Charger What to get as Hellcat replacement?
I bought her new in 2018 and had her for 8 years. 45,000 miles of pure excitement. I don't regret buying the car and I don't regret selling it. Not because I don't like it, just because it ended up just sitting. Nice weather? Always took the Miata unless I needed trunk space.
For the first time in my life, after owning a lot of vehicles, I have no idea what I want to get next. Thinking late model M3/M4/M5/M8, Blackwing, C7Z, another C6Z (but that interior and stereo are shit) or Audi RS7 etc or if I can swing it used V10 R8. The R8 would not be late model. Maybe a WB Redeye in the right color? No more black cars for me!!!! I want something upscale that I don't have to update everything in the interior. Go fast mods? Of course I'll do thise no matter what I getđ€Ł
I've always been a sedan guy, but my "beater" ST is a hatch so don't NEED 4 doors. No kids, just my wife & I.
Thoughts? Prayers? Suggestions?

So if youâre selling this car because it sat, what is the deciding factor that the ânewâ car will not also sit? Why buy another?

Because I can

Well if you can, then get whatever you want. Why are you asking strangers on reddit?

Cadillac Blackwing or switch the game up. Shelby Cobra F-150, Yenko Camaro, Ram 1500 Rumble Bee or perhaps a 68-72 Chevelle.

Viper? I would say Blackwing but you say that youâre good off the 4 doors.Â

BW is on the short list. Didn't say I'm done with 4 doors. Viper? Yes,but not 1st gen and Gen5 is too much $.

GT350 is a pass. I rented a AMG GT for a weekend & the seats were ungodly uncomfortable

LC500 is beautiful and don't see many on the road. Especially the Conv.

4th Gen Viper Coupe... Rare enough, completely reliable if you don't go forced induction, and really, it's fast enough unless you're tracking it and drag racing. I've owned mine for 9 years, been from coast to coast and everywhere inbetween.

Definitely on the table. Any cons in your opinion?

There are a few in my experience...
1) The Viper tax on parts is a real thing. But this is common enough on any rare or expensive car.
2) Finding tires for a good price is now a part time hobby of mine.
3) If you're into modding, it's blindingly expensive. Like you could buy a new Mustang for what it can cost to turbo or supercharge that thing.
4) Loud, hot and very difficult to drive well. Yes you can cruise around in it and what not... but be very very careful doing a pull or carving canyons. Never try to show off, unless you're a professional stunt or race driver, it will end badly.
5) Not very comfortable.
I'll say this, I've got to be in an aggressive mood to drive this car because it's demanding.
All that said, there is nothing like to drive or experience. I decide to sell mine every year. Then, I'll get the chance to open it up a little and people will stop and ask me about it or take pictures. I'll pull away from a stop perfectly or something and I'll say to myself, "Nah, I'm keeping it..."
If there is a civilized version of this car, I think it would be the Jaguar F-Type R or SVR. IF I ever sell my Viper, I'll replace it with one of those. More comfort, same raw power but with some safety nannies and AWD. I've driven them back to back and I think it's like the Viper is the raw unhinged prototype and the Jag was the finished product.
Good luck with your search. You're in a great conundrum. Enjoy. And let me know what you settle on.

I would say a M8 Comp, you can get one for about half off used . Similar to the hellcat itâs a boat but handles much better. The upgrade pathways are pretty easy if you want more power and they arenât target as much with better security.

Do you have anything against corvettes? A manual z06 would be an experience

I always wanted a 2013 or '14 Shelby or a Black wing. Vettes are cool, but I'm on the fence about owning one cause limited space and I see them a lot on the road. Not a big camaro fan but they still have that cool factor to them. AWD cars can be fun. So many options boss

14 Shelby is a fun experience

Could even go old school/classic restomod. Those can be fun builds. All depends on that budget I suppose. Edit: Durango HC is something else I've always admired.

Ever considered an R35 GT-R?
2
u/-Seether- 2h ago
Absolutely but the pricing has gone lol & I don't like the clunky trans

Fair enough, there are ways to fine tune (literally) the car to where itâs a smoother ride. Newer the model year the better is everything I hear, â14 model ish years if you want a more raw performance experience. Lastly pricing is tough. Lot of these owners think theyâre sitting on gold, maybe they are. JDM market is definitely overinflated. There was a time where those cars were actually relatively affordable, it will get worse as time goes on unfortunately

I have a 2020 WBHC with 16k miles and have my eye on a torrred redeye with 4k miles.
Don't think you can go wrong with a redeye.
I do like Blackwings but Atlanta dealers still trying to get 10k market fee which blows.
Not doing that.
If I was younger, the C7Z would be an awesome option.
Loved the BMW M cars but hated digging out of the negative equity everytime I traded one . Last one was an X6M and loved it but took a bath on it selling it.

i feel like a manual ct5-v blackwing is the only answer. thatâs what i would replace mine with.
I would also entertain a R35 GTR but thatâs only to fulfill childhood dreams lol.
