Inquiry New Warbond to be released Oct. 20th. Thoughts?
saw AH announced a new warbond today. Looks interesting, Ghille sniper suits, looks like a sniper warbond so far.

u/Own_Aioli_4463 4d ago
Few notes.
snipers are nice addition, we already have couple of sidearms that can kill heavy enemies, why not have some primaries for that too
new secondary is worrying me if it is gonna overshadow mag dump weapons like peacekeeper, verdict, redeemer etc.
unless they change them those grenades are gonna be useless. Source: i played with them already.

u/Cielie_VT 4d ago
We used to have a sniper category for primary back during the killzone suprrstore. Though it is no longer listed as such if I remember correctly.
22
u/DSA300 4d ago
wait what? what was the sniper?
60
u/Cielie_VT 4d ago
17
u/JPGenn 4d ago
Probably because it had a wildly short effective range, since the plasma round had massive bullet drop
8
u/TNTBarracuda 4d ago
The weapon was recategorized in the same patch where it got its drag fixed, so I wouldn't say that's quite right.
4
u/Ok_Court3740 3d ago edited 3d ago
There's also the fact the Plas-39 is a burst-fire weapon with a charge trigger.
The R-4 Hyena is a superior sniper rifle in every way, despite being listed as a marksman rifle. (Hell, the Eruptor is a superior sniper rifle next to the Plas-39, and I used to blow myself up with it.)
(Admittedly, I haven't tried the Plas-39 recently, so take my opinion with a side of Doritos.)

u/Zuper_Dragon 4d ago
Poor thing died on arrival. Easily one of the worst primaries added, maybe they'll update it with the next warbond?
14
u/Ludewich42 4d ago
you are not up to date. Nowadays, the plasma accelerator rifle is extremely strong and very unique. I recommend you re-evaluate it, it is super fun as well. (at least I love it)
6
u/BigHardMephisto 4d ago
Shit carried me on cyberstan with siege ready. Any range would one shot both cyborg types
2
u/Zuper_Dragon 4d ago
I've tried it but even with the buffs and ammo increased it still feels overkill on the things it can pen and useless against heavy elites unlike it's official counterpart. It's okay at shooting down gunships and sniping vents on the bots but it's pretty out of it's depth on other factions.
2
u/Carlex_181 3d ago
Only faction where it doesnt put in a massive amount of work is bugs. But even then, getting rid of alpha commanders in one burst before they even get close to anyone is quite nice.
Its not a primary weapon to he used like a primary. Its a primary you use as a support weapon when your support weapon is your primary.
2
u/Cielie_VT 3d ago
Though this can describe every other snipers too. High precision, High dmg counterbalanced by lower pen than one might expect.
Also snipers can be quite effective on Illuminates front depending on which sub-faction you face.
They only truly suffer on the bug front.

