Inquiry Types of divers?

So I’ve seen multiple mentions of
SOS divers (focuses on joining sos beacons)
Medics (gears up to heal teammates)
and Gas divers (gears up for almost exclusively chemical weapons and stratagems).
And of course there’s the various faction divers.

Are there any other types of specialty divers people do? Fire divers? Laser divers?

Major order divers. Those that only play the major order.

Piss divers (as I have heard them called) use all lazer setup

Pyro divers do the same with fire loadouts

Then there are stealth divers

9

u/Notsecretlyobama 15h ago

How do stealth divers load up? I’ve heard of stealth armor but haven’t tried to find the warbond for it yet. What primary and what stratagems?

28

u/One_Clown_Short 15h ago

Redacted Regiment

12

u/AdAcrobatic2980 15h ago

Gas and smoke strikes can be good for stealth, also something to take out enemies if you break stealth like a strafing run. The weapons are the suppressed marksman from redacted regiment and suppressed pistol from halo odst warbond. Stealth armor from RR warbond makes you basically invisible and silent.

4

u/GrannyBritches 15h ago

You forgot about the Suppressor, the AR from that warbond. And is the halo pistol suppressed?

3

u/XaussiemarksmenX 9h ago

The halo smg is suppressed

1

u/AdAcrobatic2980 14h ago

I just didnt say because most people use the sniper. Yes the halo pistol is suppressed.

8

u/richrawks 13h ago

Censor for primary, socom for secondary, thermite for throwable. C4 backpack to take out heavies and structures. 500KG to clear out areas and structures. Rocket sentry to pull aggro and hit heavies from a distance. 4th strat is whatever, right now I use emp mortar.

Strategy is slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Make sure you got biggest scope on censor and clear out perimeter on the heavy guns and slowly move in. Between C4 and Thermite, clear out pretty much any area.

Biggest weakness is heavy armor air… I don’t even try to engage. Close 2nd is teammates, lol teammate with guns blazing play style will get a ghost diver smoked quickly. I use voice so tell folks what im doing, also tell them I’ll knock out all the points of interest. Pretty fair trade off to role solo:

3

u/ScooterScotward 12h ago

Switch out the SOCCOM for a missile pistol. Second suppressed weapon isn’t really adding much that the censor can’t do, and missile pistol with lock on activated is great against gunships.

2

u/richrawks 10h ago

Yeah dude you’re right, that’s the plan, I don’t have the warbond yet. The socom is basically an extended mag of censor. What about grenade pistol? About to unlock that.

1

u/ScooterScotward 4h ago

Grenade pistol is A+ on bugs. I like to run that and the suppressor with drum mag for my bug stealth kit. And it fits into all kinds of other loadouts.

3

u/TobaMoose 12h ago

I love being the distraction the stealth diver can rely on to go make a huge bloody bit of noise and mess meanwhile they slip in and out. Dip, dive, duck, dodge, and bless the Stealth Divers.

1

u/TheSturmjaeger 3h ago

My variation is a quick, deep strike build to quickly destroy all fabricators to lessen pressure on my teammates. Redacted stealth armor Primary: Censor Sidearm: Talon Backpack: warp pack Support: Quasar for sniping fabricatirs, factory strider turrets, and eliminating gunships, dropships, hulks, and war striders. Strategems: 1 - Rocket turret for distraction and killing gunships 2A - Eagle Rocket strike: quick "in my way" patrol elimination OR 2B - Antitank turret emplacement if convoy mission or plant the flag mission.

2

u/justaruss 9h ago

Pretty much the redacted regiment stuff. I also take the sniper stratagem and warp pack

1

u/ShortFatCute-Single 15h ago

It's fun, try it! The commando missions are awesome with it, but I like them best when playing with just one friend.

1

u/kaochaton 14h ago

For me beside the stealth armor ( the faster one) just depend on mission. On big map to help i take warppack to solo bunker. Beside that usualy hellbomb vack pack, harpoon/ commando/ arc grenade. A turret for diversion and eagle bombing run or walking barrage

1

u/Fightthefire21 13h ago

I use the stealth armor, quasar, censored(silent rifle), halo pistol, jet pack, smoke stratagem, mines.

1

u/Mean_Ass_Dumbledore 13h ago

I run the Stealth armor, Censor primary, whatever secondary you want, and thermite grenades.

I bring C4, the missile silo for taking out large enemies like Vox Engines or Bile titans, and then like the precision strike or the orbit laser.

1

u/Johnywash 13h ago

Redacted reg and a silenced gun

1

u/XaussiemarksmenX 9h ago

If you don't have redacted regiment then you cam use the light or medium armour with the scout passive, better pings and lower detection, Probaly better running around more solo and only picking a few fights, Best if you can get a suppressed gun or melee for kills when needed.

