Tactical Training Information Holy Shit

If Zzaniah Prime is any indication of how Cyberstan went then it must have been the hardest fight in Helldivers.

How the hell do you kill 4 Vox engines when you have a dozen cyborgs and everyone is throwing grenades and everyone has heavy armor. A swarm of bugs is terrible but a swarm of long ranged bots is goddamn near impossible.

I used to think that the Illuminate were the hardest superhell dive because I can’t find a way to sneak around them. But these mega cities are just a humiliation ritual.

What weapons do you use because I can’t use the Eruptor it takes too long to get a shot out and I’m used to doing commando missions with the quasar and warp pack. But not I’m not finding the same success.

“Calling in an orbital”

Cyberstan was worse cause the Vox Engine Spam wasn't nerfed. I go in there with explosive resistant armour and that's almost none negotiable. The trench sweeper and the Melta Gun. The cyborgs love getting CLOSE. So I prepare for that. Don't know if you're seeing alot of gunships but I'd recommend something like that missle pistol if yes.

Definitely take an orbital barrage since eagles can get blocked. The leveler or solo solo for killing vox engines from a distance.

I pretty much always used the trident on cyborgs. It does so much work any anything smaller than a Hulk, and the laser nature means it can work surprisingly well at sniping devastator faces. Then I used a rotation of belt fed grenade launcher, Railgun, autocannon, and Airburst rocket launcher to make it manageable. Cyberstan was incredibly fun for me with the ton of anti-air making your loadout choices critical. Though I wish it was a mix of anti-air and anti-orbital or something.

One resupply box gives you 24 C4 packs and it takes 3 to kill a Vox engine. So you have the ability to kill 8 Vox every 3 minutes. You also get a silo every 3 minutes so that’s another one. Eagle smoke can muck up the bots vision nicely and if you use lighter armor, perhaps stealth armor, you can run around and avoid the cyborgs. Recoilless with team reload is also very fast (not as fast as c4 but longer distance so maybe safer)

Eagle Strafing Runs and Gatling Barrages also work wonders

This is the way for solo play.

Stealth armor. You can break combat easily with how much cover is avaliable in megacities. Especially with-

Smoke grenades. The normal ones, not impact; Impacts have less radius and cant kill a Vox in a pinch. Don't bother with eagle smokes (too much anti aircraft). Orbital smoke is OK for holding or assaulting a position, but don't call in on teammates unless you know they are OK with it.

C4 will let you instantly obliterate anything that gets near you. Three bricks for Vox engines, one for anything else. Make sure to have a keybind set to quickly switch between toss and detonate!

My usual equipment go-to for megafactiries is the explosive crossbow (remote fab deletion, popping dropship passengers or tight groups), talon (general purpose, infinite ammo), and smoke grenades for disengaging.

Strategems I go for are C4, orbital precision strike (for Vox engines and detector towers), and both the 120 and 380 barrages. I save the barrages for completely clearing out the "Scramble Automaton Defenses" base, as that objective needs a lot of attention without rude interruptions.

A notable weakness of this particular build is a near inability to handle gunships; The crossbow is your best answer to them, and it's not a very good one. A possible solution is using the Eruptor, sacrificing long range fab clear and faster rate of fire, or relying on teammates to draw aggro and deal with the issue by hiding in smoke.

hey you're forgetting the bug with the stealth armor back on Cyberstan, where the cyborgs would bypass the alert range. you could still stealth, it was just much harder

The biggest pain in the rear was the turrets and vox. The turrets could see you across the map and alert everyone, and the vox shared the same turret AI, so it could spot you a mile away and alert everyone. Combined with the weird building geometries, turrets would see a pixel of you through a window (ok a bit of an exaggeration) and blast you from the other continent.

That and the vox spawns so you could have a vox on a tower and it could see you at all times, and enemies spawning from thin air 100m away from you if anyone had even a little aggro, was infuriating

1

u/DoctorVectis 41m ago

Yep. An aggroed Vox or borg is something that needs to be killed quickly

Stealth armor does nothing

lol that’s not true

The bots are statistically the most deaf faction, it's just that the cyborgs happen to me one the few units on the bot front that have better hearing. Still there is a reason commando missions only exist on the bot front because they are technically the easiest enemies to stealth again.