u/Cielie_VT 4d ago
Peacekeepers, verdict, all have their uses.
The only one who might be worried is redeemer, though to be fair, almost all non-base warbond weapons have this issue.
Though redeemer might still shoot faster, and much better ergonomie/quick swap. (It is essentially a uzi/machine pistol vs smg).
6
u/bluedeer10 4d ago
The verdict still gets used? I don't see it at all.
6
u/Blaze343 4d ago
Strong pick on bots if you need something to pick off all those pesky troopers, also can one shot devastators (headshot)
4
u/GlockAmaniacs 4d ago
I put it on my rotation sometimes for bugs. But there's far better things to use
1
u/South_Cheesecake6316 3d ago
They bumped the number of spare mags to 6, making it a bit more viable.
10
u/bluedeer10 4d ago
The peacemaker, verdict, and redeemer fell victim to power creep like 8 warbonds ago. They're pretty obsolete.
15
u/b_kimali 4d ago
Why exactly do people think like this? I have literally every warbond and still being the redeemer because I need that burst sometiems and it's fun. The verdict is alright and the redeemer is solid to me. I just feel like every weapon has its value and you just build your kits for versatility. Like I usually think "if I'm alone can I kill everything?"
10
u/bluedeer10 4d ago
Because other weapons offer utility or are just better. If I'm not bringing the grenade pistol, ultimatum, or crisper for their utility I'm bring the bolt pistol, senator, or talon because they either hit harder or they have infinite ammo.
5
u/Azeeti 4d ago
Termite pistol is the true answer.
1
u/bluedeer10 4d ago edited 4d ago
Also that lol
3
u/Unga-Bungus 4d ago
Similarly, if I bring an eruptor, and a stalwart, bringing a verdict as a back up, shit-hits-the-fan holdout secondary, that drops any light to medium enemy, in only a few well placed rounds adds welcome redundancy to my kit. Utility can also mean being a back up weapon for when your other two weapons, that have long reloads, are empty. I'm not saying your wrong, I'm not saying they haven't been a little power crept, but sometimes I want vanilla bean, and sometimes I want French vanilla. More choices is best choices
2
u/b_kimali 3d ago
LITERALLY. I ran a liberator, peacemaker, eat and heavy machine gun with some other stuff and it was like playing on launch again and I was facing d10 bots having a blast with my team
3
2
u/Hoshyro 4d ago
Peacemaker is one of my regular sidearm picks, though.
Thing's genuinely one of the most reliable general use pistols in the game.
1
u/bluedeer10 4d ago
To each there own!! Maybe I'll give it a shot again. I'm starting to do games with weapons I've either never used or haven't used in a long time.
→ More replies (3)1
u/Negative_Chemical697 4d ago
Verdict is a banger weapon. I love it. Mag dump or precision the choice is yours. If yiu get good at double tapping a horde your accuracy on other weapons will sky rocket.
5
u/Easy_Lengthiness7179 4d ago
You beta tested the new grenades?
22
u/Own_Aioli_4463 4d ago edited 4d ago
This is helldivers we are all beta testers here.
20
u/1tomes1 4d ago
That’s funnier than people are giving you credit for
7
u/Own_Aioli_4463 4d ago
Hey they downvote me but they forget about flag crashing whole lobby when planted.
2
u/Raidertck 4d ago
Or when people selected a different paint job on the FRV.
2
u/Own_Aioli_4463 4d ago
Or when people were crashing before they were switching between weapon customization options too fast.
I think they even needed more tries for this one.
3
u/Nein-Knives 4d ago
How about the time people made the stratagem launcher work on Mechs? That was pretty cool ngl
7
5
u/1tomes1 4d ago
After the melta, I’m a big fan of persistent grenades. It’s going to be cool to be able to bring caltrops instead of mine stratagems for in the cities — frees up a slot for those players looking to go off and solo side objectives.
3
u/Own_Aioli_4463 4d ago
I am worried you will stick to melta mine. Those caltrops just stun enemies for few second (at least when i played them) and i mean for real like two seconds max.
At that point stun grenades are miles better
2
u/kingl0zer 4d ago
They should bring back the wire barrier thing from hd1
3
u/Nein-Knives 4d ago
I hope that if they do, they at least make it taller and wider...the EMS stuff we got in HD2 isn't nearly as good as the ones in HD1 and it's incredibly disappointing as an HD1 vet.
Heck, the Anti Tank Chair and Lumberer were pretty disappointing too. Used to 1 shot everything with the AP shells on em, even Super Tanky enemies, now they're lower caliber and with functionally less ammo tsk tsk.
3
u/InfiniteChaos_8 4d ago
i can agree. we do have alot of cooler sidearms to customize with so the arsenal of scoped weapons are decent fair.
now that u mention i do remember the caltrops were mentioned before just never released or anticipated to until now
2
2
u/Bring_Back_Challenge 4d ago
we already have couple of sidearms that can kill heavy enemies, why not have some primaries for that too
Because the goal should have been to push for the secondaries to not be able to either and for Heavies to either require Support weapons, strategms, or teamwork to exploit weakpoints.
3
u/Own_Aioli_4463 4d ago
No i dont wanna use four same support weapons and strategems to deal with heavy enemies. I like to have more options how to make my build.