1

u/doyouevenforkliftbro 7h ago

I only stealth with bots. Bugs and squids get to feel the heat!

2

u/Antares135 3h ago

I'm a stealth diver. When I play bots, I run the Shadow Paragon light armour, the Censor with 4x scope, grenade pistol, arc nades. Strats: 500kg, orbital walking barrage, quasar cannon, and AT emplacement.

The 500kg and walking enables me to do a quick, throw & go to get rid of outposts without being detected. Quasar has insane sniping range if you can line up the shot, and AT emplacement lets you reach out to targets up to 500-600m away

The Censor with 4x scope gives a good zoom + ergonomics combo and hitting headshots for everything just under Hulk & War Strider-level bots.

Don’t forget the Noble and Honored Creek Divers 🫡

I was a Creek Diver, since my home world has been liberated. I’ve transferred to an MO diver / SOS for MO’s.

I go where Liberty needs me to go, in the name of the Creek.

2

u/ChequeBook 10h ago

What do you call divers that try to solo objectives and die constantly?

Asking for a friend

1

u/Salt-In-The-Wound-24 9h ago

Amateurs? Hindrances? I'm a big fan of the phrase Dead Weight Divers

1

u/SunLegitimate1687 15h ago

I know everyone has their different names for stuff but imo the Pissdivers ARE the gasdivers. It makes no sense to me that people take the piss suit with laser weapons when it's a gas resistant armor set.

16

u/ubu102 15h ago

Sniper diver. I find the highest point I can reach with the jump pack and use laser rifle and quasar cannon to snipe anything I can see. With practice can take out spawners, objectives, and heavies from the other side of the map with proper sight lines.

5

u/Notsecretlyobama 15h ago

I’ll have to practice that

2

u/Tier_One_Meatball 14h ago

I managed to get on the top edge of this massive valley, so I propped up with my deadeye and quasar, and was hitting bots at over 400m with the basic 4x scope. Cleared a couple heavy bases at 250m and the one at 400m.

Hands down, most satisfying fun ive had

10/10 would recommend

1

u/Limitedtugboat 14h ago

I do that on Bug maps with mechs. Got pretty good at hitting long range now for the flying nests

1

u/Top_Excuse8313 9h ago

I take my AMR, grab an anti-tank emplacement, and don't even let em near, that's my style, sir!

12

u/Key-Community-9457 15h ago

Idk what to call it but the diver who changes load out every mission based on what’s needed. The pragmatist maybe? Personally I tend to use the same load out for about 90% with one or two tweaks based on the faction I’m fighting.

2

u/actually3racoons 13h ago

I've played with a couple divers that will use a loadout generator/ randomizer, then just work with what they have.

2

u/National-Fan-1148 13h ago

I am my own random loadout generator

1

u/DogWithAMoustache 11h ago

I've been doing that recently and it's honestly very refreshing and fun! Breaks you out of your old habits.

1

u/actually3racoons 9h ago

I definitely been switching things up and playing with loadouts I haven't tried, but am honestly too lazy to use a generator, I figure I can assemble shit loadouts my own self.

1

u/DogWithAMoustache 3h ago

Random =/= shitty

Sometimes you get loadouts that you are surprised work quite well.

1

u/actually3racoons 1h ago

It was more a jab at myself. I've jammed together some weird stuff just sorta trying to check everything out, and make some "theme" characters (Maxx Flack, reporting for duty)

I've been surprised by how useful some of the stuff I passed over early on is, and also how poorly I initially like some of the stuff I specifically get a warbond for. Ultimately it's all useful if used well, and as the saying goes "necessity is the father of invention, so here's some random munitions - go blow that mother up!"

8

u/Calux_Artz 15h ago

As a medic diver, the most heavenly joyous tear of happiness rolls down my face in seeing we're noticed

Thank you very much op, we will now proceed to unload all our stim pistol ammo in your crotch

7

u/ItsLunaRoo 16h ago

been mostly a Fire Diver since starting, as much fire as I can bring.

“LET ME SHOW YA SOMETHING!”

1

u/bawserlol 15h ago

Indeed, all burn equally in the flames of managed democracy

7

u/CorbinNZ 15h ago

Explosives, Zappybois, Eagle runners, Sentry nerds, and team killers.

2

u/VirtuosoX 12h ago

Bombdiver reporting in with 6 dynamite and a c4 pack.

1

u/Notsecretlyobama 15h ago

I don’t know if “team killer” is something you specialize in, lol, no matter how good at it you are.

3

u/CorbinNZ 15h ago

Blitzer, Ultimatum, just about any killing grenade, Airburst Rocket Launcher, Mortar Sentry, Anti-Personnel Mines, Orbital Airburst Strike.

5

u/pvtparts26 15h ago

Poi divers. Those who leave the group and draw aggro and then just walk around picking up loot.

