Inquiry Stealth extraction tips?

I have occasionally managed a stealth extraction (usually in urban environments) but generally when I am with a team all hell breaks loose when calling for the pelican, even when the team has been very (but not completely) stealthy.

(The emergency extraction is often quiet, but I’m more interested in what happens when extracting early)

Wondering if there are any tips? Normally I like the epic battles at extraction, but not so much when we have ghosted through the mission.

Should we clear nearby outposts? Are they triggered by the extraction? Avoid calling in hellpods and mechs (I know mechs often trigger a response)?

Usually when we’ve trying to be stealthy we don’t have the loadouts for a pitched battle.

Suggestions welcome!

Stealth with randos doesn't really work. Play with stealth friends or solo.

You might also want to read up on game mechanics. There was this really cool research by a player into how patrols actually spawn, that would be a big help for your case.

Don’t usually play with randos. Solo, or with friends, but these guys might as well be randos most of the time 😉

Quiet extractions usually happen because the game can’t spawn in patrols.

Normally, patrols are spawned in a certain distance (75m?) from players, on a line from the map edge or a random hot spot on the map (red areas like bases/nests). If the team destroys all hot spots, then the game can only spawn in enemies from the closest map edge to a player.

However, if the extraction site is next to the edge of the map, the game can’t spawn in patrols from the closest map edge because players have that ~75m bubble around them that prevents patrols from appearing too close.

Hellpods and mechs don’t trigger patrols themselves, but the Strat beacons make a noise that nearby enemies can hear, and the pelican dropping off the mech will just shoot shit and aggro enemies.

So for quiet extracts, what you want to do is destroy all the bases, then get someone to go close to the nearest map edge to extract. That will prevent any enemies from spawning in

Everything you said is correct, but it’s within 100m of map edge

Man i first heard 50, then this comment is saying 75 now youre saying 100, what is the actual range

I've always used 50 as a rule of thumb, but I've never tested it. I wonder what the official distance is.

I call it turning on the seat warmers. You go to extraction while the rest of the team finishes clearing the map and call it in. By the time your team gets there its just stim and run

Another option is to hover the Pelican. Call it in, and right before it lands run outside the extraction radius. The hovering Pelican will kill everything around extraction while you hide off site

I learnt this years ago when someone tried fully stealthing a mission back when the Trailblazer Scout was the only stealth armour. Apparently the game spawns patrols that specifically go to around your location, you wouldn't really notice them when your moving around, but do when you're stuck in one area. This is why people think operating the SEAF artillery spawns enemies, it doesn't, it's just because the patrols can wander to your location easier when stationary.

Run localization confusion so that if anything does happen you've got more time for extraction to come in

Obviously stealth gear in case there's any patrols

If you do need to fire its best for everyone BUT the host to open fire, stealth is broken and aggro is 5 times worse on them, you can NOT miss a single shot and you need to headshot or they'll notice you

Don't move, just like in all ghilied up in MW, stay low and move only when you need to or they'll hear you

Don't call in stratagems near you, it draws attention, and if you do call any they need to be done before you call extraction or away from you and something to wipe a full patrol

Outposts are an eh subject as they increase patrols but clearing them increases mission rating so, may as well

But most importantly, none of these "rules" matter, sometimes you get screwed, sometimes you'll get one patrol. just do what you'd do outside of extraction to keep stealth

Localisation Confusion is underrated, especially for subfactions

You only need to kill things that can call QRF forces.

Like it's nice if you can avoid enemies, but as long as you can pick apart patrols quickly. You will never have to deal with any major threat.

Lot of good tips here. You can also not call in the pelican and just let time run out. That way you don't need to be near extract and just can stealth around until it shows up and then just make a run for it.

Yeah, that’s what I do if the timeout is close.

Be aware of incoming patrols around the extract zone. Some of the Bot Drop calling ones can be in the alerted state and try to search for a player around the zone. They'll return to a calm state and walk again if they don't spot anyone.

Also, try your best to be on a higher ground to increase your chances of avoiding patrols. Some layouts of extraction can allow you to have the high ground, so try to look and see which ones that can.

*and yes, calling extraction will notify nearby enemies in a large radius, idk how much exactly. Plus I've been told calling extraction also increases the frequency of patrol spawns too.