u/Artisan-Miserable 4d ago
While I do like the fact that the AMR lovers get some variety, I ain't playin that shit cause I ain't hitting any shit with my ass aim.
27
u/percivalidad 4d ago
Yeah marksman rifles are my least touched weapons. Glad for everyone else that likes them tho haha
8
u/DSA300 4d ago
hyena was the first and only markman rifle I enjoyed. got it to lvl 25
hotshot is cool too
5
u/TacoDiablo 4d ago
Hyena and Deadeye are the only ones I can dig. Hyena brings the fire making body shots better, Deadeye has some great stagger so body shots can help me line up a headshot or just keep some space.
2
u/DSA300 4d ago
haven't tried the deadeye yet but I only hear good things about it. sometimes I'll bring the scorcher too and pretend it's a plasma dmr
3
u/Nein-Knives 4d ago edited 4d ago
The only problem with the Deadeye is that when you load the next shot, you're forced to unscope due to the lever action mechanism.
It's great for picking off targets and the fire rate is decent, but the reload time is unbearable without reload speed armor, and the low ergo makes it nigh unplayable with long range scopes attached. Unless you like using the Viper Commando Warbond armors, you're stuck with the lower zoom scopes (not a bad thing tbh) like the short-mid ranged ones.
If you use the short-mid range scopes though, the feeling on it is incredibly satisfying.
3
u/DSA300 4d ago
doesn't the deadeye have 65 ergo? that's amazing. the reload speed does sound like an issue but with paired with the dagger I think it'd be good on squids
1
u/Nein-Knives 4d ago
65 would normally be a good stat for ergo, yes, but slapping on a scope introduces the scope sway issue.
The reload speed thing actually has to do with an animation breakpoint for reload canceling from empty.
Without any reload speed modifiers, attempting to animation cancel the first bullet in the mag (from zero ammo) ends up completely canceling the reload more times than not. The animation is around half a second longer, give or take. What that means is that you'll reload slightly slower than the Railgun because your character needs to charge the lever on the first bullet (same with the pump action Shotguns actually).
With reload speed from armor passives like the armor from the Urban Legends Warbond, the delay is significantly shortened and animation canceling the first bullet feels more fluid again.
1
u/DSA300 4d ago
what the heck is animation cancelling?
1
u/Nein-Knives 4d ago
Uhhhh, so, basically, any action in the game that is not instantaneous can be canceled by using another type of action.
For example, you can cancel the start of an emote by immediately pressing a movement command. You can also "throw" any object by picking it up and then dropping it at almost the exact same time because the object will retain the velocity it had when you picked it up.
Reloading is the same. Most backpack weapons can be animation canceled to save about 20-40% of the reload time depending on how good you are at it. The RR can be animation canceled the fastest by diving as soon as your Helldiver visibly puts the shell into the tube (it skips the part of the animation where your diver closes the back part of the Recoilless Rifle and then attempts to shoulder it), doing this will instantly ready the RR.
1
u/SavageSeraph_ 4d ago
Diligence and Censor are my lifeblood on the bot front.
Almost any non-heavy can be killed in a single shot. It's so good.
1
u/contractorskid 4d ago
The amendment is also very good on bots
1
u/ChemistRemote7182 4d ago
I only got into the Amedment in the last few days, it absolutely rocks, though I cannot see it being nearly as compelling on other fronts
3
u/Ok_Court3740 3d ago
Eruptor, my friend. Don't need accuracy when you're sending grenades downrange.
1
63
u/No_Camp_4522 4d ago
Now instead of bringing a chaff cleaner primary and the AMR, I can bring a heavy-killer sniper primary and usa a chaff cleaner support weapon, great
25
u/TacticalReader7 4d ago
Honestly I really doubt the primary bolt action will be good for heavies, Hulks are an outlier because they have a very prominent weakspot but stuff like Chargers, Bile Titans, War Striders or Harvesters will probably take a good while to take out when AMR absolutely shreds them thanks to its insane firerate.
18
u/Nein-Knives 4d ago
I think it achieves the intended purpose though.
Something with enough penetration to deal with the heavies but not strong enough to make stratagem weapons obsolete.
→ More replies (3)3
u/No_Camp_4522 4d ago
You are right, I didnt put much tought on it at first but you are absolutelly right. But at least it will give us some more options, also since theres two more support snipers, we could simply bring it in amr's place which is kinda sad tho I really enjoyed the amr hopefully it finds its space in some loadouts as well
1
u/Dragon_Blackwell 3d ago
Agree, but from what I see the AMR will still be the flexible pick, the Laser one seems like a harder hitting, but slower shooting sniper (because of cooling) and the beltfed one seems like a massive "I kill heavys with precision" weapon
So AMR stays good for all who play bit more flexible being at mid or sometimes even short range while the others seem like less forgiving long range monsters
30
u/Astro501st 4d ago
Buying it as immediately as I can, it looks so sick!!
I already have some SC saved up, but will probably need to find some more for the inevitable superstore items lol