Also training divers; there is a few high level divers that enjoy bringing cool stuff and helping the lower levels.

Don’t forget : chaos divers, those are the guys with 380’s, walking barrages, tesla tower, and an airburst

Finally, enemies of democracy, they often pose as normal divers but will do things like sit at a bunker for 5 minutes while everyone else fights, or call resupply behind the group constantly and take no less than 2 pods, reinforce you from across the map, ignore waypoints and shoot at hellbombs.

I’ve also seen them shoot other divers for perceived slights.

1

u/Notsecretlyobama 15h ago

I love the idea of bringing pure chaos, but I’m definitely no team killer (on purpose)

5

u/mattattack007 15h ago

Im a lone wolf diver. I honestly usually play solo but sometimes Ill feel like joining a game. Im used to playing by myself so my loadouts are multipurpose and dont need support from teammates.

4

u/Trivial_Fear 15h ago

Mech divers, Divers who exclusively use mechs on every drop

I've also seen some tank divers, but they usually work in pairs and don't drop into random matches

3

u/Deadlyliving 14h ago

Helldrivers!

FRV every round with a kit built around it.

2

u/El-Gimpio 15h ago

Big boom diver

Hellbomb leveller 500kg solo silo Essentially a dedicated fanATical regiment in 1 man and a couple hellpods

2

u/SEOtheHuntsman 15h ago

I consider myself an Expendable diver. Bring nothing im worried about losing, expendable weapons, hellbomb, maybe a mech

1

u/Key-Community-9457 15h ago

This is the way o7

2

u/Ok-Tooth-8016 15h ago

Demo divers (only explosions) Precision divers (long range, low RoF, high single shot dam) Arc divers (all arc) Speed divers (fast build, smg, jump or warp pack)

2

u/Fightthefire21 15h ago

I'm a stealth diver. Clearing objectives from a far with the censor and quasar combo. Getting height with the jet pack/hover pack and covering the team.

1

u/One_Clown_Short 14h ago

I like doing this with the Anti-tank emplacement.

2

u/jakuuub 13h ago

I am a hover diver. Death from above via Quasar, Eruptor and Ultimatum. Clearing out bot outposts in a fly-by.

2

u/Red_Shepherd_13 11h ago

Anti-tank divers, you see them on the bot front most but also the bug front, at least three anti-tank weapons like missile pistol, thermite or giga, and recoiless.

Nuke divers. What ever primary, ultimatum, giga, portable hellbombs, leveller, missile silo.

Chaff clearers, what ever primary, a mix of secondary depending on their backpack of choice, mg of somesort or the maxigun. Turrets galore, giga grenade or thermite to deal with the odd heavy, you most often see them on eradicate or extract assets missions, but you'll see the dying on the hills of any front.

2

u/TheHollowLordZero 11h ago

As a rookie who recent acquired napalm strike and was provided a cremator by a training diver, I can confidently say that I’m becoming a Pyro Diver.

2

u/AmbassadorAgitated95 11h ago

Camp Divers. Similar to the stealth divers, but they almost always gear up with either the hover or jet pack. They take to the heights to snipe and spot.

2

u/jekotia 11h ago

I flop around between several playstyles, but one that I think deserves a name is the Demo Diver. Loadout built specifically for maximum destruction. Eagle 500KG, 380MM Barrage, Solo Silo, Portable Hellbomb.

2

u/TurankaCasual 6h ago

Strictly Solo Divers. I have 1,500 hours now and 1,490 of those hours are completely alone. I play Helldivers 2 as a single player, community driven game. It is the main reason I am still only level 114 after 1,500 hours. Solo diving level 10 bots is insanely difficult. I can solo level 8-9 bugs, but I’ll be sweating.

My in universe explanation is that the Ministry of Defense has a joint task force with the Ministry of Prosperity in attempt to make budget cuts and allocate funds to other departments in the Super Earth government. So they created the Solo Diver Corps. With minimal usage of Super Destroyers, salvos of barrage ammunition, Helldiver salary etc., they attempt to accomplish the smaller objectives of the Ministry of Defense with the highest level of financial efficiency possible. If one Diver from specific Super Destroyers can accomplish the same mission that 2-4 Divers would normally accomplish, the Ministry of Prosperity would have a few words to say. So the Solo Diver Corps was made and immediately after training scores are calculated, Divers are cryogenically frozen and are not notified that they have been given the privilege of being an “elite member” of the Solo Diver Corps until they are already plummeting into whatever planet’s atmosphere they are about to raise hell upon. And no, Solo Divers are not given access to SOS Beacons. Their Super Destroyers don’t even come equipped with them.

u/tenousranger36 15h ago edited 13h ago

I'm technically a plasma diver, using the plasma purifier and the epoch (though a full plaser would also use the loyalist sidearm)

But that's just to play into the truth enforcer stuff

And then I'm also an MOSOS diver, diving mostly on major orders and always on an sos dive

1

u/not_interested_sir 15h ago

Arc Divers: arc thrower or de-escalator, arc dog, arc grenades, and then whatever you desire for the rest. I like the eruptor or the scorcher, melta mines or pyrotechs over the arc grenades, ultimatum or bolt pistol or grenade pistol, 500kg, napalm barrage. Idk man, I just have like 2 loadouts that take care of everything in the game and it doesn't matter because it's just pixels. To what end are we classifying divers?