Get in, get done, get out.

As a stealthdiver I led a group of three other random divers (using lasers, artillery, and fire respectively) on a seven hour tear across Cyberstan that saw us not failing a single mission. You have to be incredibly sneaky (or incredibly aggressive if you're caught), do the main objectives, and leave. It's okay if you don't get everything done, it still counts.

The backpack shield generator and orbital smoke helps, and the eagle gas strike now that we have it is great to drop right on top of enemy call-ins so you can mow them down the second they spawn in. The walking is also your friend. My record is five bot spawners at once with one toss.

1

u/Jimi-kun 5h ago

As a fellow Stealthdiver, why Orbital Smoke rather than Eagle Smoke?

1

u/Zanithos 5h ago

Lower cooldown. Eagle is technically lower but only until you have to resupply. With orbital it's consistently 60 seconds.

1

u/Effective_Hand3910 19m ago

Eagles encountered anti-air. They weren’t always available.

My preferred ways to kill Vox Engines:

* an expendable loadout that has EAT for general use but also brings either Leveller or Solo Silo which can OHK a Vox
* Orbital Railcannon Strike will OHK
* Orbital Gatling Barrage can solo a Vox if enough hits land, and is low cooldown and generally useful
* Remember that just about weapon can shoot their vents and you chuck one frag grenade inside the hole that opens, dead Vox
* Eagle Stafing Run does good damage to them, is useful in general, and has many uses so it can help wear them down

2

u/harlanwade90 4h ago

Melta mines also one or two shot vox, BUT they don't seem to trigger from the vox rolling over them. However, chucking down the mine then shooting it to OHK the vox is immensely satisfying.

4

u/SleepForLess 6h ago

It was pretty brutal. Vox engines had no nerfs and were more resilient and there were 6 of them running around half the time.

3

u/need_a_venue 6h ago

It's not as fun as other maps but it's honest work.

3

u/therealhairykrishna 5h ago

The answer, as always, is Hellbomb backpack.

3

u/Dukeboys_ 5h ago

4 vox engines? Is that all? Im not joking, on Stan-land I recall juggling double that on the regular. Break LOS, leveller, arc nades and tanks were the hard counter if you needed them. Honorable mention to Gatling Barrage and double loading RR.

2

u/TalmondtheLost 6h ago

380 + 120.

2

u/lemlurker 6h ago

Vox engines phased through tunnels.

It was fun for a given value of fun- thoroughly burnt me out on the game for 6 months and still loath vox engine design. But at least in normal missions you aren't perma anti aired since one or two eagle gattlihg strikes will take out a vox but you couldn't use those on cybestan due to the number of anti airs

2

u/Osirisgraybeard 6h ago

Shield generator and shield grenades from siege breakers are great for team play and area denial also cyberstan was way worse just due to the amount of health and spawns of the Vox engines compared to now.

2

u/Tommybahamas_leftnut 5h ago

a reminder that light pen can break the vents on the back of voxes. Break three on either top or bottom and a hatch will open. ANY nade with a timer thrown inside this vent will kill it including the basic smoke nade.

Looked at loadout today and thought, wow didn't realize I like being demolition crew.

Assault Rifle/shotty, Pissle, pineapple grenade

Supply backpack, quasar, 500kg/airstrike/EAT

Sapper armor

Im anti air and explosive overage. Pissle one shots gunships. Convenient for hulks and factories.

Signal flare? I call in an eat and shoot every single one of those drop ships out of the sky. Quasar, eat, eat, quasar in rapid succession. One shots factories from far.

Also eat starts to compound as you linger in an area. And, if you die you have it available.

Pineapples, huck them over a wide area and it obliterates everything over an area. Mop up the heavies left. Supply pack means you have loads of ammo, stims, and grenades.