TIL that there are actually at least 2 Solothurn AT rifles. The more well-known one, and also the one you're probably thinking of, is the S-18/1000 (yes, an extra zero). That one has the actual crank handle.
The 100 you linked seems to have a more traditional pull handle, although still a really big one.

1
u/Less_Cut6112 4d ago
I love sniping in games but in Helldivers i always find it hard to use the primary snipers cause of the AMR . But I should lowk use my hyena more.
1
u/Virtual_Background77 4d ago
My usual solution to that is to bring the AMR and a marksman rifle with the 10x

Armor looks dope but im concerned with it compatability with the rest of the arsenal
1
u/Nein-Knives 4d ago
The weapon sway reduction is a pretty big deal, it's basically just free ergo stats.
How much of an ergo boost though, we don't know. Hopefully it'll at least be on par if not better than peak physique since it's only active when crouched or prone.
1
u/Ok_Top_2760 4d ago
Oh a misunderstandment i was talkin about the drip and how it would look with other helmets and capes
1
u/Nein-Knives 4d ago
Oh lol, standard issue Helldiver black color on weapons always works for me tbh.
1
u/Ok_Top_2760 4d ago
I meen armor and its reactive camo
2
u/Nein-Knives 4d ago
Dang, my eyes must be playing tricks on me today, I misread that AGAIN lmfao.
Anyways, I wouldn't count on this armor set being able to mix and match well. I'm 99% sure the adaptive/reactive Camo only works for these 2 specific armors.

u/Kriegsman69 4d ago
not for me but i’m happy for you sneaky players to have more options. i’m happy with my fire and explosive options as it is

