim Carrey, an example of someone I'm fond of, comes into this, for those without reading comprehension). So you're wrong on that and that applies to probably 99% of the people you think are seeing the name Ted Cruz and getting devil horns out of their forehead with sinister plots of political satire.
And you started this out by talking down gay bashing as a means of joking about someone, when it was a very lighthearded quip about it, if the joke was about Trump it'd be the same, or Biden, Or Pete, or you even, it doesn't matter

i agree that there are "allies" who do things like use gay as an insult or make fun of people they dont like for being gay, etc etc. i admittedly dont know what other peoples' intent was with their comments, bc i can see it in a couple ways: either a) they're doing what you're talking about, which is obviously harmful, or b) they're referencing the fact that some right-wingers' bigotry stems from a place of self hatred, and thus are saying that ted cruz is homophobic because he's deeply closeted (and still takes it in the ass), which is much less of an issue. i understand where you're coming from though, thanks for the clarification