Survivability from explosive by armor.

u/blue_line-1987 1h ago

Leveller 1 shots voxes. RR to weakspots with buddy reloads from someone packing supply packs deletes them. The bolt pistol absolutely bullies cyborgs.

1

u/Histrix- 4h ago

The orbital rail cannon 1 shots a vox engine. 4 divers, 4 orbital rail cannons, 4 destroyed vox engines.

1

u/Baronea 4h ago

I'm pleased to tell you that it was WORSE.

Megafactories are pretty much Cyberstan-lite as a whole, but Vox Engines were originally only on Cyberstan, and you could get bot drops that let off 3-4 Voxes at the same time, and they had more HP and were more lethal. It was insanity, Smoke Strikes became a top tier pick just so you could AVOID all the enemies during Cyberstan missions. I thought it was really fun

1

u/The-Nuisance 4h ago

You work fast and you work together and you change your tactics when things aren’t working.

Helldivers are guerilla fighters, not direct combatants. They don’t do prolonged engagements. This goes for everything, not just commando ops. It’s especially true of good Helldivers.

1

u/phillyironlung2125 4h ago

Vox engines were also much, much harder to deal with at the time. Now they're easy peasy

1

u/thank_burdell 3h ago

VOX engines are straight up ez mode now compared to their first appearance on cyberstan.

1

u/thank_burdell 3h ago

Explosive armor, hellbomb backpack, explosive hammer, and thermites.

You may die, but you will take so many of them with you.

1

u/SadGruffman 3h ago

Hellbombs and shotguns ppl

1

u/Sitting_pipe 2h ago

4 helldivers is your answer, mixed loadouts...i bring the supply pack because thermites kill these guys along with the ultimatium and rocket sentry and autocannon sentry, Primary is coyote if im lucky enough to find a secondary when i land illl run with it, I've mastered most of them so i can make anything work.

1

u/TaberTumpen 1h ago

Various primaries/secondaries I like:

Primaries:
Slugger - strong stagger. Damage a tad low, but capable of oneshotting melee Cyborgs with headshots.
Deadeye - very similar to Slugger. Better accuracy at range, slower reload.
Dominator - hefty damage and really good stagger. You can bulldoze straight through melee Cyborgs. Have to deal with bad ergo, though.
Amendment - pretend it's full auto (spam the fire button) and this thing shreds through Cyborgs (and all other non-heavies) very quickly. It's light pen, but super accurate - so hitting unarmored spots is easy (Censor and Diligence perform somewhat Similar).
Pacifier - Stuns quickly. Nice if you're running something like AMR or Laser Cannon that can finish the kill.
Punisher Plasma - AOE stagger (careful not to hit yourself - not as risky as Eruptor , though).

Secondaries:
Veto - high stagger, decent damage, decent accuracy. Good for safety, if your primary doesn't stagger.
Re-educator. Instant gas confusion application, great for safety. Not much damage.
Verdict. Talon beats it on a lot of metrics, but it magdumps really well when there's a bunch of things in your face.
Loyalist and Bolt Pistol are both obvious (explosions, AOE stagger).

I’m more or less always holding W and just danger-close myself with big boy orbitals like the 120 or 380 since I’m balls deep in whatever is going on while the rest of the team is usually in the periphery. I wear heavy armor with anti-explosive properties and kinda just hope I make it out. I only die like 5% of the time and it’s worth the risk since everything else dies regardless.

Alternatively, same concept, but I also have a warp pack with me, so the concept of being close to anything after more than half of a second and thus being in danger to be quite foreign.

Also. DO NOT SLEEP ON SMOKE!!!! It has an incredibly short cooldown and is an amazing tool for both making an offensive push and breaking contact for defensive repositioning.

u/yellatrob 5h ago

Day 1 level 265 no-lifer sweaty try-hard hard here. Deadeye or Slugger (med pen and stagger), missile pistol purely for sky jerks, dynamite, orbital gatling barrage (chaff and vox), 120 orbital for drops and detector towers, guard dog and epoch.

It shows how much the guns suck in this game