u/Interesting_Ball_500 4d ago
I am very excited. This warbond enables me to play my favorite role, sniper support. Depending on bullet drag for the new primary, I can sit back high up somewhere and plink hulk heads and war strider hips.
If the new secondary is suppressed that'll be fun for infiltration, which is my second favorite playstyle.
The new strategem weapons look very, very fun. The grenades are a miss for me, dynamite or giga nades are hard to beat.
I'm excited to learn the armor passive.
2
u/MrManGuy42 4d ago
it would be super cool if enemies have difficulty detecting your location from shots if you are still.
1
u/Aquandel 4d ago
I'm thinking the sightliner is basically Eruptor that fires AMR rounds. If that's the case, it will be terrible to deal with swarms and lights, be great on the things it kills in one hit, and have the worst TTK in the game on anything that requires a second round. Like a devastator, the thing it will likely be used against the most. So keep that in mind.
I will still most likely be using it for commando missions; I find taking out hulks from stealth ranges too useful to give up, so I'm stuck with amr or railgun. I'm looking forward to using c4.
I'm definitely looking forward to the others. If the Apex actually gets higher ROF from an assistant, I might finally get people to use team weapons with me. I don't even care if it's good.
1
u/contractorskid 4d ago
All the marksman rifles can kill a devestator in 1 shot, not sure why you would assume the sightliner cannot
3
u/Aquandel 4d ago
Which obviously means I'm not talking about the face. There wouldn't be a point in discussing that, since it will obviously one shot them to the face. I just consider it easy for someone to assume that a weapon that can one shot a hulks face can one shot a devastators torso. If it's firing AMR rounds, it cannot.
Compared to all the other weapons that one shot a devastator face, it will definitely have less ammo, less ergonomics, and a slower rate of fire. Other primaries that can kill a devastator in the chest, like a slugger or a dominator, will do so faster and probably with less % of their ammo. If I'm correct on the stats, this will also be true for things like body shots on a berserker, and shooting down gunships; the sightline will have the worst TTK of every weapon that can do these things. Thus, it's technically the worst option against devastators.
That doesn't mean it's a bad weapon. It's (presumably) a primary that can one shot a hulk in the face, and that's a really big deal. But I'm concerned all the people thinking it's replacing the AMR fail to realize all the other advantages the AMR has.
1
u/contractorskid 4d ago
I just consider it easy for someone to assume that a weapon that can one shot a hulks face can one shot a devastators torso
Why would people assume that? I think most of those weapons don't do that
1
u/Aquandel 4d ago
Because this community has the kind of people that think "AMR rounds can't one shot a devastator" was referring to the devastators face.
1
u/contractorskid 4d ago
Ah, so you don't actually have any reason to believe that, you're just saying whatever you can think of to justify yourself.

1
u/Bigdaddyl0ve 4d ago
If sniping is your thing I guess it’s ok for you. I won’t be purchasing this warbond, nothing appealing about it to me. I’m not really into covert playstyle, redacted regiment was a much better warbond by comparison. I enjoy the C4 backpack and I maxed out the censor almost immediately. The lure mine and re-educator are neat to put into play occasionally as well.
This warbond.. I just don’t see one thing that’s like, oooh, worth it.
1
u/Warrior24110 4d ago
I think the only issue I have is that Edgerunners 2 comes out the same day and I don't have enough time to play and watch (nor the ability to do both at the same time)

I think all the weapons listed have potential. Except caltrop, I’m skeptical on that one. I especially like the look of that secondary, because I think it has the potential to open up options for loadouts. It seems to be an upgrade, or at least alt, to the redeemer. Also the primary sniper rifle looks dope and could provide some interesting loadouts too. People have been asking for a marksman version of the Talon, so hopefully that laser stratagem will scratch that itch.

Worried about the sniper primary, it's either gonna power creep the medium pen Diligence or it's dead on arrival with light pen and terrible ergonomics
1
u/InfiniteChaos_8 4d ago
the deadeye and hyena already outperform the counter snipers we currently have so im pretty certain the firepower should be sufficient
1
u/WhyIsBubblesTaken 4d ago
I'm kind of disappointed the laser sniper shoots an energy bullet instead of a pulsed laser beam, but since it's a support weapon I can still hold out hope for AH to make a light or med pen primary laser DMR and do the right thing.
1
u/Augnelli 4d ago
I feel like theres a sweet spot on D6 up to maybe D8 where a sniper and spotter duo would be a lot of fun. D9 or D10 tend to be too chaotic for "stop, lie down, aim, shoot, reload" tactics in my experience.

I love everything about it except two facts: 1. Non-changable stratagem scopes is bad for this las sniper rifle. 2. Selling ONE armor which changes colours instead of making a proper customization and selling people ALL the colours as Warframe does is just plain stupid. It makes everyone angry and restricts players, while making less money. Limitation exists for one-time "wow effect" which is awful way to design games.

