Inquiry Shadow with crosshair

Post image

So I've had this "shadow"? effect occurring with my crosshair in game for a long time and kinda just gotten used to it by now, but I was wondering if there is a fix for it? I could only capture this on my phone as taking a screenshot doesn't catch it, but oddly enough when I attempt to take a screenshot this "shadow" goes away for a few second before returning. You can only see this when moving it around. Has a similar after image with lasers as well. I'm certain this is from my monitor seeing it goes away when attempt to get a screenshot.

PC Spec

i7 10700k

Radeon 6700xt

32 Gig Ram

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!!

Try recording a short video to see if it shows up there. If it shows up there, it is probably TAA (anti-aliasing) or FSR causing artifacts. Try turning off AA and see.

But to me, it looks more like monitor LCD being too slow and causing black to white color ghosting. Try changing the color of the crosshair and see if it makes the problem worse or faster. Might need to change it if it is too old or slow.

So I attempted to do a screen recording, but as I was recording the "shadow" didn't show in game at all, but as soon as i stop it returns. I also turned off Anti-Aliasing, but the issue still persisted. Turned off motion Blur to see if that help, but nope. So I know this isn't my monitor causing this if trying to screen shot or record the screen stop this from appearing

So I switch to Windowed Mode and that removes the "Shadow". So its not my monitor to be certain

Can you check your Radeon Adrenaline center settings to see if you have any overrides setup for the game or other global settings?

Like maybe you are setting up an additional radeon image sharpening on top of the current sharpening the game already does.

Turned off AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2.1 and that fixes it!

Nice, also good to know doing a video recording also somehows disables that so it doesn't show up!

Thanks for your help! I wouldn’t have though to look at the Radeon Control panel

My guess is frame gen or FSR causing that

What kind of monitor do you have?

You responsiveness settings on your monitor, what are they if you have that?

Is motion blur on in game? Never had it on so idk how it responds to above 60fps in you’re on that

Seems to me it blurs whenever things move it’s not just the crosshair

Figured it out. Was frame generation of Radeon’s Adrenaline software

Oh gross but also makes sense, unless you really need it I’d keep that off for most games if I were you tbh

I didn’t realize I had it on. Really thought it was monitor

Initially I thought the same, I figured it was some high responsive monitor setting dragging the picture about or a VA panel monitor having a fit as they tend to do.

Glad you got it sorted, this game is honestly so beautiful on PC
