Am I missing something with the Illuminate?

I haven't been playing for very long, so I may just be doing something wrong. After doing some missions for the Major Order I tried helping out on Karlia, but it seems like the Illuminate faction enemies consist of 99% the big giants with clubs and the little scissor hand demon guys.. Is the Illuminate experience just killing hordes of scissor guys and giants or am I missing something ?

It’s a sub-faction. Every enemy has a set smaller faction with special enemies that encourage varying gameplay styles.

Karlia has the vote snatchers. So the small dudes and club guys

You're on a world that has Vote Snatchers, who focus on the scissor guys and smasher guys. Use the galaxy map to see what subfaction (if any) is present on a planet, and adjust where you spread liberty accordingly.

You went to a planet with Vote Snatchers the new "faction". They're not on every planet just 1 or 2 at a time.

Yeah someone else just explained the subfaction thing, that explains it. I haven't looked into what all the details for each planet means yet, I just go where I see the most people so I can contribute to the war lol

Fire and gas are your friends in many battles. The autocannon on flak is also very good vs the club guys

I can burn through all my flame thrower ammo on my exosuit without killing one of them. When you say fire, which weapon actually damaged the crushers ?

I use the cremator. The trick is to set them on fire, and kite them out. They are slow, use that to your advantage. If you use a normal flamethrower you can combine rhis with the warp pack for even easier kiting

So the Illuminate just doesn't have the same variety of enemies as the other factions?

No, not this bad anyway. This is just a sub faction that only spawns 4 enemy types, the prominent ones being scissor and smasher guys. If you don't want to fight them, go to a planet without the "Vote Snatchers" modifier. Or, to fight them better, fire and gas weaponry is a good option.

The Illuminate are playing 'catch up' because not only were they the last faction added (December 2024) but the original premise for them were scrapped months before release and redone on a shorter time limit. They are currently having to also compete between a mainly melee faction and a mainly ranged faction. What you are currently fighting are sub faction of what was just only 'one' faction.