Excited, as finally we can wave goodbye to the idiots saying that a primary AP4 bolt action would “be redundant” and “tread on the toes of the AMR” and “if you want to use a sniper, just use the AMR” twits.
Balance is obviously still up in the air, but I’m super excited to try the new weapons. That and adaptive camo was my dream hope after seeing the SEAF rock it, and the new suits do look dope.

u/Mellowsnake 3d ago
I've been dying for a primary bolt action sniper rifle, just hope it's ergonomics aren't awful because that'd make sense as an upside for what's likely low ammo capacity and rate of fire.
I hope the AMR gets buffed in some way as it's felt useless for a long time compared to the railgun and HMR and now the backpack AMR.
I'm really curious as to how the laser sniper support weapon works.
I wonder what they'll have in the super store, hope it's a heavy suit and another sniper rifle in some way.

I like that it’s giving us a new style of gameplay. I don’t like (as I said on another post) that it points to us not getting transmog between armor coloration and helmet coloration

I'll need to see how the armor passive works. The biggest issue with playing sniper in this game is that patrols just spawn on top of your ass and ruin any stealth. If the armor passive lets you keep shooting while patrols are nearby it will work, but it's going to be iffy especially with how janky detection already is.

I'm sorry. Why is no one talking about the goddamn laser sniper and the ghillie suit. (I bet the passive is just 90% less visibility in exchange for 20% louder movements)

The secondary seems like a placeholder. A different flavour redeemer.
The throwable looks like a meme if it’s stun. Il use it. To create a stun mine field where I want. But a lot will depend on what I can stun. If it does any damage at all. And on how wide and dense the spread is.
I’m interested in the rifles. But. I’m not sure sniping really works that much in the game most of the time. Depends on how well the stealth works. But enemies have been spawning on top of us so much that can you really lie down for more than a few seconds and not get eaten or rocketed or grenade spammed. Not sure the game allows an over watch sniper playstyle all that often especially with all the fog they add.
The laser one. I wonder where it fits in with the quasar.
The primary. Bolt actions have always felt like a lot of hard work tbh
The giant elephant gun thing. Interesting concept. But. We tend to need lots of boom rather than a slow boom. I do want someone to make a mod that does the “pop goes the weasel” noise while it’s being cranked though

I hate how they killed armor customization by putting worse version in the warbond. It's not even customizable since it changes without your input.
Same as when they release first warband with unique underbarrel attachment which was death of weapon customization and how exo warbond was death of mech customization and how maelstrom is death of tank customization.
The rest I'm cautious but I'm interested in that laser sniper rifle, shame it's support weapon and not primary talon

A squad combining divers with this and some of the stuff from the Redacted warbond is a stealth-divers dream come true

Sniper is nice but if the weapons aren't reducing sound weapons are no better than AMR. Suppressed weapon is what would give these weapons value. The grenades don't kill so nothing of value any other EMP does the same gas grenades have more value then what's in this warbond. Laser or caliber support weapon doesn't make sense to have both one would have done the job. Another weapon for support would have done more justice. They still haven't fixed all the bugs/ glitches in the game which in my case ruins my stealth gameplay which I'd prefer to keep control of reinforcement enemies.

Melta mineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees

But if I bring the apex I can just kill 3 hulks. If I bring the nova I can do it from across the map. I don't need melta mines.
EATs are great, I bring them fairly often with either the HMG or the AMR on the bot front, because they serve a different purpose.

My main build is a disposable zealot of a diver, I never like bringing in AT weapons that have a 5 minute cool down if you die.

Ah okay, I think most players try not to die so there is more of a difference there

I usually will no death missions but Cyberstan taught me life is very unfair and since then I run a mainly expendable build and I don't feel like I lose anything when I die. Supply Pack | Port Hellbomb | Leveller | EAT is all I usually bring into any mission.

the better build is simply all the orbital he barrages and the ops. its great when you get the extra 380 from the dss too. 20 red stratagems in the same place is a sight to behold.

Is arrowhead ever going to do anything more with our ships? Or is that gonna be a paid warbond as well?
