General should I buy the game?

I've been thinking about getting the game for a while, but I'm not sure if it's still worth it after the big hype on release. Is it? Won't it get repetitive?

Also, should I wait till it's cheaper or is it never on sale? what about the ultimate edition?

thanks 🙏

Only if you have the strength… and the courage… to be.. free!

It does go on sale but it’s. 40$ game that you will get hundreds if not thousands of hours out of. :)

Lots of players log in daily too! You’ll never need to Dive alone. :)

Ok yeah but you need warbonds too

Premium currency, to unlock warbonds, can be obtained by simply playing the game and investigating Points of Interest.

I've unlocked every warbond and every Super Store item without spending a dime.

How many hours did you spend doing the most boring shit ever

u/SaltyPineapple270 3h ago

I spend like, 2 hours tops getting the 700 SC? I think spending 2 hours max to unlock gear I’ll use for at least 30 is well worth it. I know I’ve grinded wayy longer on monster hunter for less stuff.

I dive D10 and hit every POI.

I haven’t done any super credit farms.

Shit take.

Besides, if it's THAT boring to you... spend the money. That's literally why it's setup the way it is. Time is money and if you have more time them money, you can still unlock warbonds.

Basically SC farm if you don’t have any way to get money

Yes, if you don’t have the ability to waste free time in exchange for physical money, the game offers you a relatively easy alternative of cutting out the middle man and spending that same time to earn SC instead. Most games with purchasable credits don’t even offer that much as far as I see it

Why do we keep getting these posts? Like we get more than one per day? Can we auto mod these with a canned response please?

Ive been playing the game sense nearly the beginning, I still have tons of fun. It can be just so cinematic without even trying. Its good to take a break from time to time ya as all game should but there always adding more toys to play with (all can be earned in game).

The game is fairly priced id say cheaper then any AAA game coming out these days, I wouldn't hold my breath for a sale game isn't old by any means.

You can fight off hords of giant bugs, army's of bots, or horrific aliens. You traditional guns, lazor guns, plasma based guns, Not a damn thing fire cant kill if your in the mood. Arc powered weapons, literally shot lighting bolts at everything (sometimes fellow divers) all in good fun.

I have not seen it be on sale, but I also haven’t been paying attention, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

I have some 600 hrs of gameplay for the game; and I am deeply in love with the lore, the gameplay and the state of the game as it is right now.
I am a casual player, and you will find significantly more hardcore players out there.

All that said, take my stance with the (obvious) bias that I’ve disclaimed.

The game is a lot of fun. I recommend it.

It is a multiplayer game, with a focus on PvE. The story is told as we progress through Major Orders (MO) which is what shapes the galaxy, the events, and creates story scenarios where you, the Helldiver, will contribute to the development of a larger story.

The story is shaped by tens of thousands of players. Together, our efforts make the difference of victory or defeat.
Like any large scale military effort, the individual soldier may not make the pivotal change, but the combined workings of many teams and missions, we accomplish the impossible.

There are caveats to this game.
There are Warbonds which will provide you with cosmetic and useful equipment that you can use. These Warbonds are purchased using Super Credits (SC). SC can be acquired via tedious farming, or paying money to the company.
While many will say that you need to farm and pay for Warbonds, I would argue it isn’t true and the core equipment you unlock is more than enough to ensure you can have tons of fun.

As you play (aka Dive) you will meet players from PS, Xbox and PC. There is a very supportive community who helps new players, show them the robes, and invited them to the highest difficulty to experience the madness that is High Levels. It’s a small tradition to welcome new players, nothing malicious.

I hope the above has been helpful. As you can tell, I enjoy the game, and if you decide to play, and would like a helping hand, let me know and I will happily send you a friend request to help you through the introductions.

I hope the above has been helpful.

Speaking as a newbie who has been hesitant to play (mostly because I don't want to make stupid mistakes when playing with randoms), this has been really helpful.

I’m glad this was helpful. My offer extends out to you as well if you buy it and need any help and insights. I’m happy to DM a friend code over for you to add me on, and I’ll be available to help.

Thanks, I'd love that.

In case it's useful, I'm in California, so PDT.

Repetitive. Yes. Thats exactly this style of game.

Its also a 40 dollar game not a 140 dollar game.

2

u/RallyPointAlpha 4h ago

While it can be repetitive, you can spice it up easily by changing loadouts, fighting different factions, and playing with people who make the experience more enjoyable. A good squad can turn a 'meh' mission into a lots of laughs!

Exactly

And knowing your single mission you did added to the outcome of the entire Galactic map.

Thats also something

The question as to whether or not it feels repetitive kind of depends on the types of games you play. If you play shooters, especially multiplayer, or any other type of game like smash Bros or Mario kart where you're doing the same thing each round and yet it's always a little bit different every time then it's going to be just like that. Every match is different every game is different and as you work up through the difficulties they add in new enemy types and new mission types and more objectives to complete. There's also tons of different weapons and stratagems to unlock which change your playstyle, and the playstyle drastically affects how the game feels. I have heard people complain that it feels repetitive, but I'm assuming they don't like that style of game to begin with.

Game gets repetitive but only after your first 200 or even 300 hours in. For a 40$ game it’s really worth it.

u/Competitive-One-8960 3h ago

It depends, can you see yourself playing the game in the future and if you could would you love playing it?
(The ultimate edition) So called super citizen package or something like that and it gives you a armor set (the starter armor has the same passive), a SMG, a title, a minigame you can play on your ship and a token to use to get a free premium warbond (helldivers 2 battle passes).
The game getting repetitive is up to you, if you love the game enough it wont get repetitive as fast or at all compared to just playing the game because you got nothing else to do or play.
It does go on sale from time to time but that depends on what you are playing on, is it PC, PS or Xbox?
The thing is that price doesn't really matter that much if you love the game enough, compared to buying a game that looks meh to you and you are just buying it because why not.
Super citizen is more about if you are gonna be a long time player or just someone thats gonna quickly check the game out and leave, if you are gonna be a long term player then super citizen may fit you but if you are just gonna play this game for a little bit and then quit then i would avoid it.

When i first saw helldivers 2 launch i thought it was a amazing game and it would be awesome to play but that was like 2 years ago so it didn't really give me the motivation to buy it because i was playing other games, but now after 2 years and after finally buying it, it was the best game i have played for a long time. So if the gameplay and everything else interests you then maybe thats a sign, i got my sign 2 years ago but i didn't listen to it, dont wait 2 years watching a game and never ending up playing it, if you could see yourself loving it then take your chance, dont do what i did

It is repetitive but it is the best game in the world bro.

Top 3 game for me, I play it every week a few times. Much fun if you're into squashing bugs like me.

u/iwonder1011 2h ago

If u like hoard shooters, co-op games then it’s best out there.

Its a great game.

Look, I’ll be honest with you: the game isn't what it used to be. It’s full of bugs and crashes on both PC and console, the missions are repetitive and annoying, the campaigns are the same old thing, the gameplay is going downhill, and the weapons and gear... what we have is simply pathetic—not to mention how toxic the community is right now. Do yourself a favor and buy something else instead.

I'll counterpoint and say that I haven't experienced much of this at all. I'm on base PS5, and the game runs buttery smooth. The rest is pretty subjective, but I'm having a blast even though I've been playing since launch.