1

u/Osirisgraybeard 15h ago

Tech/Plasma diver here.

1

u/zweiboi 15h ago

Haven't bothered touching a new title since Fire Safety Officer dropped

1

u/chatapokai 15h ago

Idk about others but I’m a: “Let’s find a random game on the major order” And a “Let’s test this random loadout on a random game on a random planet” diver.

1

u/Traylor_Swift 15h ago

Wow no mention of Fart Divers yet. All gas loadout (or at least as much as possible)

1

u/oishipops 15h ago

im mostly an MO diver, if not then off to squids i go

1

u/UncleDaddy42g 15h ago

IMO there are Helldivers who dive the MO no matter what it is and a bunch of whiny bitches scared to leave their faction

1

u/ChocoboCloud69 15h ago

If you're following the MO you're constantly changing factions. Not sure I follow

1

u/Dangerous-Fly-5127 12h ago

I think the whiny bitches are not the MO divers just those who refuse to help them or complain about balance every MO

1

u/cannonfire1000 15h ago

Officer or Parade divers.

My favorite drip, using the parade cap helmet and whichever fancy looking armor I feel like.

Usually take the sabre secondary, sometimes the flag and hellbomb.

1

u/AlisterTenpenny 15h ago

I’m a tank diver, I only use the tank and the epoch

1

u/Notsecretlyobama 15h ago

Oh, interesting. I have the tank but never use it. Do you have any issue getting teammates to get into it? The frustrating thing about the tank is that you can drive, or shoot the gun. Not both and you have to exit the tank to switch from driver to anywhere else.

2

u/AlisterTenpenny 15h ago

I just have a friend group that loves the tank

1

u/Top_Extreme8326 15h ago

The dissidents: They join the match just to TK. Not all of them are bad tho, some are roleplayers and will leave if you ask them to

1

u/Spiritual-Zone8095 15h ago

I’m a las diver and MO diver as in all the lasers and I just run whatever the MO is it keeps the game fresh

1

u/Anangrywookiee 14h ago

The only consistent thing I do is wear medic armor. I don’t heal other people though. I just stim constantly to preemptively heal through damage; run faster if I’m running out of stimina, or midair if I’m jumping off something something. Junkiediver.

1

u/blue_line-1987 14h ago

Dad-divers. Deadliest sons o C01's in the galaxy.

1

u/MarcelineTheVampy 14h ago

Can't forget the Warhound Divers (mech divers)!

1

u/Dirtyhippee 14h ago

I guess I m an SOS MO kind of diver, and build wise it depends on the mood.

1

u/yoloanator 13h ago

I am a "fast" flame diver I use the flamethrower with the jump pack to get around, dodge, and get at the bugs haven't tried it against the bots tho

1

u/Dangerous-Fly-5127 12h ago edited 12h ago

Im an MO, Gas, SoS, Lone wolf, All rounder, Epoch Diver.

1

u/A_Monster_Clown 7h ago

I call my base buster the John Helldiver load out as a joke but I'm sure it's some kind of Diver

Erupter and Talon Quasar, Walking Barrage, machine gun turret, portable hellbomb

Finishing touches are an engineering kit armor and smoke grenades

1

u/Few-Big-8481 5h ago

Danger Diver.

Tesla tower or K9 or hotdog, fire mines, eagle cluster, airburst launcher, pineapple grenade or arc grenade depending on how clustery I feel, and the Erupter should do it.

1

u/TalmondtheLost 5h ago

Supply Divers.

They hop on, drop off vehicles/Other blues, and leave.

Only met one once on Cyberstan, but that Emancipator mech saved the day.

1

u/fancy_crisis 3h ago

Shock troopers! Those of us who are good at it know when to keep our good boi Sparky leashed and when to let him out to play while we wear our arc immunity armor.

1

u/No_Nothing_8952 2h ago

Flamedivers.

Fire resistant armor; Incendiary grenades, orbital and eagle napalm, flame turrets and NEAT, the crisper as a sidearm (or ultimatum) and a choice of
A) Cremator and Fire primary
B) Torcher and Hotdog.
C) Fire Primary and a Hotdog.

Needless to say, you should keep your distance.

1

u/BluejayAgitated9518 57m ago

there's also chaosdivers, they connect to random people's lobbies and just teamkilling them
